Just fancy owning / drive the xantia :) (Have never driven a citroen!!) Now at that price im guessing i can run it till the tax is out, and even scrap it for £150-200. What do you guys think? Obviously I will need it to drive ok as I will be driving it to the builders yard / rubbish tip etc. -
KIA Picanto (2004 - ) - 05 1.1 Battery or alternator failed? 1 Jul 2011 (Forum)
It may or may not be relevant, but a few days before this occurred I thought the windscreen wipers were laboring a little, but decided it must just be in my head. I can't actually remember whether this was stationary or on the move, but the engine was running. I bought the car in December and as far as I know it's still on the original battery. The car is generally used for short runs but does get used for a couple of hour+ journeys every week. Is there any way to deduce whether it's the battery or alternator that has failed without getting it to a garage? -
citroen relay van - expensive garage repairs now need new engine 14 Jun 2011 (Forum)
Around 10 months ago my van started blowing out black smoke and running flat out whilst on a journey. I managed to bring the van to a halt as was towed to our local citroen garage where i was informed the engine had run on its own oil due to oil overfill and that had blown the pistons. -
Peugeot (1996) 406 2LTR 16v Petrol LX - Peugeot 406 Idling/stalling problem 1 Apr 2011 (Forum)
I have owned this car from new and it has just rolled over 165,000 miles.A year ago it intermittently started to rev up and down erratically when started from cold, and once on the road it will momentarily falter/hesitate for a split second ,then run normally.Other times it will suddenly cut out while idling, but will start back up ok and then run fine.Other times the car will jerk as the power comes off and on ,and the revs will stay at 1200rpm if i engage neutral while coasting and will finally settle at 950rpm once the car has come to a halt. Now and again the fault light comes on and records "Irregular fuel delivery".I have so far renewed the following ,Throttle Potentiometer/Stepper Motor/Oxygen(Lamda) sensor/Throttle cable, reconditioned ECU. -

Ford Fiesta - Ford Fiesta Fuel Consumption 18 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Most annoying the fuel consumption is not very good, across all types of driving, short distances to long motorway runs it has never achieved better than 300miles per tank. Mostly the driving we do in the car is 6 miles each end of the day to the train station and then longer runs (150 miles+) at the weekends, this mix of driving conditions still means we end up with a fuel consumption of 29-30 mpg. -
Citroen C3 1.4 Diesel - Citroen C3 - Engine Cutting out 16 Nov 2010 (Forum)
Apologies this is my first posting - so hopefully this is OK. We have a Citroen C3 (1.4 Diesel) which has been running fine, and runs generally OK for 90% of its time. However its started to cut out when slowing down to junctions or when the clutch is pressed (usually with radio/blower on). There is zero stuttering, just 100% engine cut off with the battery light illuminated as if I rotated the key off. -

Ford Focus - Focus 55 reg hatchback wiper intermittant 16 Oct 2010 (Forum)
But I cannot find anything about this relay, it is located in the boot on the near side behind the carpet running up the panel. Just a bit reluctant to pull it until I know what it does. Any ideas gratefully accepted..!!! Cheers Chris -
Motability cars and DPF filters? 23 Aug 2010 (Forum)
If you have a new diesel car on the motability scheme and your DPF filter clogs up because you only drive locally and can't be cleared on a long run meaning a trip to the dealer who will foot the bill? If it is a manufacturer's problem then they will but this problem only occurs if you don't use the car properly so in a way it is your fault the DPF got clogged. -

1994 BMW E36 M3 - White smoke (over fuelling?) 22 May 2010 (Forum)
Hey guys, Right my car starts fine and seems to idle and run ok until she starts warming up (roughly around the end of the red bar), when she seems a little down on power but also starts smoking from the exhaust. Upon parking up, she spits out plenty of smoke and even some petrol splashes and reeks of fuel. -
KIA Cerato Diesel - - Is this car a good buy?-£3.8K, 2005/55 -42K mile 13 May 2010 (Forum)
The car costs £ 3500. Its a 2005/55 registration and has run 42000 miles. It's a Cerato 1.5 CRDi GS My concerns about this car:- 1) Is the price right? The price is is £325 above the what car valuation for this car. 2) For a 5 year old car, its run only 42000 miles. -
Nissan Primera II (1996 - 1999) - 97 2.0 What will eventually happen to the UJ? 4 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Finaly he took the wheel to pieces and photographed some parts and was going to try again, but he went back to the UK and never returned. We have no choice at the moment but to run this car. But we are worried that the wheel will fall off or something terminal will happen when we are out. Can someone tell us what will happen to the wheel? Thank you so much. Richard -
Rover 200 (1995 - 1999) - 96 1.4 timing marks 3 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Hi ive just changed my waterpump on my Rover 214si N reg and as far as im aware ive lined all the timing marks up correctly ie:exhauste pully pointing towards inlet pully and locked them in place with locking tool, ive also lined flywheel pully up with the oil pump marking which is about 1 ocklock as you look at the engine in the standing position there are also some other marks on the plastic cover and one of them says TDC my question is to i use the TDC marks to time up my car to run smoothly or is it the oil pump mark i should use to time my car up beacause ive used the oil pump mark and lined both my cams up properly and my car runs erratically ?. And as the car ran fine before i replaced the pump it must be something im doing wrong ive been told that the oil pump mark is for dynamic engine timing purposes and i dont know what that is ? -
BMW X5 E53 SUV (2000 - 2007) - 05 3.0 LPG conversion of 4 x 4 10 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Hi I want (or even need-ish) to buy a 4 x 4. However 70% of the time the car will be used by the missus for the school run. The remaining 30% of the time will be for carting our very large dog around and ensuring we don't get stuck in the snow and floods considering the location of our house. We used to have a Frontera which kept breaking down, we then decided to agree with Greenpeace for a bit and have tried a Zafira. -
Audi A3 + S3 (1996 - 2001) - 97 1.6 Curious starting problem 11 Aug 2009 (Forum)
It was only after I bought the new battery that I realized the battery warning light wasn't illuminating at all when I turned on the ignition, which seems to suggest an alternator problem (diodes?) - but the fact that I saw a good charging voltage with the engine running seems to contradict this. Haven't got round to making any more measurements or checking for shorts yet. Has anyone seen these symptoms before? -
Citroen Xantia (1993 - 2000) - 98 1.9T Diagnostic light on when cold,goes off whe 16 Jul 2009 (Forum)

(Limp mode) Found that the instument panel was opened and ABS/Engine Diagnostic/Airbag lights missing. -
Car rental in days gone by - scams 28 May 2009 (Forum)
It was actually the front of our hotel and parking the car that triggered this off - because there had been a shot of a man running in out of the darkness, kicking the cars door in and then running off. It had been a scam that more than a few people had been caught in and it turned out the BIL of the car hire proprietor used to kick the doors of the hire cars in and then the hirer was brought before the local Court a few days later to a massive claim for damages. -
p/xd a scrapper too soon 24 Apr 2009 (Forum)
We have owned it for 6 years. 2 weeks ago we took delivery of a new A3 to replace the Saab (PCP), the theory being we would run the Mazda to its next MOT, then see if it passed and scrap it if not. We would then go to one car as we don't really need two at the moment. Now it seems if we had waited we could have got at least a grand off the A3.
