  • Alfa 156 AirCon! 1 Sep 2003 (Forum)
On hot days I have to have it set on maximan and seems to take quite some time to cool the air. After driving 20 mins the car does start cooling down. My Father has a Primara and my Wife a Citroen Xsara and both cool the air much quicker compared to mine. I did telephone the dealer and they hinted that all the 156's were like that. Its a company car and I wondered if other 156 drivers have been pleased with the aircon or have experenced the same as me?
  • S40 vs. C5 vs. Mercedes C Class 29 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Although I love the car, due to personal reasons, it is for sale now and would be grateful if you could let me know what would be a realistic price for a quick sale either from a dealer (Mercedes or third party?) or private sale. In its place, I am thinking of getting either the new Volvo S40 saloon or Citroen C5 HDi Exclusive or a secondhand Mercedes C or E class with a budget of £12,000. What would you suggest is the best option?
  • Variety is the spice of life 18 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Just where are the interesting, different, quirky machines these days (even if they are less than 100% dependable). Top marks to anyone who can flag up a modern day equivalent of the likes of an Alfasud/GTV, Citroen DS/CX etc. Where have all these 'stuff conformity' heroes gone?
  • Damaged paintwork due to railway 13 Jun 2003 (Forum)
I have looked at the house's windowsills (which were white) and they are deep brown on the horizontal surfaces thanks to this stuff. I'm concerned my white Citroen ZX will resemble an old British Leyland colour before too long.
  • Help! Service interval and petrol choice 26 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Just bought a Citroen C5 - 1.8 petrol. 1 year old, 11K miles. The issue is a general one though. The manual says 20K mile service is all that's required, but I only do 6K miles per year, most of it round town (plus an annual drive to the south of France).
  • Looking after a black car 8 Sep 2002 (Forum)
I bought a new Citroen C5 a few months ago. It's black (non-metallic) When it's clean and polished it's really nice and a bit unusual (you don't see many black C5s around!) - but when it's anything less than clean...........!!!
  • Xsara suspension problems 24 Feb 2002 (Forum)
At high speed or enthusiactic (sp) driving the wheel thumps along the road (not really wobble), been to citroen garage (PC Tonkins, Cornwall) with no joy and £60 out of my pocket for 4 wheel alignment, the result was front wheels ok, but back wheels out: left rear 0.6mm (spec range 1.75 - 2.75mm) and right rear 0.1mm (same range).

  • Citoen BX suspension 10 Dec 2001 (Forum)
I had no problems with the rise and fall before they replaced the spheres but it has not worked properly since. Any of you Citroen buffs able to help ?.
  • Fog lights again (FAO Robin!) 15 Nov 2001 (Forum)
And by the way, it may not be vanity after all to have them on, eh? That's it, I've made my point. Back to writing irate letters to Citroen.
  • Future cars for the kids. 13 Nov 2001 (Forum)
If our girls were old enough for a car I'd be thinking about something like a Nissan Micra or Citroen ZX D, perhaps around 1994. But they are only 4 and 6 now so the eldest will perhaps be looking for a car in 12 years time. If requirements stay broadly the same a 7 year old car then will be one that is not due to be made for another 5 years (2006), if you see what I mean.
  • Endangered species 9 Oct 2001 (Forum)
Even-numbered Renaults (4, 6, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 30) 2. Austin Maxi 3. Talbot Alpine and Solara 4. Fiat 131 Mirafiori 5. Citroen GS Some of these could be down to a few dozen roadworthy survivors by now. (And good riddance, I hear you say.) I can't really see anyone bothering to weld up and respray an old Talbot Alpine or Renault 14 - could these cars actually end up extinct?
  • Indicator bulbs - Xantia 25 Sep 2001 (Forum)
I have had the bulbs back and the orange paint is flaking on all of them. The car was preregistered in March'00 but had only done 80 miles when I bought it from Citroen dealer. I have now noticed taht a lot of new cars have clear indicator glasses thus needing orange bulbs. Do they all flake after such a relativel short time ?? If this is a fact of life then a lot of people are getting ripped off and the lamp manufacturers are raking it in for the sake of a minor design change my car makers.
  • Aftermarket Turbo Bits 21 Jun 2001 (Forum)
It makes no difference which engine is used in the kit as the complete car is used as a donor with the exception of the bodyshell. Having driven Citroen TD's for the last donkey's and being a true Yorkshireman, I want to use a Turbodiesel engine. The lumps in the last of Uncle Henry's Mk3 Fiestas were not overly wonderful from what I can gather, and most were not blown.
  • Range Rover 10 Jun 2001 (Forum)
I've mentioned this to a few people and have heard of two other instances of this happening with the hydro-pneumatic suspension on Range Rovers (Oh how Citroen must be laughing). Not sure what the problem was with two of them, but one had a blowing exhaust which destroyed some of the pipework/seals and down she came. Luckily they were only doing ten miles an hour in a car park.
  • More on water in the gearbox 20 Mar 2001 (Forum)
I have a '96 Citroen Synergie diesel. In early '99 I successfully (so I thought) drove it through about 50m of floodwater up to bumper height, avoiding a collection of locals who were offering to tow me through using assorted tractors and 4x4s, and not for free, either.
  • citroen xsara picasso 2002 - Unsure if i should still buy.. 1 Apr 2012 (Forum)
Hi, I put a deposit down on a citroen xsara picasso 2002 on friday with 99,500 miles on the clock. I don't really know what I am looking for in a car in all honesty so I'll list the points I thought were good first then tell you my concerns.
  • Citroen Xsara (1997 - 2004) - 99 1.4 - 'Check engine' light at higher speeds 5 Oct 2008 (Forum)
They could only address the lambda sensor because the mixture control problem would need to be looked at by a Citroen specialist. So another £90 for the lambda sensor + fitting. At that point I was hoping that changing the lambda sensor would address the mixture control. But that was wishful thinking. The check engine light is back.
