Electric Window - Laguna 28 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Before it stopped working, the window opened and closed at a snails pace, thus the assumption of the motor being knackered rather than both switches. I have been quoted 85 quid + vat for new one from Renault. And been quoted 42 quid + vat from a scrap yard. Parts only. Which one would you go for. And are they easy to fit. Removing the door panel and accessability a problem? Is it a DIY job or not. Please help. -
Car reliability survey 14 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Perhaps more interesting were the bunch propping up the foot of the table which were, I believe: Fiat (worst), Daewoo, Peugeot, Lotus, Kia, Land Rover, Vauxhall, Citroen, Renault, Suzuki. The French not looking too good eh ! Audi were in at 10 and Skoda at 6 I think but VW were down at 24. Overall the Mazda 6 was voted as the best car apparently. Can anyone give more details. -
Van purchase advice 18 Feb 2003 (Forum)
I've got to get a transit size van load of stuff from Bristol to near Toulouse (SW France)and rather than renting one and having to drive it back and fly out (we're moving there) I'm thinking of buying a very cheap van and scraping it when I get there. I was thinking a old Renault Traffic or similar - it will need one month MOT and Tax and as long as it has one last journey in it I'll buy it. Is this madness or good sense? Any vans better than others? Petrol or Diesel? Auction or private? -
Megane Cambelt - Fibbing Dealer?? 5 Feb 2003 (Forum)
Hi, I recently had the Cam Belt changed on my 1997 Renault Megane by the local Dealership. Shortly after the car came back I noticed that a bolt was missing from near the cam belt, I took this up with the dealer and they said that the bolt was just to hold the adjuster whilst they fitted the belt and they had kept the bolt off as they had been known to come loose and tear the belt. -
mitsubishi carisma turbo diesel gearbox 18 Jan 2003 (Forum)
I should like to change the gearbox oil which I suspect has never been changed; the car is difficult to get into reverse, esp when cold, might this help? I know the engine is a 1.9 Renault, the drain plug appears to be at the bottom of the diff (square drive socket) and the filler appears to be a nylon or plastic plug facing front halfway up the gearbox. Can anyone confirm? > Also, the handbook refers to the capacity as 3.2 litres which seems a lot. > What is the easiest way to fill, bearing in mind access to the filler is restricted and is fitted in a vertical face of the box? -
Slow to return to idle 14 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Have owned a 1994 M reg Renault Clio 1.4i RT from new, currently on 50k miles. It drives fine, though recently when pulling up at a junction/traffic lights, the engine has become slow to return to idle speed. By this, I mean the revs drop to about 1300rpm for about 5 seconds before then dropping to idle speed, rather than dropping to idle speed straight away. -

Excluding punctures from Recovery cover 20 Feb 2022 (Forum)
After an earlier thread about Dacia warranty including recovery excluding punctures I find that this exclusion also affects Renault. So the main reason to call for assistance is excluded and most owners will only find out when it’s too late. Like the Rip off Britain correspondent who waited four hours for the RAC to inform him that the cover excluded damage to wheels. -
Nissan Note - Used Nissan Note v Honda Jazz 30 Jan 2022 (Forum)
I have memories of Japanese car reliability from the 1980s. Does this still apply to Nissan now they are connected with Renault? Retired now and don't do many miles but the1.5 diesel looks attractive with 60mpg and £30 a year road tax. Also considering a Jazz as these look a nice car. Is there much to choose between the 1.2 and 1.4 engines? -

Ford C-MAX - Ford C Max TDCi Injector Failure 25 Sep 2016 (Forum)
Local Ford workshop replaced Injector 3, and all four seals. Injector 4 failed again three weeks ago and was replaced by Renault workshop in France. Car continues to cut to limp mode with 'Engine Malfunction', Ford workshop now recommending other two Injector valve replacements based on diagnostics. Is it likely that when one Injector fails, the other three will fail in quick succession? -
2002 Scenic 2.0 Petrol Auto - Speedo not working 31 Oct 2010 (Forum)
All repaired but cant get the speedo to work, rev counter ok and rest of display, but speedo dead. Removed what I thought was speedo sensor but apparently not as replacement I ordered through renault is totally different, seems it is something else, it links into a connector block. Anyway I cannot find the speedo sensor anywhere on the gearbox and can find no clear picture on the web either so hopefully someone can help!! -
Car Finance Deals 19 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Just idly looking at a purchase plan for a Renault in today's DT. It looks like HP. Basically one puts down zero deposit, a first payment including some fees, 35 monthly payments and a final payment at the end of which you own the car, I suppose. -
Are we patriotic about cars? 17 Mar 2007 (Forum)
If you go to any European countries, you'll mostly see local brand cars! Example: France - Citroen, Peugeot, Renault Germany - Mercedes, Audi, VW etc. Sweden - Volvo, Saab (Merc & Audi pretty well too) Spain - Seat (and Skoda too) Czech Rep - Skoda Netherlands - mostly European cars even USA - Ford, GM etc. (though many people buying Jap/Euro brands now) But see in Britain... -
2002 Laguna faulty ecu connector block 31 Dec 2006 (Forum)
I have a faulty connection in a block connector that plugs into the ecu, however according to Renault you cant get the block separately so a new wiring loom is needed!! (£400+ just because of a loose connection) I was thinking, could I cut a plug leaving approx 5cm length of wires from a car being broken and join them to the wires on the end of my wiring loom? -
French loyalty - No More 7 Aug 2006 (Forum)
For the first time ever foreign cars have outsold French cars in France. Peugout, Citreon and Renault cars accounted for 48.7% of the market with foreign makes making up the rest. Toyota had the biggest increase (and they do have a yaris factory in France I believe) in sales from last year and seem to continue their record of continully increasing sales in most countries. -
Where are all the FIATs? 18 Aug 2005 (Forum)
SWMBO is pestering me about changing her old Toyota, so far we have narrowed the choice down to another Toyota, maybe a Yaris, or a Renault Modus (my favorite), or a Panda 4x4. No she doesn't need a 4x4 but we won't go there. I value my hair colour and sanity. Years ago we had a new Fiat 131 Mirafiori and is was awful. But I am sure Fiats are fine nowadays. -
Clio Electric Windows 31 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Electric window drivers side has had a small piece of plastic which can only be described as a runner for the cable to run through. This piece of plastic snapped ( well the corner anyway ) and I have been advised by Renault dealer that I need to purchase a whole new regulator unit costing £156 + VAT. All for the sake of a 3 pence piece of plastic. Does anyone know where I can obtain this small piece of plastic without buying a whole new unit ?? -
How much less for pre-registered? 30 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I feel a bit cheap for asking but what do you think about this. My local Renault dealer will give me a £3400 discount on a Grand Scenic 1.9DCi, which I think is a terrific deal. It outdoes most of the brokers and seriously undercuts the whatcar target. I can get it a bit cheaper by using a broker that sells new but pre-registered cars. -
What's the history of folding tin tops? 25 Oct 2004 (Forum)
In recent years, MB seems to have been first with the SLK and secondly with the SL, though lately both the Pug 206CC and 307CC along with Renault's new Megane Cabrio have got in on the act. What the definitive answer? Chad.
