Carbon dioxide and melting planet lies 29 Apr 2002 (Forum)
PID=1051-450&CID=1051-042202A This is mentioned below but, as drivers are being persecuted by ever higher taxes, extra Road Fund licence fees for driving bigger, safer cars etc., all in the name of saving the planet from melting, it is very important to note. It is also noted that, as far as I know , this has not been reported in the UK Press. Some have known for a long time that the global warming myth was politically inspired and now we have the proof. -
suspiciously cheap seicento 9 Mar 2002 (Forum)
The car appears to be immaculate, but it has a 1.1 litre engine, which according to the price guide was not introduced in the UK until december 2000, a year after this car was registered. The car looks like a bargain but I am concerned that it might be a foreign import which may be difficult to sell on in the future. Can anyone suggest why this car has a 1.1 litre engine, or tell me if it may have come from abroad? All i want to know is if the car is a genuine bargain, or am i right to be slightly suspicious of it? -

Max Headroom? 2 Sep 2001 (Forum)
I will be covering about 12k miles a year mostly motorways. Other considerations such as handling, ride, economy, performance and reliability are important but secondary to space. Age/mileage not a problem more interested in condition. I intend to keep the car for 3 years and am not really concerned with resale value. I have tried a mondeo to no avail and am wary of vectras having read what HJ and others have to say about them. -
LHD in the UK 19 Aug 2001 (Forum)
Following Andy Bairsto's reply to my posting about build quality where he said that: >You pay your money and make your choice.I think thed Rover 75 is a superb >car and sells through the model range at competative price against all >commers. The base 75 costs 10500ukp upto the fully loaded with nav etc at >14500 in Germany,Mondeos base at 9800 upto 15500ukp (including German VAT at 16%!) it made me wonder why not just import a LHD car as the savings seem phenomenal. Has anybody in the UK/Ireland done this? Did you get a good deal. I guess that you'd be hammered on resale unless you sold it in France, say......still, if you were buying a car too keep for at least 5 years.... -

Cheapo Italians? 19 Mar 2001 (Forum)
Someone else was asking about Pirellis being weaker than other tyres, but could the same question be asked of Italian cars too, not to mention their other industrial goods? I used to have the import rights for various ranges of Italian manufactured goods, mostly furniture. In every single case I found that the approach of Italian industry is to concentrate on looks. True flare and beauty yes. -
