    Run flats have a reinforced sidewall which can take the weight of the car should all of the air escape. Because the sidewall on a run flat tyre won’t deform very much when there’s a puncture, it’s difficult to see a flat with the naked eye.

    Car drivers looking for the cheapest way to stay on the road have been advised that running an older vehicle is the most cost effective way to stay behind the wheel.   • Report: London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, 2013 4 Nov 2013 (News)
    It was the first British car to win an international motor race and its distinctive colour was the origin of British Racing Green. The other two Napiers lining up in Hyde Park London for this year’s Veteran Car Run – one powered by a 7.7-litre engine the other by an even more potent 11.1-litre unit – competed in the Gordon Bennett Cup races in 1903 and 1904. While the three Napiers grabbed the headlines, the 2013 London to Brighton run for pre-1905 cars, also attracted a number of exceptional entries all enjoying an unseasonably sunny run to the coast.

    I've seen this before on TV - the famous Liver Run, where two Rover SD1 police cars need to transfer a live human organ for transportation in a very limited amount of time. The journey takes place on 8 May 1987, and starts at Stansted Airport in Essex, and the traffic officer needs to drive the liver along some of the UK's busiest roads in the centre of London, to Cromwell Hospital, Kensington.
  • First Ever Skoda to Compete in London to Brighton Run 5 Nov 2010 (News)
    The Voiturette A will be on view to the public in Regent Street, London on Saturday (6 November) during the LBVCR International Concours event (11.00-15.00). The start of the 77th running of the LBVCR, the world's longest running motoring event, takes place on Sunday (7 November) in Hyde Park (07.00-08.30). From there, around 500 cars will make the 60 mile journey to the finish on Madeira Drive on Brighton’s seafront (10.00-16.40).

  • Britwell Salome Classic Car Run Raises £4,000 For Charity 21 Aug 2016 (News)
    Thanks to the boundless energy of Chris Bidgood, the hospitality of his lovely wife Susie, the exceptional organisational ability of Leigh Greenham and the enthusiastic help of Chris Grainger, Geoff Wittaker, Kas, Bob, Trevor, Gill and Rem and everyone who showed up in their priceless classics, the 2016 Britwell Salome Classic and Interesting Cars Charity Run was a huge success. Altogether, £1,959 was raised from participants on the day with more to come, to be matched by a generous equal contribution from Santander Bank. The run took us on a country route to the  Bicester Heritage  centre where we enjoyed a conducted tour of the blossoming facilities that are rapidly turning the WW2 bomber station into a 'just in time' classic car restoration centre with all manner of specialist skills available on a single site.  The charities supported by the run are Daisy's Dream , a  Berkshire charity supporting children and their families who have been affected by the life threatening illness or bereavement of someone close to them; The Cystic Fibrosis Trust that invests more money into research of this life-limiting inherited condition  than any other UK organisation; and Mission Motorsport  that  aids in the recovery and rehabilitation of those injured in military operations by providing opportunities apprenticeships and work through Motorsport.
  • 'Running in the Family' themed classic show coming in November 25 Jul 2011 (News)
    The Footman James Classic Motor Show will take place from 11 th -13 th November with a ‘running in the family’ theme. The show is set to feature cars handed down from generation to generation, or from famous family run marques and race teams. Show manager Andy Rouse said: “One of the most common expressions you hear from our visitors when walking around the halls is ‘my Dad had one of those’ and this applies to every marque, from Reliants through to Rollers!
  • The Futurecar Starts Here 6 Nov 2010 (News)
      Today, 53 eco-friendly cars took off in a reverse of the RAC London to Brighton Veteran Car Run (which takes place tomorrow) to demonstrate their eco credentials. Sadly, the Honda Jazz hybrid scheduled to be driven by Honest John got held up in UK Customs, leaving no choice but to drive a CR-Z in the Futurecar run.

Sir Ben Ainslie lead home hundreds of veteran cars on this year’s London to Brighton run. More than 400 vehicles braved wet and blustery conditions on Sunday, November 2, to complete the run. The 118th run set out from Hyde Park at day break and headed 60-miles south through London and onto a stormy Sussex coast.

    Motoring advice from Norfolk Constabulary recommends that drivers avoid "quitting" in the run-up to Christmas. Quitting is the term applied to motorists who leave their vehicle when the engine is running - an offence that can result in police action being taken.
