Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - idling problems 27 Dec 2007 (Forum)
, an ECU problem or if it is still likley to be the stepper motor (and the new one is actually the wrong one). I also read that disconnecting the battery to rest the ECU may help and I will try this shortly - I'm just not confidant it will help - if it does I'll report back within the hour (its now 10.15am 27/12) Thanks for any help with this -

Toyota Avensis Verso - Camshaft position sensor 2 Mar 2012 (Forum)
If I reset the light when the engine is warm then it will stay off until the engine cools, when the engine light comes back on. I'm thinking this is likely to be a dodgy connection as it's intermittent (it it was the ECU wouldn't the fault be permanent) but I can't trace the wire back to the ECU. Does anyone have an idea which connection on the ECU is this sensor. There are a couple of blue wires that I can get at, one gives a regular intermittent continuity to the connector but I can't see this is the correct one, why would it be intermittent? -
Nissan Almera 2.2d 136 SXE 2003 - Suspected Immobiliser Failure 25 Jun 2011 (Forum)
Our Nissan Almera 2.2d won't start, although the remote key will open the doors and let us in. The local Nissan dealer said the ECU (of which the immobiliser is part) had failed –replacement £650. ECU Testing have been able to part test the ECU and report that it is fine, but cannot test the immobiliser. Is there any other way we can try to get the immobiliser fixed without having to spend £650? -
Seat Ibiza 1.4 SE - ECU control during "running in" period. 2 Jun 2011 (Forum)
The Polo felt very flexible and long-legged, easily sailing up hills often in 5th gear, but the Ibiza is sometimes down to 3rd gear for same uphill speed. I just wonder if the ECU is programmed with a "running in" algorithm so that the engine never labours in too high a gear for the first 1000 miles or so after which it will become easier to drive. Anyone else had similar experience? -
Vauxhall Corsa B (1993 - 2000) - 99 1.2 ECU Light comes on on long fast journeys 4 Mar 2009 (Forum)
When my girlfriend drives her V reg Corsa on the motorway for some time, the ECU light comes on for a few minutes then goes out. It doesn't do it on short low speed journeys though. This has been happening for several weeks now. I have given it a mini service....changed plugs, air filter and oil. -
Vauxhall Zafira A (1999 - 2005) - 02 2.0dti ECU replacment 4 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Had independent diagnostic check with following fault codes reported (PO606-PCM processor fault) and (PO704-clutch switch input circuit fault). Advised to replace the ECU. Not contacted a Vauxhall dealership as yet, any advice from members of what to expect if/when I do. Is there an alternative to dealing directly with a Vauxhall dealership for this problem, i.e an independent (northwest Lancashire area). -
Ford Scorpio - cutting out 15 Nov 2005 (Forum)
It seems to happen 2-3 times in the morning (I start the car and go and have breakfast) and increasing numbers of time in the evening ( 2-6 ) Ford dealer has hooked the car up and tested for 2 days and the fault didn't occur. Suggested changing ECU but warned that this might not solve the problems. Other people have said that the ECU will either work or not so it's probably a fault in the distributor or coil. I have no idea and can't really afford to risk changing the ECU (£350 i think) and it not solving the problem. -
Peugeot 206 ECU Design Fault 9 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Peugeout 206 X Reg 21,000 miles Driving on the A12 around 70 mph my engine cut out leaving me with no power steering and the brakes going hard, which was extremly dangerous. Having taking it to a Peugeout Garage the problem was the ECU had crashed and is costing me £500. Having reading reports from watchdog and looking on here it appears to be a massive problem. Having written to Peugeot customer service manager saying there was a design fault they basically replied thank you for the email where not really intresred leave us alone as we no of no problem with car. -
Audi A4 climate-control tip 27 Dec 2003 (Forum)
The stepper motors had stopped moving (not good at this time of year). Audi dealer charged him £75 to look at fault codes and told him ECU was U/S. £700 P+L repair estimate. He got a secondhand ECU for £80, connected it up and it too didn't work. I had a look at the secondhand unit's PCB and found three dry joints where the ribbon cable goes to the control keys. -
Citroen Berlingo Multispace - Engine Radiator Fan 13 Aug 2010 (Forum)

01 Saxo mk2, ECU warning light problem 27 Jul 2007 (Forum)
I disconnected the battery for 2 hours, to clear any fault codes, restarted, still have the same light, took the car to my mechanic, whose has a full test setup, first used a new diagnostic tester, would not "see" the ECU, which was weird, so he then put on a old diagnostic tester, which was used on the car about a year ago, which at the time worked fine, again did not "see" or could talk to the ECU. Any idea of what it could be? -

Seat Altea 1.6 - Security Code Engine ECU 20 Oct 2014 (Forum)
Any way the dealer said it needed a new dash control panel which i agreed to , but they cannot code this to the engine ecu . Now after weeks in the garage its been decided that the security code has been removed from my engine ECU , the garage are waiting on further advice from Seat Technical , but i spoke to the garage technician who says he can put the car back to the way it was with the original control panel but i wont have a spare key and goodness only knows what they'll charge me as my quote was to replace the control panel . -
Chrysler Grand Voyager 3.3 LX - Voyager 3.3LX starting problem, no spark at plug 4 Nov 2011 (Forum)
The crank case sensor, plugs and leads have all been changed and had no effect. Last week an auto electrician examined the car and said he thought it was the ECU, only problem is that the ECU is part no. PO4727158AJ and I am told that this particular ECU cannot be test. Although I have sourced an exact replacement part no. I am told that Chrysler can charge £1000 to reprogramme one of these (I'm waiting for a call from Chrysler to confirm this).
