  • VW Polo drive shaft oil seal leak 25 Mar 2003 (Forum)
The oil seal at the nearside drive shaft inboard end (where the drive shaft comes out of the transmission case) seems to be leaking on my 2000 VW Polo. Has anyone replaced such an oil seal - is it a reasonably competent DIY job? Or is it a trip to our local friendly VW rip-off shop?

  • removal of oil stains on drives. 10 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Anyone any tips on getting oil stains out of a brick type drive. I know petrol does the job but it is not a popular method with neighbours and propriety products don't shift the marks.

  • Dropped kerb 19 Nov 2021 (Forum)
Many of the surrounding houses have been using the dropped kerb to get their vehicles onto the foot paths in front their houses/drives. In my case I use the dropped kerb and then park my vehicle on my drive, not obstructing the any footpath, any drive or the dropped kerb. I’m considerate enough to know that I shouldn’t park in front of the dropped kerb because that will obstruct him from getting his vehicles of his drive.
  • Audi A4 B6 - Breakdown costs over £2k AA Warranty not accepting 27 Jul 2011 (Forum)
AA warranty told us to take it to Halfords Autocenter, no one advised not to drive it and to recover it there and Halford Autocenter took it to a test drive to a point it needs a new engine. I think we all know that the Halfords guys too it to a test drive till it destoryed the engine but theres no way of proving it apart from when we had the car we could drive it for 10 miles or more without cutting out.
  • Test drives - Availability of lengthy drives. 20 Oct 2007 (Forum)
I was in it for 4 hours, no problem. Mazda offered me a car for up to 4 hours, as have Volvo, which I'm driving next week. Ford gave me an accompanied test drive for 10 minutes, and said that they won't do any unaccompanied drives. I thought that this might have been because they were a small dealer, but I tried another and got the same response.

  • Extended test drive 27 Jun 2013 (Forum)
I was wondering if anyone could help me in this situation. I am interested in purchasing a Kia Optima. Beautiful car but unsure how it drives. I have a test drive booked this Sunday, but it's likely just a 30 minute drive. Ideally I would like to have the car for a couple of days as I travel up and down the UK so I can see exactly how it handles every situation and how it is to live with.

  • Who do you know that doesn't have a car or drive? 7 Oct 2007 (Forum)
They walked to work, took the bus to the shops and went on longer trips by public transport and/or taxi. They were both capable of driving and IIRC had driving licenses. I could understand it if they lived in London, but as they lived in Plymough I thought it was quite an achievement. It seemed strange that he and his wife bought a house with a garage.....
  • How do you drive diesels? 5 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Hi, I'm swapping a 2004 Focus 1.8 Zetec for my first diesel later this week (2004 320d) and going through a few threads on this forum I see some hints that driving diesels might be different from petrol-engined cars - no engine braking etc. So how does it differ? What rpm should I be changing gear etc? I know about the 'surge' from the test drive (gave me a nice grin!)
