Disqualified & driving record? - frostbite
Just heard on the TV news that a chap, in Norfolk IIRC, has just been caught driving whilst disqualified for the seventy-first time!

They sentenced him to just four months.

Is this a UK record?
Disqualified & driving record? - Dwight Van Driver
Five months, plus 60 days for a breach of Licence, pokey Frostbite...Plus ASBO prohibiting from driving on UK roads without a Licence or Insurance (big deal).

He is only 39 years of age.

Had 209 (TWO HUNDRED AND NINE)previous convictions, 71 (SEVENTY ONE) from driving whilst disqualified and one for dangerous driving when he was BANNED until he passes an extended test. latest Court appearance came 2 weeks after release on Licence from HMP for drive disqualified.

Feel sorry for PU and his fellow members as his brief came up with 12 year history of heroin adiction AND that he had seen a car, being homeless he took it to sleep in.

So if he breaches the ASBO he could end up with YEARS in prison but im my book this isn't the answer. Why isn't it possible to straighten him out by detox and social responsibilty training?

DVD,
Two issues here DVD, why not an ASBO. It gves an instant power of arrest (yes they are tracked on PNC) and a likely term of imprisonment if brought before the Court - well perhaps not the frst time. The ASBO condition as stated above is flawed. I'll steer clear of why here as I would hate to give him a get out of jail free card.

Couldn't they just cut his hands off? Would be quicker and cheaper.

Wouldn't necessarily solve the problem.

I once had a lift from a driver who went 30 miles without his hands touching any controls. Scary, but possible.

Did he steer with his knees? I think I know him!

Here's another one for you, found on another forum.

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/lancashire/4319295.stm

A driver who knocked down a motorcyclist and drove off with the victim's foot embedded in his car bumper has been jailed for two months.
..........
He admitted driving without due care and attention, failing to stop after an accident and driving without insurance.
.........
xxx, a law student, also admitted driving with faulty brakes and steering, and to driving illegally with a provisional licence, which he obtained following a previous disqualification. The court heard xxx had eight points on his provisional licence

On Friday he was jailed for two months, banned from driving for two years and ordered to pay £300 compensation.

Words fail me.

Only two months locked up for that?

Proves the old point: if you want to cause mayhem, use a car -- much lighter unishmrent that for doing it any other way.

What gets me is the compensation.
