Powershift List Eligibilty 20 Nov 2006 (Forum)
This list includes cars such as certain LPG conversions, all-electric cars and all Honda, Toyota and Lexus hybrids. This got me thinking. Why are Lexus hybrids on the list? They are both large cars that emit more CO2 than many smaller cars that aren't on the list. So I emailed EST asking them what the criteria are for making a car eligible to be listed? -
Automatic gearboxes.....good or bad? 1 Nov 2022 (Forum)
Have a short list of a few cars. Audi A3 1.8 or 2.0 VW Arteon. Lexus is300h, GS450h. Skoda Octavia/Superb So how good/bad are the automatic boxes from these manufacturers. CVT, DSG etc. Only do 5000 miles a year. Thanks. -
Contract Hire / PCP / Other 21 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Considering a new car and exploring the possibility of not purchasing outright. Lexus IS for £279.99 pcm looks OK (= about £3,400 per year). Presume at that price you get nothing in the way of insurance, servicing or anything other than depreciation and financing avoidance. Is there any circumstance in which any of these schemes are actually better than buying? -

Whilst some of the more common Japanese manufactures eg toyota, mazda, honda, lexus, are well known for their reliability what are the other less common Japanese models eg Daihatsu and Suzuki like for reliability??? say in comparrison with the more common Japanese manufactures I was also hearing that Korien models are much improved - i had been told many years ago they were only good for 3-5 years do modern korien cars offer decent reliability??? -

J D Power Survey statistics 15 Aug 2005 (Forum)
How significant is (say) a 2% difference in the figures given in the J D Power tables? The table for 2005 (UK I assume) shows a difference of 11.4% between the top (Lexus at 84.8%) and the bottom (Alfa Romeo at 73.4%). The industry average is 78.6%, with Ford just above the average at 78.9% -
Any - Volkswagen now worlds biggest carmaker! 17 Mar 2017 (Forum)
Considering the amount of Audi cars alone on the British roads, VAG group cars must have overtaken Toyota/Lexus long ago in the UK. -
A comfortable 4 x 4 16 Jul 2016 (Forum)
I live in a very rural area and find the ride on the local roads to be really uncomfortable. I'm looking at getting rid of it and swapping it for a 4x4. Today I picked up a Lexus NX 300h for the weekend. I've done about 40 miles in it today and the ride is too firm for me. Can anyone recommend a 4x4 that is actually smooth to driver. My budget is around £45k. Thanks -

Product placement on film. 28 Oct 2009 (Forum)
On our very own Doc Martin and detective/spook type series' it seems to be that the no nonsense expert will drive a Lexus. There was a time when every hood was chauffered in a blacked out Benz. Does this placement cause anyone to view the product differently? ps...i always wanted to be Steed and drive that Bentley..nothing to do with Emma Peel of course you understand...or Tara King...gulp..;) -
Hybrids - is there any point? 8 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Are politicians pulling our legs? Is there any point in all the additional complexity and cost? How can a 2 tonne hybrid Lexus 4x4 possibly be seen as environmentally friendly? Nick -
Trip to Poland. 14 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Just to share my second experience to Poland in a toyota camry 2.4 litre. It is a 52 plate. Excellent car - almost likened to a Lexus. To Poland, on petrol it averaged 43 Mpg (1,000 miles) which I thought was very frugal considering. Very confortable, despite the 12 hour drive and very fast. It is a very large car and fits a lot. -
Jap Auto Diesel 8 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Whilst doing a bit of forward planning and having driven a 320d auto for a while I started to search the auto web sites for a Lexus / Honda / Toyota diesel auto. Particulalry as the recent gains in diesel exhaust technology are making them cleaner. Why don't they make them though or am I not looking in the right place ? It's a shame really because if you read reports about Honda's auto in the Accord it is supposed to be a cracking box (cracking as in good or wicked if you know what I mean). -
New Mazda 3 18 Jan 2004 (Forum)
At tick-over the engine is almost inaudible with no mechanical noise whatsoever, - the only engine that I have ever heard as quiet was on a Lexus LS430. The platform is similar to the next generation Focus and gives an excellent balance between ride comfort and handling. From our early observations, Mazda have a potential winner on their hands with their legendary reputation for reliability, and a great spec for the price. -
Three more test drives - Lexus, Peugeot and Skoda 27 Jul 2020 (Forum)
To get lumbar support you have to have the Tech and Sound pack. I could see no reason to have this Lexus in preference to a Corolla estate. I was impressed by the Corolla (previous thread) but I think my particular needs are best suited to a PHEV. Peugeot 3008 This should have suited me well. -

Range Rover - An unreliable Range Rover hybrid? Who knew? 21 Feb 2025 (Forum)
The price that Range Rover wanted to replace the battery pack with a new one is somewhat eye-watering. I guess any 10-year-old hybrid (apart from a Toyota / Lexus) is a risk, but you're never going to win gambling on an older Range Rover hybrid .... -

VAG Reliability 14 Mar 2004 (Forum)
When one thinks back to the nigh bomb proof build quality of the Mk 1 & 2 Golfs, it makes one question their future direction, and how they will survive if and when the Japanese start marketing their elite brands (Lexus,Infiniti and Accura)in large volumes in the European market.
