  • BMW headlights 9 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Has anyone else noticed how bright the dipped headlights on new BMWs are , I've been dazzled on several occasions, and personally think they're dangerous. Anyone know why , or what they're using now ?
  • BMW X1. 2016 Model - Gear lever assembly - Faulty microswitch 21 May 2021 (Forum)
Got a 5 year old BMW X1, with only 17500 on the clock.  Warning light related to parking brake comes on at ignition and switching off engine.  Fault is apparently a microswitch in the gear lever assembly.  My local garage (BMW accredited, NOT the dealer) says it requires a new gear level module as the microswitch can't be replaced independently.

I've just bought a new BMW 116 DE, and have been offered the service plus 5 year/60,000 mile package for £1,285, this include all servicing and brake pads/discs/wiper blade replacement. Not sure whether this is a good deal, as don't know what to expect to pay for replacment brakes and how many I'll get through.
  • X5 E70 - BMW independent service 4 May 2011 (Forum)
My X5 is now more than 3 years old and needs a oil service inc microfilter, and rear+front pads.BMW's own dealers have quoted more than £1000  or £1400 if discs need replacing! An independent BMW specialist has quoted £450.My question is now I do not have do stick with BMW for my now expired 3 year warranty,if I use an independent now will I have difficulty selling the car privately in the future or more importantly will I have trouble in part ex'ing my X5 for a new BMW in 2 years time?

  • BMW 5-Series E60 (2003 - 2009) - bmw reliability [Read only] 5 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Does BMW have a relibaility/durability/ problem. First it was failed turbos, then swirl flaps in the inlet manifold, what is the point of paying premium money and not getting premium quality, thier auto gear box's if not serviced properly will also fail if the the so called sealed for life auto box fluid is not changed.
  • BMW - Help! I scratched a BMW :( 11 Mar 2009 (Forum)
It was in a busy crowded hospital car park...There was a 10" long scratch on right side of his back bumper, right behind the back tyre. It is a very narrow scratch. But you can see my car's paint left on the 56 reg silver BMW. There was absolutely no dent or anything like that. The owner said he could give me a quote from a garage before claiming from my insurance. I couldn't decide whether to pay the bill or to let him claim from my insurance.
  • BMW 3-Series E90 (2005 - ) - BMW 318d DPF 22 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Hes got a 2007 318d built in march 2007 ie pre efficient dynamics and all that malarkey and I'm not sure if it has one or not. It doesn't seem to smoke much/at all but I put that down to it being pretty new. BMW dealer was no help and brochures there only talk about the new efficient dynamics models which have them. Can't seem to find anything about 07 models. Anyone any ideas?

  • from Jag to BMW (740i) 5 May 2005 (Forum)
Hi Folks Recently had a thread asking for advice on best Jags as was looking for one but instead have bought 98 BMW 740i and have to say at this stage the BMW beats the Jag hands down (my opnion). It holds the road much better and is considerably quicker than either the 3.2 Jag or the 4.0. It handles very well for a big motor and I'm hoping it will prove to relaible.

  • BMW - BMW more jobs and less jobs......More USA/Less EU 11 Mar 2008 (Forum)
The euro touched an all-time high of $1.546 last week after punching through the $1.50 level at the end of February. BMW is not the only European firm affected by the swings in exchange rates. Seems it is not Just GM & Ford suffering. Crunch affecting even the HIGH flyers as well as the laggard! BMW GB might be looking for brokers to shift some iron in contrast to their stated position of not liking discounters.

  • BMW 3 Series - BMW 330i vs Skoda Octavia vrs 25 Nov 2019 (Forum)
My annual mileage is low around 5k miles hence I am looking for a petrol. The octavia vrs and the 330i both fit in well within my budget but the bmw feels like a much nicer well putogether car. I have gone through a lot of posts and reviews online, this has left me really worried about the service costs and possible repairs that may be required if I go with the bmw.
