Berlingo - Very noisy tickover. 4 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Have been experiencing almost the same problems with my berlingo sounded like a football clacker going over time settled when I stopped but then started over idling for about 30-40 seconds when left to idle. Citroen say there is nothing they can do as no fault shows when connected to the computer....they have fiddled with the idling speed then she started cutting out when changing down to take corners so they changed the air filter then a injector ...and she had just had her 50 000 mile service...now they say it's not worth looking any further, they did say they would send the engine away to a diesel injection service in England- we're in Dundee Scotland- which would cost hundreds.....Is it only Citroen dealers that will be able to look at a Berlingo or would other dealers ie Peugot look into this and get a result...any help would be appreciated Moved over from the original 05 post - deserves to be in a post of its own - PU -
Improving Peugeot 406 HDI 2.2 136HP 24 Oct 2005 (Forum)
If not who would be good to make sure that the standard set up is maximised to its best. I've yet to meet a Pug main dealer (although isn't it a citroen engine?) who can do much above the ordinary. Come to think of it do pug/citroen have lots of tweekability or are they set up as standard pretty much at the top of their capabilities? Final consideration is that I'll prob run this car as far as I can, so if it's a case of 'the light that burns twice as bright lasts half as long' then I'll abandon it. -
Picasso, Scenic or Another? 16 Jul 2004 (Forum)
The Picasso is marginally ahead mainly due to the better reviews it gets - in general there seem to be a lot more problems with the Scenic (apologies, RF ;-)) than the Picasso. Also the Citroen seems to have more interior/luggage space. We'd probably look at a 2.0HDi or 1.8 petrol, though with our annual mileage at around 12K it probably won't make much difference to fuel costs. I'd appreciate BR's comments on the choices and particularly the following; * Any experiences of Picassos (badge snobbery, first impressions and image aside - see "Citroen Picasso" thread) or Scenics. -
French put the brake on classic car parts 15 Jan 2002 (Forum)
I recently found it difficult to get Visa pads from the usual places so went to an old established Citroen specialist of 30 years plus standing. They admitted they were running down parts for Visas but rummaged around and found me an OE set (with the asbestos warning). However, they said they would not be ordering any more when the present stock runs out because "Citroen will only accept orders of at least 10 sets at a time". -
CAR OF THE YEAR POLL RESULTS 5 Jan 2002 (Forum)
USED BANGER OF THE YEAR (UNDER £1K) Was won by the VW Golf Mk II with three times the votes of anything else. Joint second place went to the Citroen ZX diesel and Peugeot 205 diesel. Joint third was shared between the Vauxhall Cavalier, VW Polo, SAAB 900 Classic and Citroen Xantia diesel. WORST CAR OF THE YEAR CURRENTLY ON SALE NEW Big surprise, the car honestjohn website visitors most love to hate was the same one which won honestjohn car of the year, the BMW MINI. -
Vauxhall Combo Life - Combo Life - Front seats don't fully recline 13 Nov 2024 (Forum)
Does anyone know if there is anything that can be done to the seats to allow them to fully recline? The same is also true of the Citroen Berlingo, which is based on the same platform. So would probably also be true for the Peugeot Rifter, which again is based on the same platform. Many thanks -
What is the definition of a banger these days? 26 Feb 2024 (Forum)
So what is a banger? Sub £2000 cars have served me very well for over 20 years, except the £650 Citroen ZX I bought in a hurry, my fault I didn't check it over properly. Got shot of it within a year. -
Glitch in the matrix? 11 Feb 2020 (Forum)
Approaching a junction which happens to be a bit of an accident black spot in my neck of the woods, i saw what appeared to be two identical cars in positions which made it clear they had crashed into each other. As i got closer, i realised that in actual fact one was a silver Citroen C1, the other was a silver toyota Aygo, so not quite identical, but as near as dammit!. The C1 was on the verge, but the Aygo was down an embankment and had clearly rolled. It was a weird sight, and got me thinking about how often this might happen, that two very similar or identical cars crash into each other?.
