Supermini - which one? 30 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Ok guys, I'm off to buy a car this weekend. Nothing over 1 year old and more than 5000 miles. I want something reliable, slightly sexy looking and fun to drive. Have a budget of around 8 - 9k. Like the look of the Renault Clio and the Peugeot 207 but have heard nightmare stories regarding French reliability. -

Renault EGR issue / Warranty Direct 5 Jun 2007 (Forum)
My Scenic is now 3 years old so out of warranty. I have heard all about the EGR issues and my car, although showing no signs of this, has had a life of stop/start town journeys which seem to be a factor in EGR issues. If I decide to keep the car, I would probably want to buy a warranty. -
Tyre pressure monitors 25 May 2007 (Forum)
It also said (predictably) that I should consult my dealer when changing tyres. So how do they work and can an old tyre fitter put new tyres on. (Cars only got 800 miles on it so far, so no worries yet) -
Who makes the best small diesel engine? 12 May 2007 (Forum)
My old Punto is nearly dead so I am looking to replace it with a small diesel car for my daily commute to work (50 miles a day mostly on the motorway). I don't have much cash so will probably have to buy a high mileage used car. -
Failing battery in Focus remote? 3 Mar 2007 (Forum)
We've noticed, over the past few days, that the range of the remote (radio) locking key to SWMBO'S Focus seems to be getting much reduced. As the car is coming up to 5 years old, we suspect that the battery in the key is dying. Instructions in the manual seem very straightforward for changing the battery, but can anyone tell me if there any additional things to watch out for - for example, in some cars you have to change the battery within "x" seconds otherwise the code is lost. -
Vectra 1.8 iLS Fob Reprogramming 23 Jan 2007 (Forum)
I have a spare 2-button fob for a Vectra which I got through my local scrapyard. I've been to Vauxhall and they want to charge me £20 for the Car Pass card (which I don't have as I bought the car second-hand), £93+VAT for a new fob (they don't like reporgamming old ones) and an unspcified amount for the actual reprogramming. Anyone know a cheaper way to repgram it as I have the original fob which is a bit past it's sell-by-date and needs replacing? -
Fortune Telling 12 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Time to change cars in a couple of months time. We usually buy a 1 year old and sell on its 3rd birthday. I would like to try and forsee what spec. will be in demand in a couple of years time. So, what colour car should I buy now, air con or climate, alloys or steel, sun roof any use, hatchback or saloon, and so on. -
Do vans have rust protection? 3 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Just wondered because my Suzuki is a constant battle against rust spots and my next door neighbours Sprinter and Master vans both have rust around fittings ( not from impact damage ) and in the seams. It seems like a very common thing, so are these vans getting rust protection thats the same as cars? I cant see that they are as ive not seen many rusty 5 year old Renault cars, but their vans are a whole different story judging by the ones ive seena round and the same goes for Merc ( but then thats much less of a suprise! -

Buying high milers 28 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Sorry to bring this old chestnut up again, but I'm not worried about engines or mechanicals, but seats. (Of all things). In VAG group cars, how well do the seats stand up to high miles? I guess if they are worn out you can just buy a new one - how much do they normally cost? -
Hillman minx series 3 Radio 9 Apr 2006 (Forum)
I have an original hillman minx radio in my car but unfortunately it doesnt seem to work, dont really want to take it out but I do need music. If i have another stereo put in elsewhere, is it simple to convert the car to accept it(positive/negitive issues)or is there somewhere you people might know where i can pick up good old fashioned stereo that works, which wont be too expensive which i can get for my little motor (local breakers yard no good). -
Warranty Ford 17 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Hey What do you think of this. I have a two year old car from Ford with a 3 year exteneded warranty which my warranty guide (issued 2003) says is simply an extension of the original one year. I have a problem which is covered by this. Ford say they will not cover it as their warranty changed to limit cover in 2004. -

VW Polo '02: Servicing? 6 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Its not being serviced (next week) by a VW dealer: I want to ensure that all that should be done will be. Any idea what this should cost? The car is in warranty, two years' old; the brakes have always been a little noisy, since new. Should I expect VW to look at them? I think HJ has said in the past that brakes were an issue with this car. -
Honda Legend LPG conversion 31 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I am tomorrow (1st February) changing to a Honda Legend, 1999 3.5 litre model. I have spoken to Powershift who say the car is not eligable for a grant (car is over 5 years old) and been on the website www.greenfuel.org.uk who quote £1,870 for the conversion with a projected saving of £1,126.88 per annum based on an annual mileage of 12,000.
