Problem getting a resonable price newish van MPV 6 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Some may think my principles are wrong to refuse to pay more than £10 grand for a vehicle which is no more than a van with seats, but im astonished at some of the manufacturer mark ups and the unwillingness of dealers who are more interested in a finance deal than straight cash. I anyone can reccomend any offers/dealers/advice then please do so. We are in need of a second car and I dont want to have to take out a short term rental. I did try a renault dealership regarding the new kangoo and they offered £250 of list price, also im not convinced about the durability of the kangoo van. -
Ford Fiesta (2009 - ) - Help need on this deal from Ford 3 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Ford has offered me this deal out of the blue and I have been thinking ever since. I have a 16 month old Fiesta Zetec Climate (3 Door). I bought my car on Passport finance scheme and pay £170 per month. The scheme works in such a way that you pay £170 per month for 34 months and at the end you get a guaranteed future value, which is around £2900. At the end of the term, you can either clear off this and keep the car or refinance the amount, or give the car away to Ford altogether (provided it is in decent condition) Now, I have already made a payment of 16months and got remaining 18months to pay before I reach the guaranteed future value part. -
Advice on my next car 28 Oct 2009 (Forum)
No desire for a convertible, MPV or four wheel drive. I want to buy second hand as I don't really have a large budget to finance the replacement, maybe £2,000-£3,000 max. I really dislike mini-mpvs, especially a hire car Vauxhall that leaked oil over the new drive a couple of years ago. Before I get the chequebook out for the cam belt, I would welcome any wisdom you might share in choosing a replacement car, should I go down that path. -
Learners buying brand new cars - why? 15 Jun 2009 (Forum)
I think my car is a perfect balance as it has 3 star NCAP (not great but that awful either) all the electrics, PAS etc but I have not invested too much capital into it either. I think I am very lucky to have a car which don't tend my finances, yes insurance is £50 a month and I spend around £50 a month on repairs but a new car would cost me at least £200 a month. My dad just keeps going on about how I am spoilt with my 10 year old car because his first car only ran on 3 cylinders, needed 1 litre of oil a week, had no brakes etc etc. -
Volkswagen T5 Caravelle (2003 - ) - Scam or Legit 21 Feb 2008 (Forum)
First let me say that the car is available for 9200 GBP,the car is in perfect conditions ,no flaws or dents, no scratches or any kind of damage,no engine problems, no hidden defects, the car has not sustained any damage whatsoever. The interior is in like new condition and has never been smoked in. There is no outstanding finance on the car. The car is still UK registered, the problem is that at this moment I am located in Germany for the next 3 months because I've just started a new business here with an old friend of mine. -
End of Life Vehicles - Lost opportunity? 1 Jan 2003 (Forum)
I cannot help but think that as 75% of most cars can be recycled, with effective investment and automation the self financing potential is there. Figures I have heard quoted is £40 cost of recycling these cars with only £8 revenue on average. However, when you look at the comparative prices of copper and aluminium compared to that of steel, and then think of all those wiring looms, replacement brake pipes, cylinder heads and other fittings that simply seem to get lost in the process, one does wonder. -
Citroen DS5 - New CITROEN DS5 - bad paint job, steering faults 15 Feb 2019 (Forum)
Friday (21.03.2014) I took delivery of a brand new Citroen DS5 which I bought with finance by PCP provided by Barclays Partner Finance. As soon as I drove the car from the dealer I've noticed Steering and Braking faults with the car. The most obvious defect was the fact the car suffered from a bad wheel alignment, the steering wheel stayed all the time lean to the left and the car was pulling constantly left, no matter of the camber of the road. -

Hyundai i30 Estate - Hyundai. A modern ghost story. 9 Mar 2012 (Forum)
Scott was happy with that; there was just one further point that needed clarifying: if we bought the car today, would it be a PX plus cash, or did we need finance? If the latter, then could we please bring IDs to prove who we were and where we lived. We said, if we did decidede to do a deal, we wouldn't need finance. Right, Scott said. It's 10.30am now. -

Renault Clio - Second Hand Car - Dealer Warranty Fraud 7 Sep 2023 (Forum)
The dealer is still adamant they will not repair or replace the vehicle and I am at a loss as to how they can take this stance. I have contacted the finance company for their assistance but what else can I do without having to go through a lengthy and costly court process. I need my car! What are my rights? What would you do in this situation? Really difficult situation as I don’t have a few grand lying around to pay for the repairs myself! -

Volvo Audi - 2 Ltr petrol non Turbo options plus VAG 1.9TDI 11 Jan 2023 (Forum)
Have specifically avoided Skoda and VW due to the early 1.4 tsi engine issues. I have decided to keep to a very strict budget to avoid the fun of car finance and I do like owning cars outright. These are all double the price of the UK but we don't have the salting so much and the air is much dryer generally! All cars subject to all electronics especially the air con working of course. -
Audi Q2 - Audi Q2 clutch failure & left on suspension blocks 14 Feb 2022 (Forum)
We purchased our new Q2 in November 2020 and its our first experience with an Audi and also new cars on finance. To date the car has done just over 10,000 miles, we do not use it for commuting or motorway driving, just use it mainly errands or social visits at weekends etc. Unfortunately after a few weeks of a gluey feeling with gear changes and also a weird burning smell, the clutch completely failed last week and the car was towed to our nearest Audi dealership for diagnostics. -
Help me choose a used car please… 11 Aug 2021 (Forum)
I have been slightly put off the Focus after reading about the issues with PowerShift. Money isn’t an issue as I have savings and so wouldn't need finance. I know absolutely nothing about cars so would like something that is reliable and low maintenance, but equally I am reluctant to spend unnecessarily on a car that will spend most of its life sitting on the road outside my frontdoor gathering dust and only be used for 2k-3k miles per year. -
Cheapo Cars (Again) - The Philosophy 7 Nov 2020 (Forum)
Unfortunately I had to reject the car (old corrosion on roof) and the case went to the Financial Ombudsman. Ultimately, in late September 2020 I 'won' - the finance company (LBG) paid me my deposit (+ 8% interest), my monthly payments less one (to cover the 900 miles I'd driven the car) and £75 for 'biggeration'. The day after they collected the car it was back up for sale at the main franchise dealer at full price. -
Suzuki Baleno - Problems with new (used) car 29 Jan 2020 (Forum)
Sent email to Suzuki customer services, prompt reply saying nothing to with us, take it up with dealer, your contract is with them (no it isn’t, that’s one reason I bought it on PCP). This morning I called Suzuki Finance (they have a special Quality Department but they don’t advertise it). They initially wanted to push it all onto dealer but we discussed it. I told them I was happy to work with them and if they wanted to involve their dealer I would cooperate. -
What car for 32 mile daily commute? 4 Sep 2019 (Ask HJ)
