  • ECU repaired and failed 7 days later - any advice 18 Jun 2010 (Forum)
Hi, I had the ECU on my citroen fail a couple of weeks ago.  The garage I took it to did a repair on it which they told me it was a semi-to-permament repair.  I didn't want to fit a new one (at at cost of £1,000).
  • Sister needs another car 29 May 2010 (Forum)
My sister is due to receive £ 1500 for a Citroen that was stolen and burned out a month ago and is interested in a Focus size hatchback. I advised her against another petrol Xsara as they are unreliable and expensive to maintain. Her main choices would be a Ford Focus, Peugeot 307( I am advising her that pre 55 plate ones can be very troublesome) and a Vauxhall Astra.
  • Credit Crunch Takes its toll: Volume 1.[Read only] 26 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Wednesday - completely empty, not a soul in sight, every car gone. So, it's either the competition from Trade Sales, which seems, considering Citroen just opened a new showroom just down the road, or they cannot sell cars in the current financial climate. Trade-Sales hasn't looked that busy either come to think of it...

  • Peugeot 106 (1991 - 2002) - Tyres fitted underneath the boot 1 Mar 2008 (Forum)
While driving to this morning I saw a 57 plate Citroen C4 SX (if I remember correctly) in front of me with the tyre fitted underneath the boot of the car. I've had this in my Peugeot 106 and I'm sure there are few more cars out there with the same sorts of fitting.
  • Peugeot 106 (1991 - 2002) - 1994, 1.5D, injector codes/part number 14 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Hi All, have just got hold of four brand new injectors for my 106. They are original Peugeot/Citroen injectors, part number 1980.21 on the box. However on closer examination the injectors have the code LUCAS LDC-010R01 A GMG written on them and my current injectors have the slightly different LUCAS LDC-007R01 A DMG on them.
  • Cheap commuters diesel 2 Nov 2007 (Forum)
ll return at least 48mpg @ approx 75mph motorway driving. Not bothered about badge, but reluctant to go for Peugeot or Citroen, for such high miles, and low budget. Any suggestions / advice? Thanks
  • New Twingo and Pug 308 31 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Saw both these in France over the weekend. Both disappointments. The Twingo looks for all the world like a faclifted Citroen C2, especially from the side and rear. The front is just plain bland. What with the new Laguna, whatever happened to Renaults design flair?? The original Twingo is still an outstanding piece of design, but doubtless the new one will be cheaper to make and more profitable ... yawn!
  • Down on the farm 23 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Anyone else watch this programme on Discovery Real Time?. A recent episode showed the main farmer (an ecology minded downsizer) converting his Citroen van to run on neat Veg oil. Nothing new there, even if he seemed pleased with himself to have discovered a way to save the earth, but I noticed that during and after the show there was no mention of the need to pay tax on the Veg oil used.
  • Future of Peugeot at Ryton 28 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Hi, I've recently been informed that i'm through to the final assessment centre for PSA Peugoet Citroen's Graduate Operations Management Scheme. This would mean working in the Ryton fatcory, Coventry. I understand that Ryton is under threat as a long term production site for Peugoet, as the new 207 will soon be out, and whilst there will be an overlap with the 206 (made at Ryton) obviously the 206 will be phased out eventually.
  • Insurance heart attacks 13 Jan 2006 (Forum)
I'm now 21 and have been driving for 3 years, so thought about getting a quote for my car. (1998 Citroen Xsara 1.9TD) Tried First Alternative - told them I had no NCD, had no accidents in last 5 years or penalty points, and drive 5000 miles per year, with the car on the driveway in Devon. Cheapest quote (with 250 pound excess and no other options, and a 10% online discount) was... ...wait for it...
  • can a garage charge if they don't fix it 17 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Our Citroen Berlingo Multispace, purchased March 2002, was, after a while, discovered to have dampness in the front passenger footwell. It was taken in to the supplying garage, which changed what they called the "shower curtain" in the passenger door - and did the job under warranty.
  • "Which" reliability report 8 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Excellent: Ford / Honda / Hyundai / Lexus / Mazda / Suzuki / Toyota Good: Daihatsu / Kia / Mitsubishi / Nissan / Proton / Subaru Average: Chrysler / Daewoo / Jaguar / Jeep / Mini / Porsche / Skoda / Smart / Vauxhall Poor: Alfa Romeo / Audi / BMW / Citroen / Fiat / Mercedes Benz / Peugeot / Renault / Saab / Seat / Volvo / VW Oh how the mighty have fallen! _____ A few anomalies, the RX8 and C-Max suffered an above average % of Breakdown's where most Volvos, Vauxhalls and VWs were OK regarding breakdowns though clearly suffered in respect of Faults and Niggles, to use the "Which" terminology. _____

  • Vauxhall Warranty Cover 3 Mar 2005 (Forum)
The only small print in the warrenty booklet says that wear & tear items, soft trim and consumables are not covered, but dosn't seem to exclude anything else. I've never had this sort of problem with Skoda, Mitsubishi or even Citroen warranties. Thanks for any feedback!
  • Vectra VS Citreon C5 12 Feb 2005 (Forum)
I am also unsure as to which particular model and engine size, I do have a rough idea but wanted some of your opinions. I know that the Vectra 2.2 is particularly thirsty and not too economical, the Citroen has some quailty issues and soem niggles but is very comfortable and provides good spec for the money. I am looking for a 52 plate onwards and have around £10k to spend, does anyone have a 2.0 DTI Vectra I would be pleased to hear from, also Saloon or hatch?
  • Dealers, Servicing and Warranties 28 Oct 2004 (Forum)
I read (I think) not so long ago that many manufacturers had dropped the stipulation that, for a warranty to be valid and honoured, the car had to serviced by a main dealer. (A practice I had always seen as a stitch up, as they will always charge more). I was at a Citroen dealership yesterday, and heard some poor bloke trying to get something fixed under warranty. The dealership were arguing that, as it had been serviced by an independent, the warranty was now void.
  • Small Automatic Diesel 4 or 5 door 10 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Why oh why, when the roads are so bad do the manufactures assume that we all have German bottoms and wish to corner on the door handles?I am therefore looking at the present Ford Focus, C3(not availble in Auto diesel)or the coming Citroen C4, Tyota Yaris, new Fiat & perhaps the new Astra. Plus any others that you might. My thanks in anticipation
  • Good designs spoiled! 26 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Here are some I can think of: Mercedes A-class - odd rear window/C-pillar shape (forthcoming replacment looks better. Alfa Romeo 156 - offset number plate looks like a trade plate. Citroen C2 - design spoiled by silly side window styling. Early 90's BMW 3 series - (when BMW still made good looking cars!)- oddly sculpted sill panel looked like it has been dented by driving over a high kerb!
