Nissan Sunny (1986 - 1991) - 88 1.4 Fuel and temp guages both not working 17 Jun 2010 (Forum)
I bought this car as a very cheap little runaround after the demise of my Peugeot van but the fuel and temp guages dont register anything. It might be coincidence that they are both not working but I wonder if there is a known fault, maybe behind the dash. (The two guages are side by side). Other than that, for a 22 year old car that cost just £250 with tax and test it is pretty damn good! -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 02 1.8 Temp & Fuel Gauges on when ignition off 6 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Hi, I have a 2002 Focus Focus TDCI, which has developed an odd fault. When I switch the ignition off, the Fuel & Temperature gauges go to the halfway position (normally they park at zero) When the ignition is on, the gauges return to zero then work normally. There is a post (morrisoxford 24 dec 2007), but no fix given. -
Subaru Legacy and Outback Petrol (2004 - 2009) - 2.0 - Fuel economy around town 23 Nov 2009 (Forum)
AT 70mph this delivers me an indicated 35mpg (borne out by brim-to-brim), and at an indicated 80 it delivers an indicated 31-32 (again borne out by brim-to-brim). But around town I can watch the fuel gauge falling as I drive. I doubt it's delivering 10mpg. Is this normal? In the sort of traffic that takes 30 minutes to cover 5 miles across the centre of town. -
Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 04 1.8TDCi cutting out and Low Fuel economy. 26 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Two issues: 1- Cutting out at random times, usually within 5 mins of starting. Starts up again perfectly OK 2 - Very low fuel economy. Has dropped from 52/53 to 42/44mpg. Will Putting diesel clean through help. Do i need to think about something more serious. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 02 2.0 tdci fuel filter change 14 Oct 2009 (Forum)
hi all, ive never change a fuel filter on a diesel, do i need to fill the thing with diesel first? if so is it via the 'in' nozzle on the filter? Also where is the oil filter and washer pump on ths car, i want to change all filters but the washer has packed up, though the wipers still work so im guessing its not a broken fuse! -
Peugeot 406 (1999 - 2004) - 02 2.1 Fuel Flap Removal - 406 Estate 29 Jun 2009 (Forum)
I need to remove the fuel flap on my 406 estate. I've trawled through the 'Paynes' manual but there seems to be nothing telling me how to remove it. There is a hook shaped piece on it that has broken off and this is preventing it being 'flipped open when pulling the release cable. -
Motorists to vote labour out 26 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Firstly, lets all hope that fuel prices continue to rise :) Secondly, as much as I dislike the current government, I don't see how they can be blamed for the price of oil/fuel. Are two thirds of AA members idiots? -
Mercedes Benz E-Class W210 (1995 - 2002) - 2000 2.2/3.0 Mechanical Fuel Injection 19 May 2008 (Forum)
I am considering buying a W124 or W210 E class Mercedes and would appreciate if someone could advise when M. Benz ceased production of diesel engines with Bosch mechanical fuel injection systems. Could someone also please advise when M. Benz switched to common rail diesel engines ?? Many thanks for your help. -
Fuel prices California style 11 May 2008 (Forum)
The folks out here are starting to hurt with the fuel prices. Here in Placerville the cheapest regular unleaded is now $3.98, with premium at $4.45...diesel is also $4.45 US gallon. There was a front page article in USA Today yesterday about how the latest increase is having a major impact on how people are changing their driving habits...big trucks sales are taking a hammering, and even my friend with her 2.5 Outback now remarks on how expensive it is to gas up. -
Renault Scenic (2003 - 2009) - 2004 ,1.9dci fuel cosumption problem 24 Jan 2008 (Forum)
my fuel consuption has dropped to 28 mpg,it starts fine but after driving for around 5 mins pull up at a set of lights and it missfires like mad ,it's been put on a code reader but comes up with no faults,it seems to run fine maybe a little loss of power but hardly noticeable,i have just had new heater plugs fitted but that was due to the engine management light appearing , -
Vauxhall Cavalier (1988 - 1995) - (88-95) 1.7TD - Can I mix Bio Fuel and diesel? 11 Jan 2008 (Forum)
I have a diesel car (Isuzu engine) which previous owner ran on bio fuel.is it ok to refill with diesel when bio fuel is still in tank {before anyone asks what car and engine, I've found the details via a forum search. Helps if you include that info to make the question less vague!} -
Supermarket Fuel 30 Nov 2007 (Forum)
There are 3 diesels in the family - and all of us have nnoticed that when we use supermarket fuel (especially Tesco) we get 3 to 5 mpg LESS than we do when we fill up with Shell. Fortunately, our Shell garage sells at the same price (sometimes cheaper - even with Tesco 5p off a litre) than the local Tesco and Morrisons, but I've tended to use Tesco simply to get Clubcard points. -
Vauxhall Zafira A (1999 - 2005) - Dti - fuel consumption 17 Jan 2007 (Forum)
For 2 1/2 years (since the car was new) ive been questioning the fuel consumption figures, the best my self and the vauxhall garage can get out of it is 41mpg (the official figures are 53mpg). Vauxhall have had the car back about ten times and changed a variety of parts but no improvement, they are now saying that this mpg is exceptable. -
VWbeetle - fuel tank jelly engine probs 15 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Am having engine problems (pop-pop-popping & more recently just cutting out). We think its being caused by an opaque/translucent jelly from the fuel tank which we have found blocking filters, the carb needle valve, main jet, emulsion tubes - its getting into everything! After clearing the car will work for a while but this jelly returns quickly. -
My car has got FMT 15 Oct 2006 (Forum)
I have always used optimax as a preffered fuel when it was convenient to fill up with it and have started using V power now it has replaced optimax. While in the qeue at the filling stn I started to read the V power leaflet and it talks about one of the fuels properties being this Friction Modification Technolgy. -
peugeot hdi economy 1 May 2006 (Forum)
Just wondered if people could let me know what their fuel economy is on peugeot HDI engines. My dad just got a 406 estate 2.0L (110bhp) and got 850 miles out of 1 tank believe it or not. Im interested in the 306 HDI but wondered if the fuel economy is as good? -
Pug406 HDi Fuel Pump 16 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Not sure I dare ask this in light of previous posts.... My 406 has started making a low 'brrrrrrr' noise which seems to come from the fuel pump on the engine. It started intermittently but now seems to do it all the time, but the car runs fine. Any clues as to it's cause? Is it likely to be a sign of internal damage - cue big bills? -
