Ford Fiesta Flight 1.3 R Reg second hand fuel pump - KeefyH44

My car refused to start and the AA diagnosed a shorted turn fuel pump. Garage wants £552.25 for a new one. excluding labour. Outrageous for a 13yr old car. I can't afford to replace the car nor pay silly money for a pump. A washing machine pump is around £15 and there isn't that much difference. Anyone know where I can get a recon or second hand one?

Working in a breakers I can tell you, £20 sounds right and its a fuel tank out job to swap so expect minimum of 1 hour labour charge at garage, probably want more though as the 2 rear captive nuts always turn and cause issues.

My 21 yr old XR3i Escort sun roof unit finally succumbed to the dread rot. Units no longer available new. Put it on the Web and these were the only ones that could come up with second hand part in above average condition. New £348 they quoted 70. Ordered and before they posted changed my mind and cancelled. No problems whatsover and monies there and them returned to my bank.

Poor old girl goes next Thursday replaced with a Nissan under Nissan scrappage scheme.
