I hope it's me 11 Feb 2005 (Forum)
Would you stop at one or two or would you have your own fleet? Would any one of you actually drive round in the car you?ve already got? My choice is easy, Audi A8 W12 (well I?ve got two kids) -
Best place for wheel check 23 Aug 2004 (Forum)
I put it down to not driving it very often and SWMBO wouldn't notice whether the car had 3 wheels or 4! Bearing in mind that the Audi dealership has said that all is OK, would a reputable tyre dealer be a good place to get a 2nd opinion? I have a good one around the corner in SW London. -
used car for 8K 27 Jun 2004 (Forum)
He is not at all keen on Modeao, 406, Vectra etc etc...my, at 8-9k he could buy a used high ,mileage Audi A6 or BMW 525, but in my opinion if anything major was to fail then it could cost dearly. I have also suggested to him a tdi vw passat available for 6-7k or Accord for 5k and pocket the spare cash. -

The Ugly Stick Strikes Again 4 Dec 2003 (Forum)
The 7 and 5 are hideous, the 3 Compact has the ugliest rear of any car on the road and the X5 looks more pimp-mobil by the week. Audi must be laughing all the way to the Deutsche Bank. -
New Jag XJ - Best Car in the World? 4 Jun 2003 (Forum)
JC, on Top Gear on Sunday, put as strong a case for the Jaguar as he did for I K Brunell - and I tend to agree with him on both - IK {Brunell} and the XJ {Jag} He appears to say that the Jag is better than anything Merc, Audi or BMW etc have to offer. So is the XJ still 'The Best Car In the World' as the Series I Jag was named by the motoring press over 30 years ago? I tend to think so - but I'll never know, can't even afford the 8 year old £6k example that he talked of! -
If not Laguna, then what?? 30 Apr 2003 (Forum)
I can probably get most things in the £18-24k band (and a bit above), but lease costs are obviously higher for stuff like audis/beemers/mercs etc. I know I can get a Mondeo diesel Ghia X for the same outlay s the renault, but I don't think it looks as good, and I'm not keen on the look of the passat either. You just seem to get a far better equipped car for your money with the renault (and i admit it - I like toys!) -
Wind Screen Wipers gone Barmy 28 Apr 2003 (Forum)
The windscreen wipers on my 1993 Audi S2 have gone barmy - specifically the intermittent position. When I switch the wipers to intermittent I get anything from a single wipe to 20 wipes before it pauses. It will then do the same again, but with a different number of wipes. -
Coolant Temperature 14 Jan 2003 (Forum)
The car had stood for no longer than 1 minute before I started filling the screen wash reservoir. Car: Sept 2000 X reg Audi TDi 115PS, mileage 29,400, still has original coolant, which looks lovely and pink and clean! 30,000 mile service due soon. Do I need to get this attended to under warranty? Thanks Pat -
Choosing my insurance 21 Sep 2002 (Forum)
I am a 'young driver' (i.e. in the 21-24 bracket), male, (I know, not looking good so far) and drive an Audi Coupe 2.0L (oh yes, it's gonna be expensive!). Last year was with Adrian Flux, this year, best quote so far (TPFT) is with Norwich Union, at £650 (very impressed with this one). Have also tried Tescos and Direct Line, who come in at about £800. -
Mobil 1 and more on oil... 5 Sep 2002 (Forum)
** Moved from the end of "Halfords oil offers" ** Since I am coming up to my next service on my 1991 Audi Coupe, I am starting to think about choice of oil. As I've had the car for a year, I obviously don't know what oil was used before I bought it. In my last service (a 20000 mile rather than a 10000 mile) I had a semi-synthetic (brand unknown) oil put in by the mechanic. -
VW Golf mk iv Quality 13 Apr 2002 (Forum)
- Boot flooded from broken rear washer - Rear seats flooded from broken rear washer pipe in roof - Used 1L of oil in first 7K (has not needed any since then) - Rear light bulbs replaced 3 times with only 12K on the clock (Dealer has been great - dealt with all issues quickly) I have read a lot of similar posts from other VW owners - I am considering buying a new A4 1.9TDi next year and am wondering if Audis suffer from the same issues? Any feedback from A4 owners would be much appreciated. Thanks -

Audi A8 - Air suspension saga 1 Jul 2024 (Forum)
Lots of air was lost from the system when the clever car tried to keep itself level by transferring air from the accumulator to the leaky strut (see Audi SSP 292, P31). If overworked, the compressor or its relay might fail. To locate the leaky strut, I used ‘jack mode’ to prevent level equalisation. Next day only the front driver’s side had bottomed out. -
Help me narrow down these choices for me please! 23 Aug 2025 (Forum)
Lol I want to avoid Qashqai's as I've heard the ones that are available within my budget (upto 2015ish) are quite problematic. VW Tiguan: Same reason why I am choosing to avoid Skoda's/Audi's, because gearbox issues. I've not known anyone that's managed to get these cars to high mileage without gearboxes failing or causing major issues. However happy to be proven wrong. Audi Q5; see above. -

Mercedes E220 CDI SE Tip - Company Car Allowance - Tax Implications 17 May 2013 (Forum)
Hi All Bare with me here, I tend to go on a bit! I currently have an Audi A3 Sportback S-Line 1.4 TFSI Auto company car, this goes back in September. I cover 20k per annum roughly. I have recently become a father and am finding that space is previous, cloth seats get stained, and sports suspension + low profile tyres are killing me. -
