Leo the Leaf replacement 23 May 2025 (Forum)
After viewing numerous tatty Leaf’s, and several overpriced Kia Niro’s most with zero history (so no battery warranty) and poor accident repairs, we’ve bought a 22 plate 18,000 mile VW ID3 58kwh Pro Performance Max instead - bring back L/LX/GL etc. Car is mint, approved used and as part of VW’s used car event it comes with two years VW warranty, breakdown cover, a £250 finance contribution and free servicing. If you take a PCP, which I have and will pay off immediately. -
Any - Losing Confidence In Your Indy? 20 Dec 2019 (Forum)
She took it to the indy, who supposedly looked at, saw a minor oil leak, diagnosed a leaking rocker cover gasket (which may cost £200), said they;d tightened it but it wasn't worth fixing. The car has an airbag warning light lit, and they said it wouldn't pass the next MOT. She just called me.Fortunately, she has access to a very well qualified, non financially motivated, specialist who has looked at the car. -
Mk1 Ford Focus - Ford Focus starting issues 4 Dec 2019 (Forum)
The next day it struggled to start as per, so i booked it in to have the glow plugs changed. All went well after the repair and the car fired up with no issues. Yesterday morning, the first use after the glow plug change, the car started after a few attempts, but cuts out straight away after starting. Wont even let me put some revs on, just dies?? -
Ford Focus ST - Engine High Tempurature 11 Mar 2018 (Forum)
Observation showed the coolant was bubbling and whilst the coolant was just above min at the start it was way over max within minutes (clearly due to pressure); naturally the fans on the engine radiator were on. Now my issue is I’m at home can’t really take it anywhere and have no breakdown cover. Ford when speaking to them advised of the replacement extended tank but as it stands not sure; they want to pick the car up and effective strip elements of the car... sounding very expensive investigation work. -
Not motoring but Flying.. - Ryanair, Shame.. same as car maufacturers? 5 Oct 2017 (Forum)
i was then offered a 5% discount and then 10%, but refused as my booking was within the time frame to cancel. There are makes of cars i will no longer purchase in future, because of poor service. Has every service industry in the country gone to the dogs? Rant Over 9for now) ORB -
Jaguar XJ8 - HPI shows different model (Executive / Sovereign) 6 Jan 2016 (Forum)
Hi guys, First post so sorry if this is already covered in another thread but I couldn't find it if there is. I've been looking at a used Jaguar XJ8 3.2 (2000 reg) - the car looks great and feels fantastic. Engine runs well, suspension is sound and log book provides a full service history up until a year or so ago when the gear box went. -
Audi A3 quattro - Loss of grip 23 Jan 2015 (Forum)
The intention was to let the car "walk" itself down the slope using engine braking. This is something I have done many times over the years. Imagine my horror when the car begin to pick up speed and I was losing not only grip but steering control. -
FIAT Scudo - failed ECU sales of goods act 3 Oct 2013 (Forum)
I purchased a FIAT Scudo Van in autumn 2008. In November 2012 the car stopped due to a faulty ECU. After having been sent by the vendor to an authorized dealership the car eventually got fully tested and repaired...at a cost of just under £2500 Initially the authorized dealership felt FIAT might cover such fault which seems very rare and my van (in light domestic use) in very good shape. -
Vauxhall Corsa C - no insurance due to info not updated 10 Nov 2012 (Forum)
The vehicle details have not been changed and therefore she had been driving for 4 weeks not insured. I ended up purchasing 24 hour insurance cover so me and my husband could pick up the car and he could drive it home, the policeman was very nice about it all and didnt want to have to impound the vehicle for £125 and £25 per day and give my daughter 6 points and a criminal record. -
Ford Focus Saloon 1.8 Petrol - Leaking Water into Spark Plug bays/housings 17 Dec 2010 (Forum)
As he did not know where about the pollen and air filter was decided to take engine cover off and discovered quite a large amount of water within the spark plug wells/housing. He cleaned out the water which seemed to have little bits in it but the air filter and oil looked dirty suggested get service done mid December when get paid. -
Peugeot 106 (1991 - 2002) - 1998 1.5 diesel cam belt change 5 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I have the 1.5 diesel as opposed to the earlier 1.4 with 73k miles on the clock. The previous owner who had the car from 6 months old and 3k miles assured me that the car was regularly serviced but did not know what a cam belt was or weather it had been changed? I am a pretty decent DIY?er and actually work for a major OEM in the UK but have always tended to shy away from the diesel cam belt replacements. -
Ambulance Service getting a raw deal 20 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Yep....I really have had 15 Notice of Intended Prosection for speeding! and yep i was driving. However, they were all at work and in the response car going to emergencies, and they all arrived on station for me today along with everyone elses For some reason, a certain police force that covers my area (naming no names) has decided to start issuing us all with NIPs if we go more then 20mph over the speed limit. -
BMW - Business Navigation - Any good? 19 Aug 2008 (Forum)

Mercedes Benz SL W107 (1971 - 1989) - 1989 3 litre rear axle area knock. 14 Nov 2007 (Forum)

Time to change the car - help 22 Feb 2007 (Forum)
I've been a company car driver for the past 10 years, but this time (March 2007) I plan on opting out and taking the cash alternative for various reasons. I currently drive a Toyota Avensis T3-x D-4D Hatch which has served well (even if it is slow!). -
Tarmac v Monobloc 31 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Also re drainage, should I be asking for actual drain covers and drains to be put in and fed to main drain or is it sufficient just to get manual drains put in whereby they dig deep and fill with gravel or some sort to absorb the water? Keeping it motor related, it is obviously for my cars and each week I would be washing them on the whichever surface I finally choose. -
How did you spend your Easter? 30 Mar 2005 (Forum)
'cos I spent mine buying a car... 'R'plate Passat went to dealer for suspension arm recall last week. Yes, two bottom arms covered by recall needed replacing, and were, for free. Other 4 that needed replacing cost £500. (ouch). On reviewing mpg over last 6 months, discovered an average of 27. -
Bullying Fiat into a fix 24 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Fiat Seicento - 2 years old - paint bubbling around trim on sunroof. Fiat dealer says 'not our problem' - the paintwork warranty only covers 'body-panels' - and anyway even if it were to be done (which it won't) the Fiat Warranty fella has to come along and ok it (which he won't). So I insist that this man from Fiat sees the car and book an appointment for when he next visits. -
Bang! 24 Mar 2003 (Forum)
And I guess the bonnet latch needs replacing as well.... At 8 years and 95,000 miles, it could well be 'game over' for this little car. It is still insured in the name of my mother, who died two weeks ago - my sister rang the insurance company, explained the circumstances and got them to issue a cover note valid until the 23rd, with myself as named driver. -
Dealer Service - Toyota Yaris 15 Mar 2003 (Forum)
The service writer asked if she had the socket for the locking wheel nut - \'Yes it is in the glovebox with the service record book\' she replied. My wife had emptied the car of everything else at the weekend, there were no personal belongings in the car at all - just the service book, locking wheel nut socket and the standard toolset and jack in the back. On picking up the car this evening - the garage said the locking wheel nut socket was not in the glove compartment!!!
