  Vehicle NOx checker launched by Mayor of London 30 Mar 2017 (News)
  The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has launched a vehicle scoring system, which will allow drivers to see how much NOx gasses their diesel car emits under real world driving conditions. The online vehicle checker will go live in the Autumn and will rate cars from A to H, with the latter being the most polluting, based ‘on the road’ emission testing.

  This may not seem like the most enticing ad for a second-hand car, but who wouldn’t want a to get behind the wheel of a car piloted by Wolverine himself? The car, which was returned to Vauxhall after filming ended, is being offered for sale at an auction to raise money for automotive charity BEN.

  Obituary: Brian Lister (1926-2014) 18 Dec 2014 (News)
  A keen jazz and motorsport enthusiast, he helped found the Cambridge 50 Car Club with W A ‘Archie’ Scott Brown. Brian bought a Tojeiro race car to enter in sprint events but found he preferred design to driving. After convincing his father to fund the development of a Lister race car, Brian teamed up with Scott Brown and mechanic friend Don Moore.

  Bangers4BEN Charity Auction on 29th October 27 Oct 2014 (News)
  BEN is the charity that exists to help former employees of the motor trade and industry who have fallen on hard times either through injury, illness or old age. British Car Actions and Car Dealer Magazine are combining to offer a special entry of 31 cars that recently competed in the annual Bangers4BEN fundraising event. The challenge was to complete a sponsored run to the FIAT factory in Turin and back in a car costing no more than £750, with all proceeds going to BEN – the Motor Industry’s Benevolent Fund.

  Recovery work progresses following Corvette Museum sinkhole 6 Mar 2014 (News)
  Other cars haven’t fared quite so well, however – with some almost completely buried in rubble and soil. The cars swallowed up were obviously all Corvettes, dating back as far as 1962. Among those buried and awaiting recovery are a 1991 ZR-1 Spyder, a 1993 40 th anniversary edition model, the millionth Corvette ever built and the 1,500,000 th ever built.

  Preview: Chelsea Grand Rendezvous, 8 September 30 Aug 2013 (News)
    Entries so far range from a 1983 Austin Metro 1.3 HLE to a 1954 Austin Healey 100M, De Tomaso Mangusta and Bugatti Veyron. Open to public participation, anybody with a cherished classic car or cult car is invited to attend, and access to the beautiful grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea is both pedestrian and by car. A Grand Cavalcade of participant cars, departing from the Royal Hospital Chelsea and unfolding along Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park Corner and Sloane Square, will take place from 10.30am on the day.  Unlike many automotive events, the only criterion for attendance is one's unbridled passion for automotive history and engineering.

  A 1999 Jaguar XJR once run by Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear fame is to go under the hammer at Anglia Car Auctions, King's Lynn as part of its classic sale on Saturday 24th August.  Anglia Car Auctions has a history with Top Gear because 4 years ago Carkson, Hammond and May used the auction house to source three classics for a rally challenge featured on the programme.

  Younger drivers, aged between 18 and 34, are happier with the idea of using a driverless car or a car fitted with safety equipment than those over 55 years old. That, coupled with the fact that the technology is far from ready for production cars - means by the time it hits showrooms it might be more well received.  Peter Fouquet, president of Bosch UK said: “Our research clearly shows consumers have confidence in driver assistance technologies such as Driver Drowsiness Detection.  With each innovation, we move a step closer to the goal of accident-free and fully automated driving.”

  Toyota has launched a new Approved Used Car Warranty designed for older and higher-mileage cars. The new scheme lets buyers purchase an extended warranty covering up to five years and is a Toyota backed warranty, not a third-party insurance product.
