2010 Astra Replacement 20 Aug 2023 (Forum)
Hi all I am looking for recommendations for a suitable replacement for my 2010 Astra. I know that the Dacia Sandero can be had for under 14k new, or just under 10k for a 1 or 2 year old model. I know 3 year old Astras are 13k ish. The only medium size cars i have seen cheaper are either a Suzuki Baleno or Fiat Tipo. If only prices would come down, maybe they will in the coming months -
Evolution not revolution 25 Feb 2023 (Forum)
Looking around at how car designs have changed I can see the advantage of owning a Golf or Audi saloon way past their sell by date. The designs haven’t changed much over the years . Take a Mk 5 Golf coming up to 19 years old and it still looks fresh. -
Ford grand cmax. - honda crv - What's best 31 Jul 2020 (Forum)
But on this post I wondered what people thought about spending £10k on a ford grand c max 1.5 diesel that's about 3.5 years old or a honda CRV that's nearly six years old . Not so much about the cars as such more about reliability and general running costs over the next few years -

Hi, my friend is planning on buying a 5 year old van at a car auction this week. the vehicle is 'VAT qualifying net' thus he will have to pay VAT on the hammer price as he is not a trader. how does it work? do they simply add the VAT to the hammer price and buyers fee total? -

VW Polo 1.4 (02 reg) - oil filter 5 Nov 2010 (Forum)
The hex nut attached to the filter had come adrift leaving him no means of unscrewing it. I'm too old now to do this myself but in the past, on earlier cars I used a strap-wrench to unscrew the old filter. Is this not feasible with the polo? If not, are there any other suggestions? Please. -

Watford Junction Station Parking on Sat 2 Feb 2007 (Forum)
I am taking the train on Sat 10th Feb to sunny Preston £35 return first class with Virgin beats the cost of diesel. However I need to park near Watford station, can anyone give me any tips for this? The car park at the station is a tenner for the weekend but I dont mind leaving the crappy old mondeo on a street, you never know it might get nicked with any luck. -

The 'Bangernomics' bashing thread 22 Jul 2004 (Forum)
No, not an invitation to banger racing. Merely an opportunity, in the best tradition, for those who drive brand new cars to knock those who don't. That 5 year old fully loaded Mondeo, under 3k. That 10 year old A6 Avant for under 1k. That series II that is more rust than bucket, £500. All a waste of time & money that would be better put towards a brand new 3 series & keeping a dealer in the style to which he has become accustomed. -
