  • More ammo for HJ 21 Oct 2001 (Forum)
Knowing HJs opinion of Renault, I think he might enjoy this little tale. Just returned from holiday in France (you know, those people who love the British so much). Rented a Laguna - having asked for a Vectra. Nice car but whilst there I managed to achieve a blow out on a front tyre (don't ask).
  • Your Car is watching you - and what you do in the car too 10 Sep 2023 (Forum)
https://www.theguardian.com/business/2023/sep/06/cars-collect-extensive-personal-data-on-drivers-study-warns There are almost zero controls on what information is collected. Tesla worst, but Renault?dacia will let you delete.
  • Save money - False economy - Don't do a cam belt change, 27 May 2021 (Forum)
Friend with a tatty Renault van had it serviced, put new battery in and Garage suggested changing cam belt. Declined as didn't want to spend money. 5 miles later...Bang. Now has a newer one. He was upsetbecause of the cost of the new battery...
  • French car reliability 19 Sep 2014 (Forum)
They did admit that Nissan, Honda and Mini were not classed as British. Anyhow, what price Peugeot and Renault, given the stick wielded by some regulars on this forum?  :-)
  • Bye bye scenic 25 Nov 2009 (Forum)
A great car to drive, plenty of room for family, spoilt by terrible quality and dealer service. Renault, never again. Regards aahbarnes
  • Heat (solar) reflecting windscreens 5 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Do heat reflecting windscreens work ? They seem to be common on Renaults. Does anyone have any experience of a car with and without ? Can a heat reflecting film be applied to existing glass in the same was as tints ? I'm also curious as to why this treatment seems to be applied to windscreens only.
  • Which saloon? 21 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I am looking at three saloon cars, 2007 reg . either 1.4, 1.5, 1.6 petrol. Mazda 3 Renault Megane sports saloon or Toyota Corolla (1.4 only as HJ has noted 1.6 can use one litre of oil per 600 miles). Would appreciate any advice regarding which one to go for. Many thanks. Brian

  • VW Touran Tiptronic any good? 26 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Has anybody driven the 1.6 Fsi tiptronic auto Touran? what are they like? I've driven the Renault Scenic auto & hated it. I've driven the DSG Touran in the 2.0 diesel & loved it, but can't afford it. So now, I'm toying with a 1.9 dci Scenic manual or a 1.6 Fsi tiptronic Touran petrol. Any thoughts?
  • Nissan Note vs Honda Jazz 13 Aug 2006 (Forum)
I am replacing my RAV (03) with something smaller but practical. Was leaning strongly towards the Nissan Note but then i read that Nissan and Renault are now wedded. Previous micras I've had have been excellent. Should I worry now about reliability of this brand? Anyway, which would be the better car??
  • Megane safety recall 15 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Had a recorded delivery letter the other day urgently requesting me to take my 52 reg Megane to a Renault dealer ASAP due to "a possible issue with the brake pedal operation... which may affect your safety". I've had recall notices before but not one sounding quite this dramatic. Anybody got any insider knowledge about it?
  • What's at the head of the queue? 29 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Ambling along a normally fast A-Road the other day behind an old Pajero, I got to wondering which cars other backroomers associate with extra slow driving? Back in the 80's I remember Triumph Toledos heading the queue. More recently E-H reg Renault Espace's have, erm, slowed the pace of life somewhat.
  • Warning of what is coming? 30 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Our local Renault+Fiat dealership, Olympian, has gone into receivership this week. Branches in New Milton, Wallisdown, Blandford and two in Salisbury - 180 jobs at risk and lots of punters who have lost money on deposits paid.
  • Handbrakes.. on the wane? 9 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Drive a new Passat or a Renault with an electronic parking brake, realise how good they are and easy to operate then go back to a car fitted with one of them old fangled levers you pull up from the floor. Suddenly you feel like your pulling a lever on a steam train.
  • Clio steering rack needs replacing. 6 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Over the last couple of weeks the steering on my renault clio has become very lose, and I have understeer. It was mentioned at my last MOT that the steering rack will need replacing soon, so I'm assuming that's the cause. Can anyone tell me how much this will cost to replace at a local garage?
  • white vans, racks and ladders 17 Apr 2004 (Forum)
To all those white van drivers who think that painting the end of your ladders blue makes you look like a Police patrol car. No amount of paint will make your battered Astramax or Renault Trafic look like a "Battenburg" T5, even if you do insist on wearing your reflective workwear, so stop it.
  • Megane 2001 Passenger Airbag Switch 13 Apr 2004 (Forum)
Does anyone know if the 2002 megane fidji (not the new shape), or any megane of that year has a passenger airbag deactivation switch? My friends have a baby and need to switch the airbag off. Renault dealer claims there is no airbag there which is wrong as even the bottom of the range has passenger airbags. PLEASE HELP . Thanks
  • Meganism at Tesco 3 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Whilst I waited in line to pay for my lunch at the local Tesco filling Station, noticed their printed price list which listed the full range of options at the auto car wash. In large, bold, letters at the bottom of the list was the following "Please Do Not Wash Your Renault Megan Here" Maybe I should have asked the attendant...any ideas anyone ?
  • VW Polo 16 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Announced in the German Press VW are to build Polos in China and reimport them for the European market, they will probably come with a rice an noodle holder.Yaris built in Poland along with Deawoo and the new Pug plant is there going to anything left in the EU.Both Nissan and Renault are planning new plants in the East ,I think people should support Rover a bit more or the UK will have no industry left.
