Finally said goodbye to our 2005 Scenic 1.9 DCi Privilege last week, sold to an online buyer. No more problems with turbo, EGR valve, heater resistor, dash electrics, weak trim etc etc.
A great car to drive, plenty of room for family, spoilt by terrible quality and dealer service.
Renault, never again.

Your experiences mirror ours. We had some different problems (clutch hydraulics, power steering) and some of the same (heater resistor, electrics, trim).
Still remember the car itself fondly, but you don't expect a four year old car with 60,000 miles to need £2,000+ spending on it in a year to keep it running as it should be. I spent less than half that on an 8 year old, 140,000 mile Mondeo in 4 years of ownership.
The car itself was so good it made the reliability even more of a shame. It was likeable in so many ways.

What a shame. Any make/model will have a few failures. My 06 Espace and 57 Megan have proved very reliable covering 44k and 50k miles respectively with just routine servicing tyres and one light bulb. I have a friend who has an 03 Esapce, also with no faults. Just goes to show they are not all lemons!

Maybe so, but some marques (like the Scenic) will require more lemon-aid than others.
