  Id prefer a saloon but an estate will do. I also dont want a shed, so its likely that whatever I buy is going to be 80's or even late 70's possibly rather than a worn out 90's model plus I prefer the simplicity of earlier cars. I have a few ideas in mind but wondering what the BR would suggest? My starting point is the Merc 250 D, late 80's.

  Told I\'d hear this morning. 1pm today rang them again. They can\'t receive France\'s email which has been routed to Citroen\'s Head Office in Slough, because Crawley\'s email is down so they\'re waiting for I.T. to sort it. HAVE THEY NOT HEARD OF PICKING UP THE TELEPHONE AND TALKING TO EACH OTHER????

  m currently looking for 1.0 Micra, 1.0 Corsa B, Punto 55/60, Fiesta 1.25, Ka 2 1.3. Any other suggestions? Not many Micra?s for sale around here, the Corsa?s I?ve looked at have all been rough, and the Fiesta?s all seem to have the rattly 1.3 engine, Ka?s (same engine I know) all too expensive.   I do about 58 miles a day, back-and-to to work, virtually all on dual carriageway (50-70mph). It\'s developed a habit of cutting out unexpectedly. While this rarely happens (only three or four times in the last 3K miles), it\'s irritating. It has only ever happened when I\'m in a queue, and when the engine\'s about three quarters warmed up.

  What would you guys say is the best way to get a "sticker" off the back bumper of a Cooper S  ??  I definately would call it a sticker rather than a decal. Its a rectangular union flag not that it matters as such. Its literally only about 3 inches by 2 so not big.....I kinda thought it would come off quite easily but by first attempt at the corner it appears it may not be so simple Obviously dont want to actually damage the bumper "paint" as such  ??

  Hi all i have just got a volvo s60 d5 s on a 04 plate only 66000 on the clock When i pull away in reverse or forward i can hear a click from the near side  front wheel and then it stops untill i pull away again any one know what this could be ??

  Hi I am having trouble removing the N/S/F door lock from my 306. My problem is how to disconnect it from the rod on the outer door handle. I have disconnected the rod to the inner handle and disconnected the C/L cable but the remaining rod to the outer handle is doing my head in !!!!

  I have a 2009 S-Max 2.0 TDCi that I purchased 3 weeks ago through Ford Direct. After a week of ownership, the noisy became much noiser sounding like something was blowing in the engine. The car went into my local Ford dealer this week where they found that an intercooler pipe had become disconnected.

  Just found some fantastic footage of London Motor Shows from the 1960's. Oh, those clipped tones, the great smell of Brut, the hot pants..........oh and there are old cars too! Utterly brilliant ....memories. I have driven one or two of the cars on show and remember my Dad having some too.

  Can anybody give me an idea on how to remove the blue cap through which the wiring loom runs through on the rear o/s passenger door of a Zafira? I have an issue with the locking and I believe it could be something to do with the wiring running through the door, but I am unable to remove this cap. Thanks Andy.

  Hi guys, Does anyone know of an insurer which offers short term insurance for Under 25's on cars above group 18? I need to insure a Group 19 car for a period of 1 day. I usually use Norwich Union or Dayinsure for this purpose but they will only cover me for up to Group 17 as I'm under 25.

  Hi, HELP AND ADVISE PLEASE. my van has failed its mot on uneven rear brake application.(o/s/r low) i have free up the load sensor linkage and renewed the wheel cylinder to the o/s/r. i have been back for a retest and the reading is still the same, low on the o/s/r, i was told the difference allowed is 24% mine is reading 60%.

  After the triumph of the jeweller´s rouge on the front window scuffs of the Barchetta, now attention turns to the PVC rear window which has become cloudy with age. It´s not that bad, but if anyone on the Backroom has a magic fix to try before I replace the whole shebang (could be a bit pricy) I would love to hear it!

  Just passing time looking at the e-bay motors section recently and I am amazed at the prices being asked (and sometimes achieved) for the old style Mini. Not the 60's/70's Cooper/1275 models I hasten to add, but the 1.0 litre BL built cars from the 80's, most of which have long since died from terminal rust. One punter was after £1500 for his rusty 1985 mayfair model!
