   It’s been sitting  since the beginning of the first lockdown and has somehow developed an gearbox ECU issue in that time. The car powers up but we can’t get it to start because it thinks it’s in gear because of the ECU fault. Have tried 2 different batteries and same problem. How could I fix it and how much would it cost roughly?

  Hi I brought a tata indica from eBay as a project It's a protaype for the rover city 1.4. It's like a new car never been registered I think the ecu is faulty but I have no way of testing it I have contacted several repaired who say that can fix most ecu but they can't help I have tried emailing tata in India but email bounces back The number on it is Mct-14-002 a1 1208 12791 1520 9916 475mpi euro2 75ps It's an hitachi If any one knows who could repair it or where I can get another one It has no test socket Thanks for any help John

  I have an S reg peugout 306 which won't start..... the diagnostics thing doesn't work so the garage can't tell what's wrong with it from that.... It had a reconditioned ECU (ECI?) unit fitted about a year ago when the car broke down with the previous owner (a friend!) The garage it's in reckon the only thing I can do is try another ECU unit.. but there's no guarantee this will work, or how long for....

  my accent is destined for the scrap yard after a mere 4 years of life - its lasted longer than my previous sonata which died as a mere 51 plate. unless... someone knows how to repair or get a chea[p replacement for an ECU unit. had an auto electrician look at it just to confirm, he plugged in the laptop - and just as i presumed - ecu has broke! car wont turn over. anyone got any cheap way of fixing this? no wonder hyundai give the cars 5 year warrantys - they fall to bits round about then.

  It just revs itself when I don\'t have my foot on the accelerator - it\'s like I\'m reving up at lights to race off! I took it in for an engine analysis and I\'ve been told it\'s probably a faulty ECU as it reported 12 faults which didn\'t actually exist. Does anyone have any advice on this - could it be bad connections in the ECU or should I just get it replaced? If I get it replaced - am I likely to get one from a scrap yard?

  It had been running fine, but one evening having started ok the engine died and wouldn't restart. A mobile mechanic was called and reckoned the sparks were weak, and took the ECU off for testing (to CAFCO). After a delay, the reply came back that there was no output to the coil or the fuel pump. So a p/x ECU was fitted, and a second, and a third! Sometimes the engine would run for 40 mins or so, and once my friend actually had the car back 'repaired', it ran for a few miles, but the engine died when the car was halted at a roundabout.

  Have tried just about everything without success. Avon remapping say they have a solution to this by a stage 1 remap of the ECU. They say this is a common fault with Mk 1v golf diesels. Has anyone any experience of this and is it safe?

  Hi, this may have been asked before but, I ave a Tdi focus, its a `W` reg one, and the fuel pump has failed, i have been told that used pump cannot be re programed,BUT the ECU can be re-coded to recognise he second hand pump,,,,is this true? if so at what cost ? Thanks Toby

  The car was ok when last driven but failed to start next day, turned over though. Diagnosed as ECU failure. I know this is a long shot but this is all I can think of. Carpenter using electric circular sander within 4or 5 yards of the car prior to car use. Is there any possibility that the electric sander somehow could be responsible as the TV picture (10yds away) was was 'snowed out', at this time.

  I have a 2.2 diesel signum, the ECU fault light keeps coming on and putting the car into safe mode, the vacuum pump was changed, and fault was still apparent, i have now changed the airflow meter, and still getting the same fault with lots of black smoke from the exhaust, I have now put some injector cleaner in with the fuel what can I do next.

  Just had a phone call from Pugeout saying my Fault that occured regarding my flashing light is the ECU. Reckon the Month old battery has caused it to spike and knackered the initial process that tells fuel system to engage. Any Ideas? Is this garbage or sound about right. There charging me 3 1/2 hrs labour at 92 to tell me this.

  Hi, I foolishly jump started my car and finished up with the airbag light on and was advised it needed resetting by the vauxhall dealer cost £40 result was they said I needed a new ECU,instead I have purchased a second hand unit and fitted it but the airbag light remains on, the car it came of had no airbag light on so it should be ok,any one know if it has to go on a Tech2 to be set up once its been removed from the car.

  Anyone considered getting their car's ECU re-mapped by places such as 'super chips' to give better performance/fuel economy etc? Are the benefits really as good as the companies would have us believe? For my 2.4 Audi I can expect a boost of 12bhp for approx £300 - quite keen but any feedback from people who have had this done would be much appreciated.

  Hi, I bought a 1999 Peugeot 306 1.4 as a non runner, with a suspected ECU fault.  A new ECU had been put on the car, the crank sensor changed but the car still wouldn't start.  The old ECU has been put back on the car.   It turns over, I believe it to be getting fuel, but it doesn't smell flooded, you can hear the fuel pump when the ignition is switched on.

  can any one help with ecu problem i have??? car 2000 vauxhall vectra 2.0 cdx estate the problem engine management light comes on when the car is ticking over but goes out when moving,when pulling away from standstill the car has a quite significant flat spot also if i turn on the heater when the car is idling the revs drop and the car almost stalls, i've taken the car to my local garage and his computer says the maf has a low reading,i have replaced the maf with a brand new siemens unit but the fault remains and the computer is giving the same low reading the garage owner says it is probably a ecu problem but he can't be sure there is no problem starting the car from cold or warm and the only fault showing up is the problem with the maf has anybody any idea where the problem lies also can anybody tell me where the ecu is located in the car regards melvyn brown
