  I had a flat battery and requested a friend to jump start for my car. His car was a 3L E class mercedes. i mistakenly connected the jump start cables wrongly and only noticed when the cables became hot. I connected them correctly but still engine wouldn't start.

  The previous owner had it from new & all the booklets/paperwork & receipts for maintenence were given to me. As my son gave me a Haynes manual for Christmas, it states within this that removing the battery will lead to losing the radio code. There's nothing within the hand book that states this & l can't find any recorded radio code in the documentation.There is a receipt for a new battery in 2013, so it will be coming to the end of its life.

  Espace 2.2 dci lack of power hi just brought this car and only few miles down road the battery light has came on  and no power   not go uphill  unless you stop  and rev car high then pull off  1/ it done 140k mile it and 51 plate 02 year  been told alternator is faulty  but  is it coomon to lose power like this when battery light / stop light comes on  dont want to spend more on car if it is something else  2 as it also has oil leak  on crack shaft seal   would this have a underline problem to course seal to go ?

  Basically one night driving home from work the toxic fume light started flashing and then once at home my front headlights wouldn't turn off had to leave them on by the morning car wouldn't start obviously drained the battery anyway got new battery etc went garage told needed new coils that's been done and sorted but lights still wouldn't work told fuse has blown one of the relays had to started to Melt and need a new fuse box.

  My HDi van starts great when cold and runs great at 77K miles only. However, when it's warmed up and switched off, restarting fails, symptoms seem like flat battery (new battery fitted and connections checked ok). The starter motor solenoid isn't jamed as the van will start again ok after about 30 minutes after something is cooling down, although engne isn't overheating.

  a few months back the starter was clicking and eventually starting - anyway when I had a look the battery terminal connector had a crack in it. changed it , put another heavy duty marine type on and all was well again. Lately it started doing it again so I take all the connections off the battery, clean them up, tighten up really tight and it's fine again - for about 10 days then it starts doing it again, one click and then starts ok.

  After having some routine work done on my car i can now smell fumes inside coming though the air vents. I had the car serviced, and fitted a new alternator and battery, before this there were no fumes. During the service one of the spark plugs snapped below the nut, the garge could not take the remainder our without removing the head gasket so i drove the car to another garage with only 3 spark plugs to be repaired and have the alternator and battery fitted.

  Hi all,   Having major issues with battery, key fobs etc.  Disconnected battery last night to charge it and now radio asking for code - have tried 4 times unsuccessfully. When I obtain radio serial number (switch radio on holidng 1+6 then releasing 6) it shows: MGP DJ5 then 4-09 then 070200 So, not sure what my serial number is.....so I'm not sure of the code.

  HI,   My radio Sony CDX-FC132 CD, for a MOndeo 2004, titanium, 6 disk CD radio is faulty, It keeps flashing on the screen. The radio was draining the battery. I charged the battery fully and the radio worked for a few days however, after a few days i had to input the code each time i started the car, then it would start flashing and not working after a few mins, I disconnected the Cd rack and it has not been draining the radio since.

  My 1992 ford escort cabriolet which has done 75,000 miles and served me well has just blown a head gasket and I,m told by my mechanic that the cams need replacing also as they are wearing. The cost for this wil be around the £600 for both jobs. I also have a battery problem which is draning due to an electrical fault -although I can cope with this even if I had to replace the battery every year but not sure if the car is worth spending £600 seeing as I recently spent approx £500 having new starter motor and alternator. can I have some advice please
