If it needs a new clutch is this a killer job to do and are clutch kits expensive for this car?
  • Watchdog Peugeot 206 Stalling 23 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Just finished watching Watchdog. It seems there is plenty to complain about the Peugeot 206 both over 3 years old and new. A number of viewers have written in about their car stalling. Peugeot, to give them their due are investigating the problem and some owners report having sucessfully had the faults fixed under warranty.
  • does anyone use veg oil for diesel? 27 Jul 2004 (Forum)
I am going to use veg oil from a local fish and chip shop (filtered) if I get an old diesel car. I was wondering if anyone knows what a non petroleum based white spirit is, what is the brand name and where to buy it? and how much to add? Then the duty to pay will be about 15p a litre, (yes I am going to do it legally).
  • Focus electronic interference 12 May 2004 (Forum)
Sometimes experience 'electronic interference' which is again sometimes announced by the red ignition light coming on, then the central locking clicks as well as a small reduction in engine revs. The battery in the key has been replaced and the car is 3 yrs old with 22,000 miles. It has only been happening for approx 3 months and there is nothing else that appears to be wrong . Has anybody got any ideas what this can be or if it will get worse

  • Is this a good deal? 29 Apr 2004 (Forum)
I have chance to buy my company car, a Mondeo LX estate, TDCi 115bhp, 15 months old, 32k miles, 4 new tyres just fitted, 9 months road tax. I am the only driver since new and has been serviced at the correct intervals. I am not aware of any faults with it.
  • Range Rover Fire 7 Apr 2004 (Forum)
Last week my Fathers Range Rover became a total loss after a fire in the off side engine compartment. It was only two years old. Rover say the warrantee no longer applies because the car is a write-off. I can't believe this. The vehicle has been maintained properly and I would expect Range Rover to replace it. Has anyone else any comments to make.
  • Drone on VW Golf Mk 11 at 30mph 27 Feb 2004 (Forum)
My old Golf has developed a drone that appears to worsen as the car warms up and is more pronounced/noticeable at 20 - 30 mph. It sound like it is coming from the front left but I can't be sure. Sometimes I can hardly hear it; other times it is really pronounced.

  • vauxhall warranty 5 Jun 2003 (Forum)
The Vauxhall 3-year warranty seems to be different from what you might expect. My 18 month old Zafira was diagnosed with no refrigerant in the aircon, no leaks could be found and I ended up with an £80 bill after recharging the system. Some 3-year warranty. BTW GM advertising in the US seems now to be conceding that their earlier cars weren't as reliable as they should have been but that they have improved significantly since.
  • Citroen Xsara 2.0HDi Clutch Bearing 27 May 2003 (Forum)

  • Microcar Virgo 25 Apr 2003 (Forum)
A friend of mine owns one of these little tiny-engined cars.Has anyone heard of any problems with them. His car is two years old with quite low mileage. He has had a few niggly little problems but the biggest was when the handbrake assembly completely detached from the "fibreglass" bodywork. He called the main dealer but was told that the warranty only covers the engine.Due to this he did a repair himself with sealant etc.
  • Saxo cambelt-advice please. 23 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Citroen advise change the cambelt at 72K service and they do not give a time limit. What should I do? As the car is coming up to 5 years old I feel inclined to get the belt changed but is this necessary?
  • Xsara Temperature 18 Feb 2003 (Forum)
Mine runs at 75C; I'd have thought it should be higher, but the garage tell me that this engine 'is designed to run cool'. they also say that the overall fuel consumption of 43mpg is 'about right'. the car is 13 months old, covered 13k miles. Maybe things will change after it's had it's first service next weekend.......?

  • Fitting New Clutch Cable 306 TD? 16 Dec 2002 (Forum)
Have seen mention of this issue before, but not the solution! How do you get sufficient access to the engine side of the bulkhead to release old cable, and engage clip fitting of the new? Removal of intercooler and associated pipe work does not enable enough access. Car is 1997 R reg 1.9DT 5 door. Thanks for any practical solutions others have found

  • Anti-freeze 31 Oct 2002 (Forum)
Just tried to scape the ice off my car windscreen.......hopeless then got my old halfords spray that your just spray on it "melts" the ice away, brilliant but its run out. Me being tight was wondering if just some anti freeze (coolant) with water would have the same affect., and put that in the spray dispenser.
