  • Why won't Mercedes-Benz honour its rust warranty on my 2003 E-Class? 14 Sep 2010 (Ask HJ)
My Mercedes-Benz E-Class is nearly eight years old (79,000 miles on clock) and with the numerous areas of rust appearing (top of all doors, three wheel...
  • Motoring in Tenerife 3 Dec 2006 (Forum)
bus? did over 30 mpg - but at less than £2 a gallon fuel costs aren?t really a concern! No speed cameras and decent road surfaces, worst parts were actually on the motorways where parts of the surface are badly worn - not good at 120kmh. So if you go to Tenerife and need a large car you may actually end up with a van.
  • Mini Sony Nav-U70T satnav review 13 Mar 2006 (Forum)
There seem to be about a billion of those. We haven't yet worked out if anything can be done with speed cameras - not built in as poi. Not sure also about displaying points of interest on the 3d display. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. A setting somewhere I think. Other features like waypoints, unexpected roadblocks and "find my nearest bank" or "find me a restarant in Cambridge" type things too, as you might expect.
  • Honda Civic 1.0 SR - First impressions 9 May 2019 (Forum)
I am not sure if its GPS based or trying to detect signs but either way it was wrong Although it is a bigger car the new one feels no bigger to drive. The reversing camera in todays rain was far better on the new car. Rear visibiliity has never been an issue for me but the new car's spoiler is even thinner and the overall glass area is pretty big. Some of the interior is a step backwards.
  • My daughter hit a car at 5mph and the driver is claiming whiplash - can we do anything about this? 19 Mar 2018 (Ask HJ)
My 22-year-old daughter was second in line at a local roundabout in rush hour traffic. The Mercedes-Benz GLA in front went, but then slammed on his brakes...
  • Kia Ceed 3 - Dual Clutch Transmission review 22 Nov 2017 (Forum)
However, I shall use the ECO mode most of the time :) Being "3" spec, it has got many features like built in sat nav, climate control, rear view camera, TPMS, passenger seat height adjustment etc. Not yet explored all features. If you are interested, please note that since 2015, Kia has stopped offering petrol DCT for Ceed. It is now only available as 7-speed diesel.
  • Mercedes CLS - Reversing car incident (illustration included) 24 Jan 2014 (Forum)
I've been into the store which had CCTV footage which confirmed how slowly I was coming out of the parking space - unfortunately, the angle of the camera didn't include the taxi driver's actions. My insurer, it seems, is reluctantly requesting this footage. My insurance company is all but dismissing the account of the witness as not being helpful (they telephoned him).
  • Nissan X-Trail (2007 - ) - J D power 2009 xtrail 14 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Then is goes on "visibility wasn't up to scratch" now things are getting silly, the last xtrail was absolutely brilliant for reverse parking. The new one has restricted rear view,(which i know about before i bought it), but a reverse camera on my model makes up for it. So i can only assume that the survey covered both models, so doesn't that make the results a nonsense? Then it ends " to round off a fairly poor performance, customers weren't impressed with the driving dynamics, fuel economy or high servicing and repair costs either" Don't these people test drive a car before they buy?
  • IOM TT & Speed limits 26 Aug 2007 (Forum)
The roads are very much better and not wanting to take anything from Mr Jeffries new lap record, they must make it easier to go round the circuit. There are no speed cameras (fixed) but plenty of mobile ones, but they where being used in the correct places, coming into a 30 limit after a 60 limit. In a 50 limit by a bad junction. I didn?t see one in 5 days in a place that I would have thought they are trying to catch you out.
  • Lights Out 13 Dec 2005 (Forum)
For every light that's out there's also a bald tyre, a tailgater, an uninsured vehicle and a kid not wearing a seatbelt. And we don't have bald-tyre cameras yet. ---- Life is complex; it has real and imaginary parts.
  • Hit and drive off accident A406/A105 - Help 23 Nov 2014 (Forum)
Is there a way to get CCT film of the accident from the police? That would show clearly the accident. Of course, the camera would have to face the right way. How can I prove anything? Careless driving and hit and run? There are tyres marks on my car, right side. There is my indicator light broken into multiple pieces where the accident happened.

  • In Praise of LGV drivers 9 Oct 2006 (Forum)
The driver in the Pug 206 who joined the M602 from the M60 and tried to drive under my trailer. The driver in front ,who on seeing a mobile camera in a 40mph zone decides to slow to 20mph, why? The Vectra driver who cut across his lane forcing me to almost mount a kerb to give him room in his tiny car! The Polo driver at the apex of the M602/M60 junction, sat with the hazards on in a dangerouse position waiting for a convenient gap so they could cut across to the junction they had so clearly missed.
  • Parking Firm Doctor Photo Evidence 2 Mar 2004 (Forum)
The judgment, made at an appeal hearing in Bury, Greater Manchester, could have wider implications for motorists caught on camera and open the way to many more appeals. Mr McGuire, from Heywood, in Bury, was determined to fight the ticket for parking on a Sunday in what he believed was a public place. He had parked in Bury market place at 7.15am on Sunday, August 31.
  • The Far Side 16 Feb 2003 (Forum)
OK, the Big G he says to me get this show on the road again, you do it. Hope I can get this right. I know you people got speed cameras and license points and speed humps and those motorways where you have some hotshot BMW looking up your tailpipe at high speed. You even have cops who drive badly I read. Well we have cops who don't even drive, they park in front of the 24 hour 7-11 Store all night smoking or sleeping, or sometimes they're in the Blue Parrot or somesuch videoke bar down the road, they say they're checking the girls' health cards, oh yeah they're checking all right but it isn't any health cards they're looking at.
  • Peugeot 207 (2006 - ) - A week driving in Portugal 11 Oct 2007 (Forum)
The directions to our apartment were wrong as a new roundabout and dual carriageway had been completed since May, which was the last time the owners had visited and checked the route. No speed cameras per se, but in some villages in rural locations they have random sets of traffic lights. Exceed 50km/h and they turn red for about 15 seconds! Not only do you get annoyed but you also p off anyone following you, keep in limit and they stay green.
  • Lexus RX400h - RX400h owner's review for gordonbennet 20 Jun 2019 (Forum)
I find I have to drive around car parks with the windows down and the (decent) stereo on, pedestrians just don’t hear you coming when running on battery power and step into your path lemming-style. Reversing lights are awful, I’ve replaced them with LEDs which means the parking camera is now useful at night – but the electrical noise from the dodgy Chinese LED's means I have to turn the wireless off when reversing to avoid a blast of white noise! Good/Bad? Don’t forget it has a CVT – some drivers loath them, I think the combination of the grumbly V6 and whirr of the electric motors makes it sound a bit like airwolf from the 80s!
  • Hyundai i30 (2007 - ) - Review 20 Apr 2008 (Forum)
It is unobtrusive but the plastics are good and the fittings excellent, with some nice touches like the double-lidded armrest between the front seats with a small picnic table under the top lid and, below that, a capacious locker for camera, mobile phones etc. with a connection for i-Pods (USB cable supplied). The ashtray is illuminated (there?s posh!). Another nice touch is a parking or credit card holder just inside the lockable glove box.
  • Formula One in London 15 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Something interesting must have driven past because all of a sudden there was a sea of kiddies on parents shoulders and arms extended with cameras of various sorts. I could see absolutely nothing! At this point I decided to abandon this fiasco and attempted to get out of the area. Easier said than done. After finding dead ends and police officers blocking alley ways I ended up in Hanover Square.
  • Backroom Meet - Sunday 7th September 8 Sep 2003 (Forum)
A mile or so of greenery including a golf course to the right. You then hit a 30mph zone which has a speed camera very soon into it (you have been warned). You\'ll hit some traffic lights (with a right turn - A1081) but you want to go straight on continuing on the A1000. Shortly afterwards you\'ll see a Dominoes Pizza on your left and Barnet College and then The Bathroom Trading Co to your right.
