brake light warning light 21 Oct 2003 (Forum)
The brake lamp warning light on my MB CLK230 is intermittent. I swopped all rear bulbs and it stopped for a time - now it has come on again despite all the bulbs working okay. I cleaned all contacts and checked the connections in the rear light clusters etc. -
Clonking noise on Corolla vvti brakes... 29 Aug 2003 (Forum)
My 2000 (old shape) Corolla recently had a seized front brake disc - corrosion had 'welded' the pad to the disc, according to the RAC man who fixed it - which he did by sanding the disc down. Only problem now is that I think the corrosion spot is still there - the car sounds like something is clonking at the front - but isn't apparent if you rev the engine with the clutch out. -
changing picasso brake pads 11 Jan 2003 (Forum)
Litter brother is coming down next week for assistance in changing his picasso brake pads. As there isn't a Haynes manual available yet, are there any "gotchas" on this??. I only ask as he was wittering on about making sure I had some torx drivers available. I've not had a look yet to see what he's on about. -

CLS 220d AMG Line Premium 5d 7G-Tronic - automatic driving technique advise 4 Dec 2018 (Forum)
Can you give me some driving technique advice please. When pulling up to a junction or lights I slow and apply foot brake, at this point if i depress the brake hard I go into "hold" however sometimes this does not happen instead the engine turns off with the stop/start feature, my foot is still on the brake. If I take my foot off the brake and reapply the brake hard the "hold" will go on but in the meantime the engine has fired up and attempted to pull off. -

Any - Electronic parking brake - Why? 5 Dec 2010 (Forum)
That makes it not far off £1,000 to repair a parking brake (handbrake) and it is mandatory as it is an MOT fail item. This will probably lead to perfectly serviceable cars of about 7+ years old being written off due to parking brake failure in the future because of the cost to repair. -
Citroen Xsara (1997 - 2004) - Faulty brakes - possible skid risk? 10 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Specifically, the risk was that of locking the rear wheels and losing control of the car. I used to have a Citroen Xsara (no ABS), which once, under heavy braking, violently went into a skid/slide. I released the brakes and corrected the skid, and stopped safely, but was a bit shaken up. I put it down to oil or diesel on the road and thought nothing of it. -

Fun with Scenic electric parking brake 19 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Just back from a long weekend in the South West, a good outing for the new Grand Scenic which averaged 36.5 mpg over the 700 odd miles, including a lot of steep and narrow Devon lanes. Had an incident with the electric parking brake. The electric parking brake disengages as soon as you apply revs and lift the clutch as opposed to a standard hand brake where you release at the time of your choosing ie once you have achieved the "balance" on the clutch. -

Renault Clio 2017 - Lipping on Brake discs 11 Mar 2021 (Forum)
Only thing that has changed is my wife passing her test 3 years ago and she now mainly drives the car, so is it her driving , she assures me that she does not drive with her foot resting on the brake pedal and that she is not always braking. (Lookers) Renault are wanting £320 to replace disc's and Pads, Not sure if this is the going rate, but it does need done after checking myself I am very good at DIY and used to do things myself, But knowing manufacturers, They will make it difficult for someone like me to change the discs and pads.
