  Hi,   Really hope somebody can help. I bought a 2004 Audi A4 1.8t with 75k on the clock from a well known dealer. I paid £8500 which included 6 months tax. However after a couple of days I noticed a whining noise and have since found out its a gearbox bearing problem.

  Still a couple of months warranty. 2.0 tdi manual box 12700 miles, no naughty habits of slipping or riding the clutch. Nasty growls and grumbles in the last 2 weeks becoming worse. Used Audi Rescue for an opinion and the diagnosis - "you need a replacement dual mass flywheel!" The car is duly booked in at the nearest Audi agent (25 miles away) for this Thursday on the tech's say-so. I remember it being recalled when almost new for a flywheel check (probably a duff batch) but was given all-clear.

  Apparently the emmission control system warning light came on which I can only presume is a problem with the cat or particulate filter (if it has one!!). The car is a Mutitronic so I reckon I'm going to have to get it recovered from home to our local Audi dealer. Sounds expensive already! I appreciate the first place to look will be via Mr Audi 's diagnostic equioment, but does anybody have any thoughts on the problem etc......... Regards... Age engine size/type inserted.

  I need to sort my airbag problem on my W reg Audi Avant 2.4 (airbag light is permanently on and fault is diagnosed as being in the control box. This fault means no airbag function). I would prefer to avoid buying a replacement unit from Audi - quoted at £280 plus fitting so could be a £500 bill - and wonder if anyone knows of a trustworthy UK repair outfit?

  Dad is now looking to replace his 51 plate Audi A4 1.9TDi and doesnt know what to go for. Choices hes narrowed down to are: BMW 320D Audi A4/A6 2.0TDi Alfa 157 JTD - may have to keep Audi a bit longer for this! He will be doing 40K a year and running costs are not that important as company pays, however he only gets 9 pence a mile for his diesel so needs to at least break even with this.

  Can anyone help? My Audi A6 2.8 auto 1999 keeps leaving permanent spots on my driveway. They are located dead centre of the front seats. I thought it was an oil leak but after Audi checked it, they said that there is no leak and the undertray was completely dry.

  I had an annoying idle surge on my '93 A80 which, after much faffing about, turned out to be the idle control motor. Anyway, Audi wanted £200 for it and the Audi breakers/GSF didn't have any 6-pin models. I tried a Citreon breaker and they had loads of 'em, so there's the tip; Mr Bosch used the same parts all over the place, if yours appears rare, try another manufacturer.

  Honest, Looks like we may have to depart with my beaut Audi A6 1:8T SE 1998(R). It has been the best car I've ever had (don't pity me!!) It has done 106K and has a fully stamped up Audi Service history. It is silver and is faultless. I still think it is one of the best looking cars on the roads today.

  Typical Audi quality within, ride and handling excellent. However front pillars are appallingly wide with one tiny window between the pillar and door frame. Pulling out of a lot of junctions was extremely tricky and usually involved edging into road to provide a clearer view.
