• iveco daily - Rough running engine 22 Mar 2013 (Forum)
  just bought an iveco daily 35s14, just serviced it, but engine runs a bit rough. Most evident when idling, vibration in steering wheel/dash, quite annoying. No other probs,no engine lights on, no loss of power (though I'm new to van but it seems very powerful).  Also steering wheel vibrates over around 60 - 70 mph ( this could be separate issue).

  The diagnostics log records the fault as: 16687 P0116 035 Cyl 3 Misfire Recognised - Sporadic fault The attached data shows cly 1 running at 12.4 Bar, 2 running at 9.3 Bar and 3 running at 4.1 Bar. Thanks in advance for your help!

  Hi all My cooling fan been running now and then during the colder weather recently, usually when the air-con is on.Is this to keep the air-con 'bits' cool with it running so much ? The temp gauge sits plum in  the middle as it's always done.

  Can anyone tell me if it is possible to have a problem with the egr valve and for the engine management light not to illuminate.The Kalos i own is running very poorly and jumps and stutters at low speed and revs.It has been back to the dealer for various reasons and nobody at the garage seems to be able to fix the thing.The dealer has changed the eccelerator body just a week ago but it hasnt made any difference.A good mechanic friend of mine seems to think it is the egr but the garage say the management light should come on .

  I guess that I can now rule this out and move onto the injectors but I'm not sure how to manually check these. Is it is a case of unplug them one by one while the engine is running and listen for a change in the engine note, or no change in the engine note if that makes sense! Any ideas appricated.

  help,ive got a 54 plate 1.2 vw polo,its in good nick,and had a full service 5 months ago.10 days ago it failed to start first time,this has now happened 5 or 6 times.it starts after 4 or 5 attempts and was running fine.then 3 days ago the engine started loosing power for a few seconds at a time.it only does this for a few minutes after start up.once its been runnuing for 5 minutes it seems fine. the battery is ok,any other ideas pls.cheers

  hi, I am experiencing very rough runs at lower speeds.  Hesitates to accelerate / change gear . Consumes a lot more fuel than earlier. There is a terrible smell from the exhaust gases which is now very bad. At higher speeds say 50km/hr up and higher revs 2000+rpms up then the engines feels better.

  I would like to mount Daytime Running Lights onto my civic reason for this i do alot of motorway driving at work (in a company vehicle) and cars fitted with DRL's i see mainly Audi's and Mercede's they stand out not in a chavy way you know they are there if that makes sense which on a motorway is all good in my book.

  My 1.1 cfi (60K) starts ok runs ok but after approx 12 miles of running it just loses power completely and stops. After 2 minutes it starts again ok but the same thing will happen after another 12 miles or so. It appears to be more prone on a continious run rather than stop start motoring.

  Allowing for camera angles, etc, I would think that 12 inches was a good bet. The next clip saw a man run across in front of quite a fast train which actually took one of his shoes off....crazy !   Just want to know if this system is fit for high miliage if well maintained. I know it has to run on special oil but can it run on a normal grade in an emergency or must I always mke sure I have 505.01 in the car? Why does the oil have to be 505.01 and not any 5w 40 synthetic motor oil? I can get the oil at the dealer or Halfords but it is expensive.

  My Mazda 323TD (90k miles) has started running rough recently hestitating and surging at low speeds. Today I felt a distinct lack of power pulling away from stop. Runs okay at higher speeds. When revving at c2k when staionary there is first blue smoke then black from the exhaust and the engine stutters then runs okay above 3k revs.

  I am taking delivery of a new Nissan Note Auto petrol vehicle on Tuesday and I would appreciate any advice on Do's and Dont's of driving such a vehicle and also how do you control the revs for running in purposes. I have decided to trade in my 05 X-Trail diesel due to the heavy clutch action and the strain it would put on my left leg. Have any members of this board got any experience of this vehicle?

  Driver complained that the cab heater wasn't getting warm. Temp gauge was reading low even after a long run. Both thermostats were changed and radiator was checked against specs for that model. There was no improvement so the driver put cardboard agains bottom of radiator and went away happy. 2 weeks later the engine overheated causing severe damage.

  They got caught at 190 and 250 Km/h in a Ferrari Modena and Porsche 911 during an organised "Cannonball Run" from the UK to Italy. The LCI chain claims that the Kent Police tipped-off the Gendarmes who set-up the speed traps with helicopter back-up. They've been sent before a French judge in Bethune fined, cars confiscated (Yes £200.000 worth) and received 3 month suspended prison sentence.

  car is a 1989 16v golf k jet wierd one this...i had a leaky brake pipe fitting, so i was sat in the car with it idleing and repeatedly pressing the brake pedal to see if i could make it leak again anyway as i pressed the pedal on/off a few times the engine began to splutter and carried on doing so until i stopped pressing the pedal...i let the engine clear and then braked again same thing happened cant really figure out whats happening there...some kind of vacumn problem? otherwise the car runs and brakes fine

  My Wife inherited a "W" reg 2.0lt Focus Ghia two months or so and it came with fsh (not all Ford) and 48k miles. We are very pleased with the car but even after a short run it "Smells" hot. Lift the bonnet and the heat hits you and when you switch off the engine, it creaks with the sound of metal contracting. It does not use any water or oil and the temperature gauge remains steady, just under the half way point.

  Died with an electrical fault last week and has been in the garage - they replaced the cranshaft sensor and then got it running, although then the oil warning light popped up. They switched it off then to check the level and then it wouldn't start again. That lot cost me £200 quid and I still have a non running car. Would really like to get it running again if possible but am not great with electrics.

  I've been having trouble with my Astra 1.4 K reg (petrol) car when I first start the engine. It loses power and judders, then suddenly returns to normal power. When the car has been running for about 5 minutes everything is fine and the car runs normally. Any ideas what may be causing this? incidentally the choke has always been faulty since I purchased the car requiring me to keep on revving the engine until the engine runs normally without cutting out.

  However purely from a mechanical point of view, is a diesel engine or a petrol engine more likely to sustain more damage if used for short runs? on a second note and a question to Xantia owners. when the suspension is raised to its maximum height, is there enough clearance under the car for someone to tuck in, without needing to jack up the car any more.
