Volkswagen Polo IV - VW Polo Misfire - funkymonkey29

Hi

I have been having some car trouble and visited my local VW dealer. They informed me that the car has a misfire and would cost just shy of £1500 to fix. I've included the technical details below but just wanted some advice as to if this is a bit steep?

The diagnostics log records the fault as:

16687 P0116 035
Cyl 3
Misfire Recognised
-
Sporadic fault

The attached data shows cly 1 running at 12.4 Bar, 2 running at 9.3 Bar and 3 running at 4.1 Bar.

Does this quote include a new cylinder head?Or is it just to overhaul the existing one.

Unfortunately the 3 cylinder engines fitted to these Polo models are disturbingly unreliable.I would ask the dealer if this includes replacement of the timing chain ,which is essential when doing this amount of repair work.It may be a good idea to get a costing from a good independent vw specialist.Main dealer prices would possibly make this car a write off.hth
