ANY - Helping Conscientious Drivers Avoid Speeding Fines 31 Jan 2020 (Forum)
Surely the car makers could modify the control algorithms currently employed in most volume production cars to gently apply the brakes when descending hills in order to prevent any significant speed increase (due to gravity) and thus keep the vehicle comfortably within ‘the guidelines and actual tolerances and limits’ used by UK Police Forces and Speed Camera Agencies? A possible bone of contention here is the uncertainty of just what these guidelines currently are or going to be in the future - as witnessed by the recent removal of existing guidelines issued to Police Authorities (based loosely on the 10% plus 2 mph measure) and the short lived introduction more recently of so called ‘zero tolerance’ guidelines championed by the Road Safety Charity - Brake of namely ‘Get caught doing 1mph over any posted limit and you can say goodbye to at least one weeks wages and 3/6 points on your licence’. -

Alleged Speeding Offence 5 Feb 2014 (Forum)
At the time I genuinely thought I was still on a 60MPH limit road, after turning at the junction onto the 30MPH limit B road as I was actually accelerating up to 60 MPH; but then further along the road I saw 40 MPH speed limits signs and the mobile speeding camera van behind the 40MPH limit signs. I hit the brakes then wondered if I would get a NIP for doing 45 in a 40. Little did I know that the road I was on at the time had a 30MPH limit. I don't understand why this basically straight part of the road has a 30MPH limit. -
Mazda Eunos (MX5) Mk1 - Bump in the works carpark. 21 Nov 2013 (Forum)
As for the 3rd party herself, well I've not seen her at work yet, but when I do I'm likely to blow my top at her (I got the security camera footage of the accident as well - she actually turned the wrong way down the one way system of the car park into my car!). Any help/advice on this matter would be greatfuly accepted. Cheers folks -

What's with these traffic lights? 23 Oct 2009 (Forum)
The lack of lights and the fact that the pedestrians seemed to think that they had right of way made me very worried, so I later went back to the junction (with camera in hand). It turns out that the lights were working but that they were just not displaying the green. So a few seconds after the light before the central reservation turns red (stopping the traffic moving onto/over the reservation) the lights I have circled turn amber and then red. -
Alleged bus lane incursion 22 Oct 2008 (Forum)
I have just this morning received a Penalty Notice for an alleged bus lane incursion, in a bus lane just outside Reading Rail Station. The date of the alleged incursion is 22nd June 2008. The alleged offence was spotted by a CCTV camera operative and a penalty notice has finally been issued (dated 7th October 2008). I've looked up the rules around these notices on the tinternet, and it seems local authorities can issue notices up to 6 months after an alleged offence, so fair enough, even if it feels a little late. -
Am I an outside lane hogger - verdict? 11 Aug 2006 (Forum)
I don't try to catch up with them as I am happy doing 80, and anyway, there are the occasional speed cameras on this road. In theory, I suppose I should be pulling into the inside lane after each lorry, then pulling out again to overtake the next one. But I just sit in the outside lane, gradually overtaking each lorry. -
Letter from Lagos 17 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Even the State Governor and his entourage pitched up, in a convoy of brand new Peugeot 504s and Toyota Landcruisers. I was standing pitchside with camera, and he made a point of walking up and saying hello, and having a chat. (I was the only white bloke in the stadium!) The game was pretty good, with Enyimba leading 3-0, due to a succession of goalkeeping errors, when disaster struck? -
If you don't want to get a ticket "just" 20 Nov 2001 (Forum)
In some areas more responsible Local Authorities are erecting 'This is still a 30 Zone' signs as a way of reducing speeds and getting round restrictive guidelines on the use of repeaters. Others just erect a 'safety' camera. The ABD's Road Safety Spokesman, Mark McArthur-Christie said 'Some drivers drive like idiots and need their speed curbing, but we believe that the vast majority of drivers would stick to speed limits if they were more clearly posted, or councils put up repeaters where the environment changes.' -

Received MG4E postal requisition for section 172 8 Mar 2016 (Forum)
I replied to the NIP stating that I could not remember who was driving but that it would either be myself or my girlfriend and asked for photographic evidence in order to ascertain who was driving at the time and from reading this site I also included her contact details, I also mentioned that (in an attempt of "reasonable diligence") I had spoken to my girlfriend and she could not recall who was driving, I had phoned the manager of a petrol station that I know we often refuel at, in order to ask for CCTV footage of the day the offence was commited so that if we did happen to fill up there on that day then we could see who was in the drivers seat, as the location of the speed camera is about 2 miles from this station, so if we filled up there then the person driving off the forecourt would have been driving at the time of the camera flash. No such luck, the station manager informed me on the phone that the CCTV is only available for the previous 2 weeks and we were 1 week too late. -
