Daihatsu Sirion (1998 - 2005) - A month gone now 30 May 2008 (Forum)
Hi I was wondering if someone could give me some advice. On March the 29th I went to the Daihatsu dealer to look at getting a PX price for my car against a new Sirion. I was told that the price of the car was to rise by £1000 in the next 2 days (correct info) and to save on the deal I would have to move fast. I was given a good deal on PX and told I had to get a cover note for the new car within 24 hrs (of which I did) I was given my new Registration number and a pre delivery letter saying that the car would be ready for collection on March 31st. -
Garages and servicing schedules 14 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Should a garage keep a record of what was done during past services on indivdual cars, much the same way that doctors and vets will do with their patients? I have to say, in addition, that the service schedule that comes with the C5 is a pig's ear of job, covering a multitude of different vehicles. -
Another missed service question 6 Feb 2006 (Forum)
I suppose my question is should I take the car back for a refund (dealer have agreed to do this, they accept car was misrepresented) or accept what's happened and take a car which drives well with the increased warranty package? What are the possible problems I could run into in the future if I (as always) am meticulous about maintaining servicing from now on? -
Volvo Owners Insurance - beware 8 Nov 2005 (Forum)
TEN days of worry, no car, no replacement vehicle - their derisory offer of £100 in total for car rental was not taken up. Forget the 'simple call to a dedicated Volvo freephone number and we'll solve the problem...'. Try 14 telephone conversations with VOIS over ten days AND numerous other calls to police, Volvo dealer (whose interest diminished noticeably when the car was found) and the car recovery company depots. -
New Car Import Services - HJ please read 19 Mar 2002 (Forum)
They talk of a new company that will handle the delivery etc. but I know for a fact that they have set up a new company with a slightly different name and I'm pretty sure that this is the company that will be handling the transaction, i.e. they are pulling a fast one. Please take this company off your places to buy an import car on your FAQ pages and warn anyone else off from dealing with this them (New Car Import Services Ltd) or their new company New-car-imports.com Ltd I don't know what I will do yet as I placed my deposit on a credit card cheque and will be covered for a full refund under the consumer credit act 1974 (although I suspect this could drag on a bit). -
Mercedes-Benz SportCoupé Kompressor - Too Shiny For Me 19 Apr 2017 (Forum)
My protests that I knew nothing about new cars were brushed aside, since the car was "very old". Turned out to be a 15 year old dealer-maintained Mercedes-Benz C 230 (I think) SportCoupé Kompressor, and a bit of a looker, as was its owner. -
New Zealand - Driving Experience 10 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Car radio reception poor. Many miles covered in silence. 7. Gas stations far and few between and not open early, so fill up night before long journey and early start. 8. Excellent independent cafes serving great coffee and food on main trunk routes. 9. -
Lease running out soon - what to do next 30 Dec 2008 (Forum)
However the credit crunch may have put a bit of a stop to this. Insurance costs are not a concern as I have any car cover under our fleet policy. I've liked having the contract hire as everything is covered & service is very good, but it's not good for the high mileage and also I suspect quite overpriced at the moment due to uncertainty of used values in 2 or 3 years time. -
"Never again" jobs 23 Sep 2006 (Forum)
At this point I started shouting and swearing at the car believing it to be personal. That's when you know you've really had enough! ;-) Anyhow the car is now back together, running and all is well, but what an oddyssey! I have no urge to ever tackle this job again, which for someone who normally enjoys working on cars is quite unusual. -
Ford Focus - Faulty car sold - removed DPF 29 Mar 2022 (Forum)
When I called insurer they declined. I was informed that I shouldn’t be driving courtesy car as policy only covers purchased car on drive away(5 days). For about a week dealers garage didn’t do anything with my car, I’m meant to call them on Monday in regards to find out whether they would fix the car or find different solution. -
Seat Alhambra 2019 S trim - Mouldy middle seat belt- leak? 20 Mar 2025 (Forum)
Hi, After a protracted search we decided to proceed with buying a seat Alhambra (2018, S trim) as our new family car (see previous posts). We had an inspection carried out on it but didn’t try driving it with all the kids in so never tried the middle seat belt. Got it home and went to put in the car seats and found the middle seat belt (which feeds from the roof) is covered in mould. -
Peugeot 308 feline - Very hard to select gears from cold start 27 Nov 2023 (Forum)
Once car warms up and has driven a bit no problems selecting gear ,everything as normal ,car has covered 53,000 miles. Has anybody encountered a similar problem? ,any help greatly appreciated Also terrible road noise began around the same time ,just got 2 x new tyres fitted and the other 2 x checked so that rules out tyres ,having trouble diagnosing if its a wheel bearing or not ,hope the road noise is not related to the gearbox issue? -
Ford Kuga 1.6 Ecoboost 180:bhp Titanium X - Broken Spark Plug Destroys Engine 1 Feb 2022 (Forum)
Not even fault codes indicated this. Insurance has refused to pay for a new engine. Apparently even with a brand new car after it is only a year old, a spark plug that damages the engine is not even covered by the manufacturers warranty. First I have ever heard that it is possible for a £2.50 component like a spark plug, to cause over £8,000 worth of damage. -
Ford Mondeo Diesel Mk3, 2002 227k Miles - Ford Mondeo Mk3 Cutting Out At Random 16 Jan 2021 (Forum)
Hi. I have owned the above car for 16 years. It had 16k on it when i bought it. has now covered 227k miles. It has been epic. Surely the greatest engine designed ever (duplex cam chains rule) However recently the car would cut out without warning at any time. -
Hyundia Sante Fe SE 2015 Decemeber 14k miles one - TPMS and 4 wheel tracking, 2 questions 18 Sep 2020 (Forum)

Should I take out a new insurance policy? 26 Sep 2018 (Forum)

Never had this conundrum before....what do I buy? 15 Jan 2017 (Forum)
I've never had a problem deciding on my next car but I have now. I currently drive a Volvo S60 on a 61-plate and have to change it within the next few months as it has hit my company's age limit - I'm on the company car opt-out so receive a monthly payment towards buying and running my car. -
Ford Focus ecoboost 1.0 ltr - 100 - Vibration on tickover 30 Nov 2016 (Forum)
I noticed a small water leak in a 2 year 9 month old car - looked ilke water pump area - took it to local Ford dealer who said it wasnt water pump but was serious and advised not to drive and was covered under warranty. Dealer couldnt obtain parts in UK and had to source from Germany and the car would be needed for two days - I think he said it was the main engine seal but not totally sure of that decription. -
Toyota Corolla - Timing Belt Change 23 Jun 2016 (Forum)
She wanted rid of it because she didn't see a point in having two cars. The car has a valid MOT and from what I've seen of it there is nothing stopping it passing another one, so it's mechanically sound. It's a surprisingly lovely car to drive, no wandering on the road, makes all the right noises and drives better than the 2010 Peugeot 3008 it's replacing. -
Toyota Yaris - Toyota Yaris Diesel Mk2 2010 - DPF Regeneration 19 Aug 2013 (Forum)
Hi Posters; The car in the subject seems to perform the DPF regeneration process very frequently, i.e. at every 35 to 70 miles. The car has covered approx 50k miles with 80% at motorway speed.
