  • Ford Maverick I (1993 - 1997) - 93 2.7D Washer fuses! 18 May 2009 (Forum)
I have a problem with the windscreen and headlamp washers, which are inoperative. The REAR washer works fine. I have a workshop manual for a Nissan Terrano which has proven very accurate in the past, but the fuse box layout shown bears no relation to the one in my Maverick! In any case, I have checked all these fuses (none of which is labelled for the washers anyway) but none blown.
  • Newbie with money to burn 2 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I've trawled the local garages, and I'm now fed up to my remaining back teeth and just want to get a vehicle sorted. Looking at an '07 1.6 petrol C-Max with 11000 on the clock for £8995 and a '54 Nissan Almera Tino with just 16000 genuine miles for £5400. Does anybody have any thoughts as to which may be the better buy? One thing of course that the C-Max does have to it's advantage, is at least 12 months of Ford warranty.
  • Build quality- japan versus the rest 16 Sep 2007 (Forum)
As some of you know i`ve recently bought a nissan maxima. The build quality is excellent, The doors close with a satisfying "thunk" like its a real piece of metal. There`s not a patch of rust on it and everything works as it should. Its 12 years old and has done over 100k.
  • Diesel Engines 11 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Last night I was talking to a friend, who's a mechanic in Croydon over the phone. We started talking about old Nissan diesel engines (around 98/99) and he said to me to avoid one because they don't last as long as say VWs. I used to think that almost all the diesel engines could easily achieve 200+k miles obviously if looked after well.
  • Primera 97 1.6 Preventative Maintenance 3 Feb 2007 (Forum)
I replace the filters and plugs every 20K and the oil and oil filter every 6-7K. Always use genuine Nissan parts. Too cheap not to. It is up to 127K now. For continued reliability is it worth changing The manual gearbox oil. I saw that 75W-85 is recommended on here. Very occaisionally it is not keen to go into first/reverse.
  • Trafic/Primastar/Vivaro owners - READ! 5 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Today I collected my Nissan Primastar from the dealership after having some minor repairs done to the bodywork. It was pointed out to me that the black plastic around the light cluster and the areas above - ie running up to the roof at the back, were showing white streaks - due to an issue with the moulding process or material.
  • Porsche 944 Opinions 29 Jul 2005 (Forum)
Just seen for sale at a local main (Nissan) dealer - 944 auto. Its up for £2900. Have not seriously thoght about it but have toyed with the idea of having a fun / weekend car for a while now. The car has covered 157K and has the biggest history file I have ever seen.
  • Rover, can it get any worse? 28 Feb 2005 (Forum)
Reading the paper today re Gordon Brown going off to China to see if they will buy Rover......I could not believe how poor Rovers productivity is. Nissan up North produce 320,000 cars per annum with 1000 workers making 320 cars per worker per year. Rover produce 106,088 cars per annum with 6500 workers making 16.3 cars per year. Can this be true?
  • what should i do? 16 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Need your advice please - Have recently scrapped my nissan sunny 1.4lx k reg - it was broken into and uneconomical for me to repair and get through mot......however I am now in a pickle...need to find a reliable similar car asap for £800 or under. Not sure where to start - although I have looked at/driven a few at a local garage but none I would be happy parting money for - and lack of transport becomming a problem.
  • Stupid parts departments! 24 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Just got off the phone with a nissan one asking for a part I ordered weeks ago. I spoke to the same chap that I did before but he can't remember a thing and their computer system is so poor they can't search on any details such as customer address or vin number of vehicle!
  • Car written off while being serviced 7 Mar 2004 (Forum)
My 11 year old auto Nissan 200SX was MOT'd & serviced by my local dealer. A mechanic then decided to "road test" the car & managed to plough into the side of a 4WD Mercedes. The mechanic says that the throttle jammed open but the Merc driver & I both think that he put his foot down & lost control of the car.
  • ABS activating when not braking ! 20 Nov 2003 (Forum)
The engine bay was filthy when I got the car home so I tried re-making the ABS pump / actuator earth. No difference; and the wiring pin looks OK. Do I have any choice other than letting my local Nissan dealer run a diagnostic check on the system.
  • Filling with oil 6 Oct 2003 (Forum)
I was giving my Nissan QX an oil and filter change today. Its an all-alloy V6 with 4 chain-driven cams. Very nicely laid out and dead easy to work on. There is one strange peculiarity though. On the front slam-panel there is a warning sticker which states "Never refill engine oil with oil level indicator removed".
  • Stupidity 24 Sep 2003 (Forum)
I have just seen the most horrific accident. Basically a large box van went into the back of a Nissan Primera and shunted it accross the road. It doesn\'t sound that bad apart from the fact that there were three small children in the back of the car that weren\'t strapped in. If you\'ve ever seen a small child lying in a pool of blood by the side of the road it\'s something that you will never want to see again.
  • Carburettor cleaning goes wrong 19 May 2003 (Forum)
What was that banging pinging noise(which also came with loads of smoke). Is my engine wrecked? What can I do to fix the problem? The car is a 1992 Nissan Primera 1.6.
  • First time buyer-how can i make a best 3 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Hi, I've just passed driving test at the third attempt( oh my god!) and thinking of buying my first car. The car I have in mind is new Nissan Micra S 1.2L 5dr automatic ( list price is £9395) The standard options are: PAS, ABS, front e/w, immobiliser, remote locking, radio/cd player. As I have no experience in bargaining with a dealer, I would like some advice as to how much discount I should be aiming at realistically; and what figure I should start off with as an opening offer?
  • Good car 24 Feb 2003 (Forum)
I am new here, and female too, but do need some good advice, not bothered in the least by street cred, but am looking for another car S/H, between 6-8k, now looked in the car by car breakdown over the Civic, but it says it is not a galvanised body so it has turned me off a bit, the other car is the Nissan Almera, one thing i have learnt on this site, buy Japanese so i have listened to you.Not in a rush though, like my Ford Fiesta zerec, well how it drives but quality is crap and it was a friday afternoon car too, its cost me a bomb and Fords main dealer cannot/will not fix my raining in so i just want to change my car and let one if the kids have this one as a runaround, i do about 25-30 thousand a year.
  • Future cars for the kids. 13 Nov 2001 (Forum)
If our girls were old enough for a car I'd be thinking about something like a Nissan Micra or Citroen ZX D, perhaps around 1994. But they are only 4 and 6 now so the eldest will perhaps be looking for a car in 12 years time. If requirements stay broadly the same a 7 year old car then will be one that is not due to be made for another 5 years (2006), if you see what I mean.
