  • citroen zx timing help! 30 May 2005 (Forum)
On the cam shaft on the pully for the timing belt there is a hole wich of you turn the cam shaft round aligns with a small hole in the top right of the head, do i put a bolt in there to lock the camshaft, or is this the wrong position? Next how do i lock the crankshaft in the correct place? Thanks, Darren

it maybe due to volvo not putting the sub-frame back on properly after a new gearbox was fitted????? volvo have tried laser aligning the wheels - that has helped alot - i have tried everthing - front wheels on back and vice versa, tyre pressures are fine, distance between rear and front wheels are equal. any ideas would be mostly appreciated, Thanks!!!!
  • '92 XJ6 headlamps 30 Dec 2002 (Forum)
We have read on the forum about brighter bulbs, but what other options are there? The headlamps pass the MoT alignment test but appear to point at the ground too much but the garage say they are correctly adjusted. Main beam is fine. It is getting to the point where we do not like driving at night on unlit roads - especially as everybody elses lamps seem to dazzle.
  • Asymmetrical tyre wear 24 Mar 2001 (Forum)
Fair enough, I suppose, but I was slightly surprised that only significantly more uneven wear would be considered to be a problem. Any opinions on this? Should I be thinking of a trip to Micheldever for a top-grade alignment check before I replace the tyres or am I fretting about nowt?
  • Skodas octavia - feels like a flat tyre but isn't. 6 Jan 2018 (Forum)
I'll try to keep this short as possible car was out of alignment from sale... lots of alignments later it was still out. Finally took it to a guy that does rally stuff and is very well respected and was told it needed shimmed at the rear and camber bolts at the front....
  • Mazda 6 - Womp Womp noise from front of car 17 Oct 2012 (Forum)
The front discs and pads have also been changed which hasnt made a difference.   The only thing I have noticed is that the wheel alignment is slightly off as the car pulls off to the left if I let go of the wheel on a straight road. I have had other cars with the alignment out and have never had the noise I am getting now, its not even that far out.
  • Peugeot 406 (1996 - 1998) - 98 1.9 aux belt tensioner cambelt killer 25 Jan 2010 (Forum)
hash=item3358c83071 but would this only be fitted if the bearing was had it, or do you think it will fix my alignment problem as well. secondly will i have to remove ac, alt, and pas pump to get to it and if so would it be easier to just get the whole bracket including this bit already in it from a breaker, once again many thanks Andy (a qualified but very fresh ford tech)
  • Merc A Class Sport 2013 and Merc GLA 220d 2016 - Mercedes Tyre Wear Query 30 Mar 2022 (Forum)
Neither vehicles are pulling to the side and steering seems straight. I'm going to take both for a 4 wheel alignment but thought I would try get some advice to see if this is a common Merc issue.
  • PEUGEOT 406 HDI 1.9L - ENGINE LOCKED PEUGEOT 406 HDI 1.9L 5 Aug 2021 (Forum)
However, when the engine is turned anti-clockwise it turns smoothly and through the 4 stages there is compression.  Cambelt in order, tdc on crank aligned with mark of cambelt. Could it be a bearing or the oil pump chain jamming the engine turning normally. Not overfilled with oil and oil has done only 75000 kms. I am at wits end.
  • Hyundai i10 - Clutch hitting metal plate and steering wheel 22 Nov 2020 (Forum)
Whilst it is touching the meta plate, if I turn my steering wheel, I can feel something grinding against the metal plate (a ball like grinding). Not sure if it’s related but the steering pulls massively to the left and I had the wheels aligned which hasn’t fixed the problem. It’s a Hyundai i10. Would appreciate any thoughts as to what it could be before I take it to a mechanic .
  • Any - Headlights 15 Jan 2019 (Forum)
It seems bizarre when driving through town with street lights that oncoming cars have headlights and additional lights that just dazzle oncoming drivers and making it difficult to see beyond the glare this is quite apart from older cars all of which seem to have at least one headlight badly aligned (is this not checked at MOT time) Maybe time to rethink dim dip for town driving.
  • Peugeot 208 - Do you think this is repairable? 12 Jun 2018 (Forum)
I have damaged the vehicle in numerous places, but I think the main concern being where the 4x connectors were attached to the car. Each one has been pulled/dented/deep scratched. Door still align, doesn't look like you'll be able to 'suck' damage out!   As the damage is on the whole main side panel of the cars (no the doors, but the bit holding doors in place!) is this the sort of thing they repair.. or just write off?
  • Ford Fiesta MK4 1.8D - Negative camber after repair 5 Nov 2017 (Forum)
On the suspension the worn parts have been replaced, the tires are new. There was also a wheel alignment. A haven't replaced the shock absorbers. The subframe and the swing arm aren't damaged. On the body there is no sign of damage, which could have happened earlier with the last owner. After these on the right side there is an 1.5 cm and on the left side there is a 2 cm negative camber.
  • Mercedes Benz C220 Sport - Tear Wear due to towing a Caravan 21 Jul 2015 (Forum)
The Tyre specialist believes the wear has been caused by towing a caravan as the weight of the caravan on the back has lifting the front wheels, changing the alignment which would cause extra wear on the outer edges Does this sound logical?
  • ford fiesta mk5 1.25 - knocking at front of the car. 3 Jan 2012 (Forum)
Now when im going over bumps/rough road im feeling the knocking through the drivers side footwell. Iv recently had the wheel alignment done on the car and the steering is fine and the car does not steer to one side when i let go of the steering wheel,  But the wheel itself is not straight when going straight and true. Im not really that clued up on cars, so im sorry if the info I have given isnt great.
  • Rover 75 cdt - Single outer edge tyre wear 27 Feb 2011 (Forum)
I have teken it into two well known tyre shops for tracking checks and both have said nothing can be done to adjust the rear wheel alignments it came out of the factory like it so the best thing to do is change the tyre every six months or when the tyre becomes illegal! Surely something can be adjusted ? All help welcomed big time.
  • Mercedes Benz S-Class W221 - S CLASS WITH MAJOR HANDLING PROBLEMS 28 Apr 2010 (Forum)
In one instance the car actually caused the passenger side front tyre to buckle. We have had the car back to the Mercedes dealership on numerous occasions to have it re-aligned etc but to no avail. I am now worried whether or not the car will pass an MOT test in its current state Has anyone else had similar problems or any suggestions? Thanks
  • Ford Mondeo IV (2007 - ) - 08 2.0 tracking problem 18" alloy wheel 24 Oct 2009 (Forum)
They then said they should be the same as a previous model. After checking they said all four wheels were out of alignment. I did not want to pay £48 for possibly wrong setting adjustments especially as a new tyre is approx £180. Any advice would be appreciated.
  • skoda octavia steering 8 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Its very similar to a problem I had with a golf mk3 driver I recently had; a new steering rack and wheel alignment helped this but was never back to A1 condition. Pot holes and speed bumps dont help I'm sure, but was thinking whether there may be anything else worth checking else or if anyone has had similar problems with skodas/vw's etc. cheers corky.
  • Change 1 Shock Absorber or 2? 19 May 2005 (Forum)
2 Months ago I had my nsf shock absorber changed at service by renault. It was not right from the moment they changed it. Ended up getting a 4 wheel alignment done as they recommended, which was all done at my expense. Car now drives as you would expect on decent flat roads, but on rough ground or over man hole covers you feel the car twitch. I think this has something to do with my front nearside tyre wearing excessively more than the rest of my tyres.
