2004 vw golf mk 4 gt tdi - paint blisters 24 Jul 2011 (Forum)
These cannot be found at any service, and are not the fault of the owner by any form of neglect, they just take a long time to appear. After trailing through many websites and forums I have discovered that VW and Audi accept these zinc inclusions and have repaired many of their cars under warrenty. So why, are not every vw or audi that has these being repaired ? Anybody out there help? -
£11k to spend on a sporty Golf or A4 diesel? 17 Jun 2010 (Forum)
Hi, I currently have a 2002 Octavia vRS and it has served me well for the last 5 years but its time for a change and I need to save some money on the fuel bill at the same time as having something that is still fun to drive and practical enough for a growing family (1 baby so far another in a few years) so im looking at one of the below cars. Audi A4 2.0 TDI S-Line 140 or Golf GT TDI Sport 170. Both are around the 06 / 07 with approx 50k. I would want to remap the A4 to make it as quick as the Golf but would that increase the risk of DPF issues, or does the 140 engine not have a DPF like the 170? -

Had a dodge down the auction... 4 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I over-priced a couple of Honda Accord diesel estates, thought Hondas were meant to hold their price. There was an 06 Audi hatch with nearly 100,000 miles on the clock - some people must live in their cars. A 55-reg Audi estate with similar mileage made about £8k. The bling-bling car of the day was the 57-reg BMW 6 series convertible in gangsta black. -

replacing broken glass 29 May 2004 (Forum)
My 1996 Audi A4 Avant got broken into at 4am Wednesday morning and as I heard/saw it happening I got up to sort it out. I called one company (who used to sponsor a Premiership footbal team) to see if they could help but as they had no glass I called one of the major breakdown services (who do not advertise on this site) to see if they could sort it out. -
£15k Suggestions, A3, Civic, Golf, Mazda 2 Mar 2004 (Forum)
I've read a number of posts on these forums, but I'm still open to suggestions: I'm looking at around a £15k budget for a new(ish) motor and the models I've been mostly considering are: Audi A3 [What about the new 1.6MPI car they have on Special Offer at the moment?] Honda Civic (5-dr) [Not impressed with the lack of rear visibility in the 3-dr models] Golf [Taking a lot of stick right now, but I'm even thinking about the Match and Final Edition old-style cars - thoughts?] -

People carriers - why? 2 May 2002 (Forum)
While my Audi is out of action, I have borrowed a nearly new Renault Espace from work, and I am struggling to make sense of it. Certainly it appears to have lots of space inside, but much of it is between the steering wheel and the windscreen, where you can't store things. -
All makes and models - All cars are unreliable according to this site 11 Aug 2016 (Forum)
Your suggestions please on a 'reliable' car that won't break down every day and that won't cost a fortune to repair when it does. I fancied something a little nicer than usual: BMW, Audi, VW etc, really don't want to be stuck with a boring old Focus. I’d decided on an Audi TT Mk2 2 litre petrol TFSI Auto, but then I read about the TFSI oil issues and broken timing chains and DSG gear box issues in abundance. -
Banded Service Charges 22 Jan 2021 (Forum)
At my local VAG main dealer, the servicing and MOT charges are different for Skoda, VW and Audi cars despite them all having the same engine as mine. Whilst I'm not complaining as mine is in the cheapest band, although they are very good at quoting me the cheaper Skoda price and charging me the more expensive VW price so I have to be on my toes, I don't understand why there should be such different prices for servicing and MOTing the same engine. -
BMW i3 - Depreciation on Petrol Hybrids and Fully Electric 26 Oct 2018 (Forum)
The form to post here requires I put in a make/model which I have said is BMW i3, but not wedded to that, if anything an Audi A1 would be preferable. What's the received wisdom on how these vehicles are depreciating? Is it same like for like for models with conventional combustione engines? Thanks in advance -
