VW Passat Door drop 30 Jan 2001 (Forum)
My 'R' plate VW passat (72,000 miles) has developed a nasty 'droop' on the drivers door. Local VW bodyshop manager suggests it needs new hinges, and was relating nasty tales of Audi A6 doors blowing off on the motorway following similar problems. I've yet to approach VW UK, but the supplying agent (I've had the car 3 months, VW approved used car from main agent) is not being helpful. -
A4 avant 2017 - Car Warranty for used car 11 Jan 2021 (Forum)
Car was serviced after one year at 18k miles then not for another year and 10months at 33k... according to audi this longer servicing gap is OK if new car and its doing more motorway miles. -
Knocks squeaks and rattles 4 Sep 2020 (Forum)
My Accord has an annoying squeak in the roof which after removing the head lining turned out to be a weld that hadn’t taken and the two parts were rubbing together. Audi seem to excel IMHO in making rattle free cars. what are your experiences? -
All makes - The new era of the car 29 May 2020 (Forum)
Fuel is cheaper than bottled water, the roads are empty and I’m enjoying the MOT holiday on my 17 year old Audi. Brilliant ! -
Various cars. - Touch up paints 20 Mar 2020 (Forum)
I need to get a small amount of paint for touch up purposes on a range of cars including a 1969 Triumph Herald estate, Alfa Romeo Guilia Quatrofoglio, Aston Martin DB9, Alfa Romeo 156 GTA and a four year old Audi RS4 B8. My nearest paint factor is thirty miles away and it’s not feasible for me to take all of these cars there for scanning. The factor says I should ring the manufacture to get the paint codes. -

advice on a car 15 Jun 2018 (Forum)
Need a diesel doing 15-20k year, automatic max 70k mileage. 5 door, descent boot space hatchback/saloon. I think an Audi /Bmw would be my preference. My top choice is A5 hatchback 2012 onwards facelift 2.0 s line. I was thinking of alternatives eg bmw 3 Series. What would you guys suggest. Thanks -
BMW 5 series - They all look the same 16 Oct 2016 (Forum)
I recently swapped my F10 for a new Outback and was delighted with the comfort and quality of the F10. My niggle is that BMW have now adopted the same approach to car design as Audi and MB. Design one model and then put the drawings in the photocopier and scale up or down to create the next new model. Is ere anyone that spends time differentiating their models now days ? -

VW Golf - eBrakes/Autohold and hill starts. 17 Mar 2013 (Forum)
The new VW Golf like the Audi A3 sportback are now fitting these devices to free up space on the centre console (never heard such nonsense). However does anyone have experience of these, particularly the AutoHold function, where pressure is maintained in the brake sytem until such time as you gradually release the clutch and and employ suffficient gas, to pull away on steep-ish hills? -

Company car allowance 2 Feb 2012 (Forum)
I have a company car at the moment and am wanting to change to the company car allowance which will leave me about £500 a month when the insurance is taken out. I wanted to go for say an Audi A4 with their service including tyres option but this needs a large deposit and most other manufacturers also require large deposits. Is there a way around this and how do others fare ? I don't have enough spare cash for a deposit and so might have to stick with the company car. -
Golf, Leon or A3? 16 Mar 2010 (Forum)
SWMBO is developing a hankering for a car to replace the x-reg Audi A4 which has been a great car. She's a bit of a badge snob and wants an A3 sportback, but I'm trying to get her to consider a Golf or Leon with similar (SE) spec. I don't think a Skoda would be on the cards! -
Product placement on film. 28 Oct 2009 (Forum)
I refer to the placement of certain car brands in films and television series. In US films it seems the car of choice for the expert is Audi...seemingly indestructible. On our very own Doc Martin and detective/spook type series' it seems to be that the no nonsense expert will drive a Lexus. There was a time when every hood was chauffered in a blacked out Benz. -

What happens when you cannot sell a car privately? 18 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Idly flicking through Autotrader, as one does, there are some cars - generally big, semi-luxury cars (Audis, Subarus, the like) for sale with private sellers for well over trade prices. £2k for a mid-90s car, anybody? At what point do people give up and decide that the car is hopelessly over-priced - when similar versions, 5 years younger, are chaper? -
The Top Gear Thread - Volume 22 23 May 2006 (Forum)
but as Volume 21 has filled up, volume 22 has been started - DD Why do The Top Gear people use such obscure cars? A Chevrolet Lacetti? Wossat? Why don't they use say - a Ford Focus, Audi A3, VW Golf, or whatever? A car that we see on the High Street, a car that we know and love (or hate). -
