VW Golf 2018 - Satnav routing issues 13 Jul 2020 (Forum)
But none I can find reaches any conclusion other than it’s being a known issue. My work around is to set the display to cover a wide area and to ignore obvious errors. Had anybody come across this and found a solution? -
Volkswagen Passat - 1.9TDi noise 7 Aug 2019 (Forum)
Then I thought maybe it’s mechanical and maybe the timing skipped and a piston hit a valve bent, but the timing belt looks to be in very good condition and is tight. I started the motor with the timing belt cover off for which I had to remove the egr valve tube first and when I started the car to see how the timing belt behaves I noticed that it’s the same noise coming from the EGR valve except it’s louder with the tube off. -
Land Rover Range Rover Evoque - Evoque map update problem 11 Jun 2019 (Forum)
The local distributor will work on the problem at normal rates [£98 first hour amd £174/hr thereafter] with no guarantee that LR will cover the costs. Looking for a more cost effective solution I called Land Rover and request they open a case and pass to their technicians for review (today 9 May). So I'm expecting to be contacted in the next 48 hours. -
ford mondeo tdci 115 2005 - 05 mondeo tdci won't start and sounds funny 7 May 2015 (Forum)
hi all since i've had it it's alway been a bit lumpy when 1st started, so usual injector issue. but if anything it's been slightly better recently. it's covered 115k i came to my car last night after being parked for 10 hours and it initially started, but it didn't sound right, (not the usual injector issue) it was running but just didn't sound right. i tried to rev it but it didn't do anything. i can't remember if i stopped it or it stopped itself after a few seconds. tried starting it a few more times but it wouldn't fire, it was turning over fine. i don't remember seeing the engine light on, but it was getting late! -
Corsa 13cdti. - 2010 corsa diesel history 6 Jul 2014 (Forum)
I'm looking at buying a 1.3 cdti corsa and I've seen a few that are described as having a full service history, and when I've looked at this, the services have been done following the mileage of the car. The service interval is every 20,000 miles for one of these and basically I've seen a few that have long time periods between services 2 or 3 years as they haven't been used that much. There hasn't been this long a gap between every service but I saw one model that was 6 years old and with 3 stamps in the book as it had only done 34k, but there was a gap of 3 years between the second and last service as it only covered 5k in that time. -
BMW E91 325i Touring - BMW stick or twist 18 Jul 2013 (Forum)
Got a late 2007 325i Touring with the N53 direct injection engine in 2010 as an approved used BMW and have extended the warranty twice so still covered. I like the car a lot to drive and does everything I need. Dont do a lot of miles so the MPG not critical. But In the last 8 months it has had 6 trips to the dealer (thankfully all under warranty) with a misfire and poor idling. -
Peugeot 406 2.1TD - NightMare ! 17 Jul 2013 (Forum)
The garage that has diagnosed the problem and is undertaking the work is the same local garage (not a Peugeot main dealer) that changed the timing belt six months ago. Since the timing belt was changed the car has covered 7,000 miles. Have I just been unlucky by the fact that this nut has sheared, is it a known problem with this particular Peugeot engine or, could it be something that the garage did or did not do when they changed the timing belt six months and 7,00 miles ago ? -
ford focus 2005 1.6 TDCI - crankshaft pulley replaced, came off again.. help! 1 Jul 2013 (Forum)
about 6 weeks ago we replaced the crankshaft pulley, yesterday i drove down the road and heard a clunk and the battery light came on, got the car home again, the crankshaft pulley bolt and belt had come off and were sitting on the underside engine cover thing, put it all back together again and started the engine but noticed the bolt was undoing itself again, so took it apart again, checked everything, all seemed fine, put back on tried to start the engine again and now it won't start, the crankshaft pulley is turning and the bolt does not appear to be undoing (hard to tell with the engine not actually starting) but cannot get it to start now.. my partner has done all work and is flummoxed, any help would be much appreciated, many thanks in advance -
Nissan X-Trail (2001 - 2007) - 05 2.0 clutch replacement 25 Sep 2012 (Forum)
I bought a 2005 deisel xtrail from a main dealer in 8< snip , had it 4 months and clutch has gone. I am single mum and though this car was not new it cost me £8500 and to me that is a lot of money. I went to dealer as I had a two year warranty, they told me it was wear and tear and not covered, I had only done 2000 miles in the 4 month I had it, cost me £750 to get fixed and staff and manager were very rude and couldnt have cared less. -
Mazda Tribute - Alarm reset 10 Apr 2012 (Forum)
Vehicle laid up over Xmas and New Year (3months) unfortunately battery was flat when we went to restart the car, recharged battery and everything was back to normal except the alarm which goes off everytime we lock the vehicle. On checking the manual Mazda suggest that the vehicle be taken to one of their main dealers who for a small sum will reprogramme the Key / Alarm. -

BMW 3-Series E46 (1998 - 2005) - 02 battery light flickers for a couple of seconds 18 Dec 2011 (Forum)
Hi Everyone i have a bmw 3 series 318i reg 2002 and have had a few problems with it in the last 3-4 months. i cover 30miles each way to work and on each journey usually when accelerating independent of whether its in a low or high gear the battery light flickers on for a split second accompanied by a jerk. i had it checked by an independent garage and was told that this was related to the alternator thus that was changed the problem continued and got worse after 4-5 weeks until 2 weeks ago when the engine management light came on and the power was reduced. 4 ignition coils and spark plugs were change. unfortunately this split second flickering of the battery continues. i have no problem starting the car does anyone have any bright ideas about this problem????? -

Vauxhall Corsa B 1995 - 1.2 petrol - Blowing brake light bulbs 10 May 2011 (Forum)
After noticing that the driver's side brake light bulb had blown on my son's Corsa, I replaced it, checked that the new bulb worked, then fitted the holder and cover back into position. We checked it again, fully expecting it to be working OK - but it immediately blew again. Something must have gone wrong fairly recently as, only last month, the car passed its MoT test. -
Smart Roadster Coupe - Rear coil springs 7 May 2011 (Forum)
Usually don`t bother with manuals but reckon it might save time on this one. She`s sitting down on the drivers side rear, can`t see anything underneath so suspect top of coil is broken. It`s done 40,000miles,hasn`t been thrashed,I`m only allowed in the passenger seat ;) but you feel every pothole&manhole cover........so does the suspension I would guess.First became suspicious when the driver appeared to do an odd correction mid-corner at times, usually her driving isn`t too alarming. Now I understand car was oversteering on right-handers and understeering on lefthanders. -
Local Council - Can do or Can't do ??? 16 Sep 2010 (Forum)
3) Produce and change that persons vehicle insurance for business use, although its covered for use 'to and from their place of work'. The above applies to staff no matter whether they park their vehicle on the Queens Highway alongside the school grounds or in its car park. Even if that person only uses its vehicle once or twice a month. -
Mazda 626 (2000 - 2002) - 00 2.0 Poor MPG economy 18 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Timing belt, tensioner and water pump were replaced one month before that. Tyre pressure is ok (32psi). The car has covered 64,000 miles, is 9 years old and is in good condition with plenty of main dealer history. I'm not driving it like a boy racer, nor like an old lady. Any ideas of what's causing this slightly disappointing economy? -
Vauxhall Vectra C (2002 - 2008) - 06 diesel - Faulty gearbox warranty issue 30 Aug 2009 (Forum)
The independant dealer gave her 3 months warranty & they have said they will pay the maximum £1000 as the warranty is limited, but she has to pay the rest her self. The dealer is rufusing to pay the whole amount as when she bought it she was told she would be covered upt £1000 per claim on the major partslabour. The dealer said the fault was not present when she bought it & they have a 3 page reportchecklist on the vehicle condition etc (down by themselves) whcih confirms the car was all good What can she do? -
Citroen Xsara Picasso (2000 - 2010) - 01 2.0 HDI Fuel consumption 25 Apr 2009 (Forum)
It did have a 2 week period last September when, despite being on the usual trips, it switched to 60 mpg and then dropped back to 42 again. I'm always light footed, and never exceed the speed limits. The car has covered 94K but the fuel consumption was the same when I aquired it at 52K. The measurements have been take over individual fill-ups (larger error) and a few cummulative fill-ups but both give the same reading. -
Treadless spare and the law 8 Apr 2009 (Forum)
On my last car I went for the third option as one my spare was ilegal and one of my other tyres was breaking up but then three weeks later I got rid of it ( So I don't want to make the same kind of mistake again.
