Cars are different inside 17 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Some wise old car enthusiast once said in my presence that the outside appearance of a car was its least important feature. He proposed that it was how it felt and looked inside and indeed how well it drove that was the really important thing. I have to admit that I have in the past, spent hours agonising over colour, trim and model choices to get to my ideal outward appearance when choosing cars. -

Nissan Navara - Rust? 28 Sep 2005 (Forum)
They did try to fob me off by telling me that it was an optional extra anyway (quite untrue - it was standard fit for the Navara but an optional extra for the basic pickup). I am now waiting for the result of the photo from Nissan UK. I had originally thought about importing this vehicle but eventually went to a main dealer (and paid more) because I had heard that imports are prone to rust, so I am particularly disappointed with the outcome. How do I proceed? -

What does 10w-40 mean..? 22 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Engine makers are, of course, very well aware of this and specify oils according to engine design features, oil pump capacities, manufacturing tolerances, ambient temperature conditions etc. It is important to follow these guidelines, they are important and are stipulated for good reasons. Finally, if the engine has been modified or is used in stressed conditions, the operating conditions may well be outside the original design envelope. -
Renault Clio Sport 172 Value 30 Sep 2005 (Forum)
I was blown away to be honest. When he said it was an import I thought he was going to offer less than 5. Just to make it easy, the car's done the better part of 50,000 miles and has all the kit - half leather, xenons, auto lights/wipers, disc changer, climate and all the works and is an 02 model on a '51 plate. -
Skoda, BMW, Audi and Toyota - Car opinions 7 Jan 2023 (Forum)
Am currently looking at a Skoda Karoq, BMW 2 Active Tourer, Audi A3 and Toyota C-HR. Does anyone have any opinions on any of these please? Things that are important to me are safety and reliability. Heated seats and windscreen and reversing cameras are nice to have and preferably an automatic. I'm not looking at a hybrid. Budget of no more than £19,000. -
Rover 416 - way over priced 17 Apr 2021 (Forum)
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ROVER-416-SLI-1-6-AUTOMATIC-TIMEWARP-LEATHER-ONLY-26211-MILES-FROM-NEW/353373450499?hash=item5246b2f103:g:bswAAOSwQdhgGDlI It might be low mileage and an import but you'd have to be utterly mad to pay that much for one. I'd say £2,500 is more realistic. That price makes this look good value. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MODERN-CLASSIC-MERCEDES-S280-AUTO-SALOON-ONLY-54701-MILES/353373449871? -
Manufacturer's Customer Service Tel Nos 10 Aug 2020 (Forum)

Minivan for long distance? 17 Feb 2020 (Forum)
I had thought of a Nissan Elgrand but am put off by the fuel costs. Has anyone got any suggestions? Seems like most of these are Japanese imports, which is fine, but I don't know a huge amount about what is available. Budget about 5k. -
1.6tdise dsg - VW Golf cam belt /antifreeze 7 Jan 2019 (Forum)
Should I be concerned? I assume antifreeze is either OAT or Silicate based so using correct spec is important as it can impact the engine and its seals. This was an AA approved garage. Any advice, appreciated. -
Toyota Corolla - Service 2 Jan 2019 (Forum)
I'm told that with older cars, even reliable cars like mine, which is in excellent condition, that a regular service is not that important and to just fix things, as and when they need doing. Some say different and that a regular service is essential. Is there anyone who could advise on this, particularly if you own my age Corolla.? -
saloon family car 12 Jun 2018 (Forum)
I have a budget 10k but ideal would be 7/8k. It has to be automatic and im doing about 20k mileage most is motorway. Economy is important. Max 70k mileage and 2012 oldest. Options i looked at was hyundai i40, mondeo. (Don't want the expensive brands)Also if I went to 11k budget is a 15 plate passat worth it over a 7/8k car. any more suggestions/advice would be helpful Thanks
