  • Any - Road Safety - Foreign Lorries in UK - epetition 12 Nov 2012 (Forum)
[endif]--> Hello all Please sign this epetition and share it out for others to sign (details and link below) (I do hope I'm not breaking any forum rules here ....) Approximately 25 years ago my youngest brother’s car was involved in a very serious accident on the M25 caused by a foreign lorry driver changing lane – the driver had not seen my brother’s car which was in a ‘blind spot’ not covered by the existing mirrors.
  • Accord Diesel Problem 4 Sep 2012 (Forum)
The second problem was with the glow plug warning light when on a number of occasions it started flashing. According to the handbook this indicates a problem with the engine emissions and the car should not be driven. The solution is to start the engine and then stop it and restart after thirty seconds. This should be done three times. If it fails to go out then the dealer must be contacted and the car can only be driven carefully for a short distance.
  • Ford Mondeo - '98 Ford Mondeo 1.8 Diesel not starting... 7 Mar 2011 (Forum)
Hi all, Doing some home repairs on the car, changed the head gasket, and the car won't start afterwards. The starter motor does not crank when I turn the key and no fuel is getting to the injectors. So, to cover the other stuff... I've checked the timing, I've made sure fuel is getting to the pump, I've run a wire from the starter solenoid to the battery and the engine turns over but does not start, I've opened the fuel injector pipes to let air out of the system, so far nothing.
  • Sultan of Brunei?s modified Mercedes for sale 22 Sep 2007 (Forum)
And the amazing air-conditioning system, more suited to the climate of Dubai than Dorking, is powered by an on-board diesel generator. The Sultan is one of the world?s biggest petrolheads, and has owned 5,000 cars including 500 Rolls Royces. Now you can get you hands on the Sultan?s old car ? which has covered just 2,000 miles ? for £82,250!
  • Golf MK2 - clutch problem? 19 May 2007 (Forum)
I should mention that when the cable was slack and I had to force it into reverse gear the car was juddering like mad, but after I had tightened the adjustment nut it changed gears just fine - for a few minutes anyway.
  • stolen keys again 4 Dec 2006 (Forum)
How can it be that even Audi dont know whats involved in resolving this situation with all the coathanger / letterbox car thefts around. Any bright ideas?
  • Strange running Mk3 Golf 29 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Yesterday I repaired a burst pipe on my Steering servo feed pipe that had deposited the contents of the header tank all over the engine. After completion and running the car a short while I bathed the whole engine bay in gunk and left it 20 mins or so then carefully washed it all off after covering the dizy and throttle body. After doing this I restarted the car no probs and moved it to clean the drive OK.
  • Advice wanted on 1999 Mondeo td estate 27 Mar 2006 (Forum)
I'd quite like to speak with the previous owner to discuss the servicing gap. 4 - Any minor/major problems with mondeo's of this age? This will be the first car I've bought and I want to make sure I've covered everything. Thanks in advance for any advice.
  • Mondeo Alloy Corrosion 5 Oct 2005 (Forum)
When I complained to the Ford main dealer where I get it serviced he said that the anti-corrosion warranty didn't cover it. Moreover, as he didn't know the history of the car, the wheels might have been refurbished/resprayed and could be much older than the car, and thats what you get when you buy from car supermarkets (I bought it from a Ford dedicated Supermarket at 6 months /7000 miles and the wheels were immaculate then).
  • Working with Xenons (any car) 6 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Normally, of course, this would be no big deal, but my one has xenon lights and the handbook insists that the car should be taken to the dealer to change the bulb! Can anyone advise on the following. 1. Is this fault almost certainly a failed bulb as opposed to the circuitry that 'ignites' the xenon? (Could it simply be a fuse?)
  • Mercedes W123 230 E 15 May 2004 (Forum)
I am looking at a 1983 example of the above with a view to buying it, it has a full MOT and has covered 160 000 Miles There are two concerns which I have about it and I'm hoping one of the backroom boys can alleviate ( or confirm ) them. 1. The Engine rattled slightly on start up and the oil pressure guage didn't go to the top until the car was driven, then it fell to halfway when ticking over.
  • Argggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh 8 Feb 2004 (Forum)
To top it off, I went up to my local Halfords to get some wax to sort out the minor scratches that had also appeared in the dent and having got there parked well away from other cars. On returning to Jazz I discovered that not only had it been surrounded by other cars but was also covered in bird muck. Drove home seething, was wiping muck off car and discovered a nice fresh scratch on my wing mirror that definitely hadn\'t been there 30 mins ago when I washed it.
  • Inflexible free insurance - help please 13 May 2003 (Forum)
We need to get a car for Mrsb as she can't drive my company car on business (she's a slf-employed classical musician). Mrsb has been driving for 2 years (no claims or accidents). She's test-driven the Yaris and really likes it.
  • Audi Reclaim Question 17 Apr 2003 (Forum)
It has already two holes, one on the front and another on the back of the shift where the leather folds. I personaly think that such quality is simply unacceptable in a car which costs that amount of money or for any car for that matter. I have this car less than 2 years and I always used the official audi garage for the service. I believe that the guarantee (which would cover such cases) is only value for the first year however I do think that they should replace it for free as such wear in such a short time and use is simply a big fat joke!
  • Big Bang Insurance 23 Aug 2002 (Forum)
Major mechanical failures aren't all that common, so the insurers should be able to make good money out of it, and it might even bring normal car insurance premiums down a bit, for those of us whse cars are too old to be worth taking out this kind of policy, even if we could get cover. • Excessive tyre wear - Alfa 166 12 Dec 2001 (Forum)
I am in correspondence with Alfa Romeo (GB) over what I perceive as being excessive wear on my car. The inside edge/shoulder of the front tyres wears considerably faster that the tread covering the rest of the tyre. Alfa have intimated that it is driver habits rather than the car or the tyres.
  • Ticking engine 25 Nov 2001 (Forum)
I can describe it best by saying it sounds like a creaky radiator does when cooling/heating up. From careful listening all over the car it appears to be coming from the top cam-wheel as I have removed the cam-belt cover and this is where it is loudest. There appears to be nothing wrong with the belt (which is 18,000 miles old and was only replaced Oct 2000) and so I am a bit worried as to what it might be and whether some serious failure is due?
  • Nissan 200SX - Very slow to build revs when hot 6 Jan 2001 (Forum)
Dear Sir I own a K-plate old-shape Nissan 200SX Auto that has been regularly serviced (including semi-synthetic oil changes at every 6,000 miles) and has covered 84,000 miles. The car has always idled at about 700-800 rpm in gear but recently, when the engine was hot after a long motorway run, the engine took a very long time to pick up revs from a standing start.
  • Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost mk 7.5 - Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost,wet belt change question 9 Nov 2024 (Forum)
Hello,i want to ask the owners of ecoboost 1.0,in few months from now,i'm going to change my wet belt, the manufacturer uses belt from Dayco, but they suggest me Contintental or SKF as alternative choices, more stronger than Dayco's.My car has near 95.000km,in few months will catch 10 years,as FORD suggests for belt change.   Also read that should be replaced the above stuff:   Cambelt And Tensioner Kit Auxiliary Drive Belt Camshaft Cover Gasket Crankshaft Pulley Stretch Bolt and Friction Washer Front Crank Oil Seal Reseal all components as required Oil Pump Drive Belt Replace exhaust gaskets as required Oil Change with Genuine Filter and the correct specification Oil Engine coolant drained and replaced   What you did with your Fiesta and wet belt change?
  • Land Rover Range Rover Sport - Engine 'submerged' and written off 18 Mar 2023 (Forum)
What is confusing is, if the 'flood' was so deep why is there no water damage in the interior? Why did the car not stop in the flood as I gather they will 99% of the time (it broke down after a 280 mile journey in dry weather.) I am at a loss what to do and any help or advise would be welcomed. Thanks
