Mazda RX-8 - new car tax rules, we've run into trouble 18 Jan 2015 (Forum)
All was lovely and he was loving his car until he got a letter from DVLA telling him he had been pinged on an ANPR camera and was being fined for no tax. Having established that it appears the money he paid has been refunded to the previous keeper, who surrendered the car in trade several months ago. So he immediately taxed it again and wrote to DVLA. -
Am I insured to drive my late father's car on my insurance? 2 Oct 2013 (Ask HJ)
My elderly step father recently passed away and his car has been inherited by my mother, who cannot drive. She wants to keep the car in the short term... -
Best MPG automatic 9 Jul 2013 (Forum)
And last, how quiet the car was. It had a gadget which tell you when you are approaching a speed camera. Fun. You might be used to it, but for me, it was new and fun. And made my dives more relaxing. And being rather tall, its driving position was good with its seat adjustment. So, cheap to run and easy to drive and rather quiet. -
Toyota Prius - The Great Prius Dilemma 31 May 2013 (Forum)
I have been offered a 2010 Toyota Prius. It's the Spirit model, so comes with built in Sat Nav, rear camera and quite a few other bells and whistles. It's a family member who is offering it to us, he's had it from new, is a careful driver, has full franchise service history and 35k miles on the clock. It's in immaculate condition and he's offering it for the price the dealer offered him part ex (£10,700). -
Stopping at Hounslow East bus stop 14 Sep 2011 (Forum)
When I then checked the online council CCTV images, it was in the same position and obviously had been like that between 22/2 and 2/3 and the CCTV operatives hadn't bothered verifying from the comfort of their console. Moral: ALWAYS try and check out the venue of the alleged offence armed with a camera. Also check the integrity of the FPN against the legislation. Section 47 Traffic Management Act 2004 relates to "Duties relating to the location of unexpected apparatus" and has nothing to do with stopping at bus stops as alleged. -
Peugeot 207 CC - unable to identify driver in alleged speeding 22 Feb 2011 (Forum)
On a recent journey back home to North Norfolk from Devon my husband and I were caught by a ' safety camera' on the A303. I am unfamiliar with this road so even with a map reference I cannot identify who was driving st the time. The photos are inconclusive but the enlarged one they sent was the second one taken and has no speed on it. -
Mitsibishi asx - Mitsubishi asx - 3 or 4? 3 Jan 2011 (Forum)
So i've been looking into the differences between the 3 and the 4 spec, which seems to come down to sat nav (not bothered - we have a tomtom for the few occasions she actually goes anywhere she's not been before), leather (nice, but she's not had it before and we're not bothered), reversing camera (useful safety feature but the 3 has beepers) - so the only other difference is "iPod control". Now the 3 has a USB socket, so presumably you can plug in an iPod and play it through the stereo, but I was wondering what control you get - I assume you can't use menus etc but with the brilliance that is the Genius Playlist she could choose a playlist at the start of the journey and as long as she can adjust volume and ideally skip tracks then that'd probably be fine. -
SatNavs in Africa 21 Sep 2010 (Forum)
Soon afterward they rolled it over at 5 0’clock in the morning on a dirt road. If it hadn’t been for the camera truck following them they would probably all have died. The father said that the SatNav showed a straight road and he was looking at the SatNav when they came upon a bend while driving ‘fast’. -
Wedding Bells - idiot local driver! 23 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Principal Inspector Merle Lourens said police arrested the driver on Tuesday after the BMW he was driving was caught on camera three times doing 164km/h, 154km/h and 170km/h in a 60km/h zone in Goodwood on Saturday. "While the bride and groom were tying the knot, the driver decided to take the car for a spin," she said in a statement on Wednesday. -
So many accidents, What should I do? 3 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I wrote to my MP in the past but nothing was done about it, is there another way I can get this road to be made safer? I see so many traffic control devices such as cameras etc' in places where there is hardly any problem but in such a bad spot there is no warnings what's so ever. Renault Clio II (1998 - 2001) - 99 1.2 electric problem with dashboard 14 Nov 2008 (Forum)
This is becoming quite a problem as it affects the speed gauge aswel while im driving as it will indicate a speed and then suddenly drop to 0mph, this is quite frightening if im going through a speed camera :) I would be greatly appreciated if anyone could help me with this thanks {amendment to subject line. You don't need to put make/model in it as the choice made from the drops down menus does that for you} -
Credit Crunch Takes it's toll: Volume 2 [ReadOnly] 31 Oct 2008 (Forum)
I have some professional track record in the media as an unknown freelance, having done news and foreign reporting, a column and a certain amount of comment of various sorts in obscure and sometimes better-known papers and on radio. No TV because cameras and lights make me perspire which is a no-no. People like me who want to do TV these days probably inject themselves with that wrinkle-removing poison stuff, bolox or something, which prevents perspiration. -
Local Police parked on double yellow lines tonight 2 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Could I have issued the police van with a 'Citizen?s Parking Ticket' ? Should I have taken a photo on my camera phone, {like traffic wardens now do,} sought witnesses and then sent my 'evidence' to the Chief Constable. I will do this next time! Or is it one rule for the Rozzers and another for the rest of us? -
Speed 15 Jan 2008 (Forum)
More observation, patience and fewer distractions (mobiles, game stations, books, etc) would save many more lives in this country than the current vogue for cash-cow speed cameras. But that's another issue ! -
Police trip up - Monty keeps driving (& putting) 11 Sep 2007 (Forum)
The sportsman was accused of speeding at 88mph on the M80 at Dunipace, near Falkirk, on 24 February. Mr Montgomerie was reportedly driving a Lexus when it was snapped by a mobile speed camera on the 70mph road. His trial at Falkirk District Court was abandoned when it emerged officers in his home town of Surrey had failed to serve him with a summons. Mr Montgomerie, 44, did not appear at the hearing on Tuesday. -
Rant about traffic in Leeds today 4 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Nor do they even bother to ring the traffic lines on the radio - not a word about it on Radio 2 travel hotline the whole time I was waiting there. And the ones that could set up a diversion are all sitting on bridges on the M62 inside camera vans, one of which I went under rather carelessly at 82mph on the GPS. Fair enough if I get a NIP, but I'd just passed someone in a beaten up old car with no shock absorbers, wearing no seatbelt and chatting on his mobile but going slightly slower than me. -
50mph instead of National Speed Limit? 27 May 2007 (Forum)
At busy times this limit makes no difference anyway, whilst at quiet times it has made the road more dangerous in my opinion as everyone trundles along in clusters of cars dreading the sight of a speed camera. (The nature of the approach roads mean that traffic tends to arrive in bunches, ie all being held at traffic lights). Many other A roads have been similarly blighted, without any particular history of speed related casualties that I know of. -
North West BR Meet Up. Confirmation 18 Jan 2006 (Forum)
After that, make sure you're in the left lane. Turn left at the lights and then right into the car park. Quick warning - those lights have a camera on both sides. The amber period is very short so just be careful. If anyone's got any problems then feel free to shout out. If anyone wants my number too then just drop me an email. Thanks for being so patient folks.
