Suzuki SX4 - Intermittent misfires. 25 Mar 2019 (Forum)
is to try to accelerate in 5th on a gradient that gives uneven running for a short time. It could be a plug/lead issue I expect and I’ll see my excellent local mechanic in the next couple of days and no doubt he’ll have some ideas but I thought some of the gurus on here may have seen a similar issue. -
2/3 yrs & 22k miles oil change vvti engine, how bad? 9 Feb 2018 (Forum)
It's a reasonably low milage car and all other services are once a year about 6k miles. Is this really that big a deal or could it lead to problems down the line? Do you think it's a good buy? Thanks -
Hit and Run 13 Nov 2017 (Forum)
I was recently involved in a hit and run accident earlier this week painfully I was unable to get the registration of the car however I did clock the make and model. The roundabout on which it happened does not have cameras however the slip road that leads onto the motorway that the car escaped onto does. I have contacted the highways agency about obtaining cctv footage and they have replied that they have checked the footage and can't identify the car that hit me. -
Toyota - Technology too smart for itself 6 Sep 2017 (Forum)
https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/technology/hacker-helps-family-recover-minivan-after-losing-one-of-a-kind-car-key/ I am told that this isn't the only make where you get one key and have to have the computer reprogrammed if you lose it. It doesn't make things more secure. It just leads to thieves breaking into your house to steal your keys or car jacking you at the supermarket car park. I would rather they just hot wired the car if they are determined to steal it rather than threatening me with violence to give them the key. -
Do you have your eyesight checked ? 31 Jul 2015 (Forum)
What I later thought about is how many people are unaware of problems ? A post will never lead to legislation, but I do hope that anyone reading this will make sure they have their eyes checked regularly - especially when over 60. Cars over a certain age have to have an annual M.O.T why not people ? -
FIAT Ducato autoking 630ck - Excessive crankcase pressure 23 Jul 2015 (Forum)
Rang the original garage and asked if this was covered under warranty (due to engine rebuild) and all they keep saying is that I shouldnt have driven it if the oil light was flickering. Question is - Would low oil pressure lead to an immediate problem of excessive crankcase pressure which wasnt there before they rebored the engine? -
Ford Focus Zetec 1.6 - 6000CD RDS radio reception not working 30 Mar 2015 (Forum)
Once, she reckons she could hear Clasic FM away in the distance. But that could be the missus! Removed unit. Original factory ariel lead plugged into back. Checked base of ariel behind interior light. Checked ariel. All fine. Plugged a separate ariel into back of unit after buying the right adapter. Still no reception. Can't think of anything left to try. -
Astra Life A/C 2009 Petrol 1598cc 2009 - Astra Life 2009 won't start 8 Mar 2015 (Forum)
He checked the battery last time and thought it was fine. This time he tried to start the car with a jump lead but won’t start. It started again with a jump start but won’t start again using the key again. The electrics, light, Radio, CD player, etc. work. The battery voltage was slightly more than 10. -
Renault Laguna 2004 - car ignition/dashboard light not on 12 Feb 2014 (Forum)
I have a Renault Laguna 2004, 1.8 16V engine, 5.40 litres, mileage: 90,000km The battery was flat, tried to start with another car battery using a lead, I made a mistake in connection which I correct immediately the battery sparks, so I started d car, allow to run then move got to my destnatio, switch off, remove the card, parked for about 5 hours, then by the time I got to the car I insert the card, but the card reader will not read the card, so ignition light did not come on, car refuse to start. -
Ford Focus - P2300 "ign coil A Prim Control low" and P2303 16 Nov 2013 (Forum)
P2300 "ign coil A Prim Control low" and P2303 "ign coil B Prim Control low" My car has actually cut out twice also (no restart) After replacing both my Coil and Leads, seemed ok. Drove down the dual carrigeway and it re-appeared. Car didnt cut out this time though. Today I drove it and when I left the dual carrigeway, cut out and wouldnt start! I fiddled with the wires that run into the coil and it started no problem. -
VW Passat 1.9 manual 2005 - 2005 Pasat 1.9 electronic handbrake failure 12 Jun 2013 (Forum)
These fine cracks were found by the mechanics without even having to wipe them clean which leads me to beleive that they already knew they would be there! I was advised to paint them with hammerite to delay the ingress of water. Has anyone had similar problems? I do feel that this must be a design fault for which VW should take some responsibilty! -
LDV Cub 2.3D (Nissan LD23 Engine) - Diesel Intermittent Smoke and 'Chugging' 2 Nov 2012 (Forum)
It was rare to begin with but now more often that not it will start up and 'chug' on idle, almost like a petrol engine would if you took a plug lead off. There is also a smell like unburnt diesel. While it chugs it is VERY smoky (blue) but a good blip on the throttle and it is fine. It doesn't happen all of the time and its not confined to hot or cold starting. -
Ford B-Max - Ford B-Max 2012 Road Test 19 Aug 2012 (Forum)
For easy access you need to be able to slide in and out. HJ looks like a high jumper viewed side on as he curves around the leading edge of the door. Ford missed a huge opportunity to really provide easy access. If only the door went back another 4 inches to expose the seat back to allow people to step in or out. Also what is so great about not having a B pillar? -
Any - Built-in sat nav - will it date 17 Feb 2012 (Forum)
In my current car I use an Android smartphone with Navigon software on it. It works ok, but there's the hassle of the temporary mount on the windscreen, the trailing lead to the 12v socket.....I'd prefer the convenience of built-in nav. However, whatever car I buy I'm keeping for at least 7 years, probably longer. Would I be left with an anitquated in-built sat nav by then? -

x18xe1 2000 vauxhall astra 1.8 - petrol filling up cylinders and inlet 28 Nov 2011 (Forum)
I'm currently having problems with my 1.8 astra, I recently got the engine replaced as piston failure occurred when driving down the motorway due to low oil, the mechanic said now after the new engine in when He reconnects the battery leads without the ignition on the fuel injectors are staying open and filling the cylinders and inlet manifold full of fuel. The mechanic said it was a ECM so that was another 150pound, So I purchased a 2nd hand brain off him with chip and reader and the mechanic replaced it with NO CHANGE! -
Rover 45 - Problems with car battery and starting the car 15 Sep 2011 (Forum)
It acts and makes the sound of the battery being flat with just the clicking noise. If i then hook up jump leads from wifes car then it starts immediatly. It will then drive for a while and then if i stop somewhere and then restart the engine even a couple of hours later it will start fine again. It seems to be only when i leave it for overnight or longer. -
Peugeot 306 P reg - electrics problem 13 Jun 2011 (Forum)
Initially thought the battery had gone flat, however a number of the electrical items worked such as lights, fans, indicators central locking etc, but windows, igntion did not. Tried it with jump leads which had no affect, so I concluded it must be an electrical problem. Then, when the ignition key was 1/2 turned to plug warming postion, some of the dash lights started flckering, then I had full electric power in the cock pit, then it was gone again. -
Vauxhall Vectra 2001 (Y) DTI SRI 2.2 Diesel - EGR valve 5 Mar 2011 (Forum)
I have replaced the valve and still the same. Now they are saying its the vacum, two little black boxes near the battery. A thin pipe leads to the ERG valve. Has anyone any advise on how i could stop this happening ? -
Renault Clio 2001 1.2 Dynamique - Can't start engine... immobiliser problem? 13 Dec 2010 (Forum)
Ok, 3 problems occurred around the same time yesterday, all leading to me not being able to start the engine: (possibly all unrelated!) 1) After turning the hazard warning lights on, I couldn't turn them off. Had to remove fuse to get them to shut up. 2) Light snow 3) Usual minor roof leak near the sun shades... never bothered me before.
