  • Handbrake Calamity 21 May 2007 (Forum)
Please could someone advise me on whether I have a problem or not. I parked my new (February 2007) mini cooper on my rather steep drive earlier this afternoon and went indoors with the shopping. Ten minutes later there was a very loud bang followed by a car alarm. Needless to say it was mine; the car had aimed itself squarely at the garage and has bent the door (up and over variety) back so that I would imagine a new door will be required.
  • Car for missus 8 Jul 2001 (Forum)
What about the MGF -- are they cheap for a good reason? What else should we consider - I reckon on the Interga type-R, Nissan 200zx, New Mini (Cooper - suspect it will have better resale and gets more kit for not much more money), Ford Puma. I want something that's pretty depreciation resistant - so 3 year old or more for starters (except New Mini), has plenty of go and is fun for her to drive (so she stops pestering me to let her drive my Caterham..).

All well and good, the potential problem will be just how reliable and durable will it be. Mini SIM cards are not very robust, typically only reliable for a max of about 3 months continuous recording, after which there is likely to be gaps in the recorded journey. This is from personal experience.
  • Funniest Car Action Scenes 18 May 2009 (Forum)

  • Nissan Micra (1992 - 2003) - 2000/120k What is it worth? 22 Oct 2008 (Forum)
He has an X reg Micra with over 120k on the clock. The local dealer does not want it as a P/X against an 05 Mini and suggested he sell it privately. Anyway he asked me what I thought it was worth and I suggested £1000. He was rather annoyed at this and suggested it was worth nearer £2500. Any ideas?
  • How many people to build a car? 22 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I am no expert on industrial production but an article in today's DT Business section reports on the success of Mini production and the number now exported to USA. It goes on to say that the Oxford factory employs 4700 people, split between 3 shifts, who produce "Up to 200 cars a day". I realise that there must be some admin and technical support but that production figure seems ather low to me.
  • Peugeot 307 (2001 - 2007) - 2006 (55) 1.6 Petrol - Oil Consumption 31 Mar 2008 (Forum)
The garage tells me that this is an acceptable amount of oil to be burning. No other car I have owned (including a 1970s mini) has burned this much oil. What is an average amount of oil to burn for a car like this? Thanks
  • Did I have a floor mounted dipswitch? 3 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Am I daydreaming or would my old Wolseley Hornet ( Mk 1 Mini in drag ) have had a floor operated headlamp dipswitch? I seem to think that it was to the left of the clutch. It is 30 years ago mind you, so I may be wrong! I also want to remember that the indicator stalk had a flashing end, but again maybe not.

Are you a ?tall Guy? driving a mini with your head stuck out of the sun-roof, or are you ?dwarfish? person peering through the spokes of a ?Jags? steering wheel?.
