  • Peugeot 306 1.9 Diesel 2001 - Peugeot 306 - 306 Diesel Fuel Pump set up 24 Nov 2011 (Forum)
Can anyone advise please. I have removed a Lucas diesel fuel injector pump - I have locked the engine at TDC as prescribed by the manual. I am puzzled by the pundits who suggest inserting 2 bolts through the fuel pump sprocket to 'lock the fuel pump in position' .
  • Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 01 2.0 HDI Fuel pump/ immobiliser starting fault 7 Dec 2009 (Forum)
This is happening every so often but only ever since my car got broken into, so 2 weeks later "today" the car was turning over fine but just wouldnt start so called RAC out to find the fault he ended up saying the fuel pump had gone and it needs replacing. BUT I have been wondering if the fuel pump has a feed from the immobiliser system hence cutting the fuel pump off? .********* If so then the fuel pump may not be nackered I may just have to take the drivers door card off and check the connections etc etc.
  • Fuel efficiency priorities 20 Jun 2008 (Forum)
An interesting article on the new scientist website today. They have some researchers arguing that presenting fuel efficiency in miles per gallon confounds decisions on how to improve overall fuel consumption. Their argument is very simple. An increase of 3 miles per gallon on a vehicle sounds insignificant, and on an already fairly fuel-efficient car it would be.
  • Peugeot 307 HDI 2.0L 2002 - Engine won't start 7 Jul 2014 (Forum)
I took the head off to check that the valve was still straight, which it was, and fitted a new head gasket and timing belt, along with a second hand fuel pump. The engine won't start. I've primed the fuel system and cranked the engine with the unions slack at the fuel injectors and there is fuel at each injector although there is some air in the fuel supply line to the pump which I can't get rid of.
  • 2003 Renault Clio 1.2 16V - Car wont start, have fuel and spark 3 Mar 2012 (Forum)
I have a Clio 2003 1.2 16v and it wont start most days, I have fuel and fuel pressure to the rail but it still wont start. I have 4 spare injectors and fuel rail with injectors still attached and have connected the multiplug from cyl 4 to the injector on the spare rail and also connected the fuel line to it and when I turn it over no fuel spraying from the injector.
  • how to put up fuel duty AND save money 19 Aug 2009 (Forum)
anual fuel bill of roughly 1800 quid road tax is roughly 200 quid for a family car like mine. 200 quid divided by 12,000 miles equals 1.6p per mile / 50p per gallon if they put 11p on fuel duty and scrapped road tax i would be about the same BUT the business high mile-ers who use lots more fuel pay more but can claim it back.
  • Ford galaxy 2007 1.8 tdi - Fuel supply 22 Feb 2018 (Forum)
My ford galaxy recently had a flywheel and clutch replaced and ever since has a had a fuel supply problem. When the fuel level reaches quarter tank the vehicle won’t start: mechanics have looked and are having big difficulty diagnosing the problem. Any idea please?
  • MY17 Focus RS and premium fuel? 12 Aug 2017 (Forum)
I am picking up a new Mk3 Focus RS tomorrow, and have been having an ongoing discussion, both on and offline, about the best fuel to use in it. Is standard 95Ron fuel suitable for the RS ( will it allow the car to perform at it's best ), or should I use something like Shell -V-power or similiar?
  • Supermarket Fuels 21 Jan 2015 (Forum)
Cue debate...thoughts? Which to avoid. Sainsbury's are currently offering the cheapest fuel however, would it pay to pay the extra and fill up at the likes of Shell / BP? Also, is it true Tesco use Esso fuels - and is it any good? I use diesel in my SD, I ask because I live near a Tesco garage and don't often pass Shell / BP.

  • cirtroen c3 - Fuel tank leak ?? 2 Apr 2011 (Forum)
I have just filled my citroen c3 1.4 diesel, and fuel has leaked from underneath the car.  Does anyone know if there is a relief or overflow valve that could cause a leak ?  I have checked the fuel pump area accessed from under the back seat and that is dry.

  • Fuel consumption at tickover 17 Jan 2006 (Forum)
This morning, I was stuck in a 1.5 mile queue of *very* slow-moving traffic on the A33 heading towards M4 J11. With the fuel gauge in the red and the computer saying I had a range of 12 miles left in the tank, it got me wondering. How much fuel does a typical petrol engine consume (GPH) when just ticking over? Kevin...
  • Diesel fuel cetane ratings 15 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Do modern diesels engines have an adaptable engine management system, that can adapt to the cetane rating of the fuel in the tank? Will a higher cetane diesel fuel only give performance and/or economy benefits, if the engine is able to adapt to it? If so, when was this technology introduced? Cheers, Rich.
  • mondeo td bleeding fuel lines 20 Oct 2005 (Forum)
I have just installed a fuel injection pump, the car will not start it just turns over. I think it could be air in the system as I have renewed the fuel pipes as well.i have tried to bleed it but all I do is flatten the battery, is there a sequence for bleeding air out of the system or can someone help me?
  • On board computer & fuel consumption. 11 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Hi - I've noticed over the last couple of weeks that I've been reading these fora that there's a lot of suspicion re. over optimistic fuel consumption read outs. Why is this? How big is the margin of error? Am I missing something very simple ie. the computer doesn't log fuel used on tick over when stationary?
