Citroen Saxo 1.1i 1996 (R-Reg) - Saxo cutting out on ignition 22 Nov 2012 (Forum)
Hiya, I'm all new to this so please bear with me if it this is slightly long winded and doesn't make sense. I've just purchased a 1996 1.1i Citroen Saxo which has not been driven in about 6 months. Its due its MOT next month, which is fine as I've already been over everything they're likely to look at for its MOT. However upon starting it up when I picked it up yesterday, it ticks over and then starts, and then cuts out almost instantly and then restarts if I turn the key again; I thought maybe that it may be something simple like spark plugs, but when I started it this morning and started driving, when I put my foot on the clutch, it cut out (all the lights on the dashboard light up) and when bringing the clutch up and pushing the accelerator down, it seemed to come back to life, which confused me a little. -
Citroen Xsara Picasso 2002 - Awful rattley engine noise 9 Jun 2012 (Forum)
I appreciate it might sound like I'm worrying over nothing, but it is quite intrusive and I worry it's signifies something that needs treating. The car is a Citroen Xsara Picasso, Exclusive 1.8 petrol, 2002 with 79k-ish on the clock. Serviced every year at time of MOT. Any advice on likely causes and resolutions much appreciated. To reiterate, the garage do not see anything fundamentally wrong with it, although this is the first time they have returned it post-service with the noise still evident. -
Citroen Picasso - Nightmare with repair costs/engine 15 Feb 2012 (Forum)
Booked in for that the next week - prior to this the car flashed up "Engine Fault" and petered out. Top loaded into garage (have used before and it is the main dealer for Citroen in Surrey so normally v. reliable) ; looked at and "repaired" with a new starter coil. Had car back for an hour and same light came on, plus it put putted/huffed and seemed to have no oomph. Took back to garage; they checked out the cylinder by stripping it; said it could be starter motor and replaced that; also checked the throttle and cleaned it out. -
Citroen C3 1.4 HDi - Wheel Bearings and Engine Oil lid left open. 19 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Do you think anything done shoddily or indirectly during the repair of the wheel alignment has now caused this wheel bearing problem? 2. Does it really take 2.5 hours of labour to fix the wheel bearing on a Citroen C3? Thats nearly half a day's work! A separate point is that I discovered that after the service the person had changed the engine oil but left the lid open. So the entire engine area was splashed with oil. -
Citroen ZX (1992 - 1998) - Recovery Service Disaster 12 Aug 2008 (Forum)
A friend, to whom we sold our 1993 Citroen ZX 1.9D many moons ago, noticed a water leak coming from under the car, and so called out a nationwide recovery service, of which she had been a member for some 30 years. Now, I'm afraid the details are a bit sketchy, but basically after 6 hours attempting to fix a small water leak, the car won't start and there is a suspicion that some terminal damage has been caused to the car by the recovery service. -
Citroen C1 (2005 - ) - Have you driven one? 1 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Been driving a Citroen C1 today (as a spare car, whilst the Trajet is in dock for suspected misfuelling with biodiesel) and just thought I would share my thoughts. I like the simple interior design, although the painted door panels and wind up windows came as a bit of a shock. -
Citroen C5 (2001 - 2008) - '01 HDi - Strange 'knocking' through the steering 1 Nov 2007 (Forum)
Hi all, Bought a 2001 Citroen C5 recently (the 2.2HDi SX automatic hatchback). Lovely car in all regards apart from a weird sort of "knocking" that's transmitted through the steering column. (Well it looks horrible too of course, but practical family diesel automatics aren't that common, so it wasn't a style-led choice!) -
Peugeot/Citroen TD / XUD starter 10 Feb 2007 (Forum)
I've just done this, and as a novice, found it quite easy the engine is the same for all 90s Peugeots and Citroens inc. the 306, 405, Zantia and ZX. You will need - replacement starter motor - get it from a breaker for £20, and get free practice in removing it! 8mm Allen bit with a ratchet, assorted metric ring spanners and a flat head screwdriver. -
Toyota Corolla SR or Citroen C4 VTR 14 Jun 2006 (Forum)
He's going to be downsizing from a Rover 620 to one of the following. Toyota Corolla 1.6 SR 5DR Citroen C4 1.6 VTS + 5 DR I've read that the Corolla is to be replaced next year, so I think it may be unwise to go for the Corolla. I'm going to part ex my 306 cabriolet, so far i've been offered anything from 4.2k to 5.2k for my car from various dealers. -
Non-standard car hire 30 Sep 2005 (Forum)
To avoid the obvious answers (DB9, Koenigsegg etc), each car must be currently available for sub-75k. Mine would be: Citroen DS decap cruising round the English countryside stopping off at country pubs Citroen DS (black) as above (& maybe take up smoking Gitanes again) 550 Maranello and drive around the local towns on the Saturday to see whether people look on in awe or with scorn, and take it to a track day on the Sunday to see what all the fuss about these types of car is, 1967 Mustang fastback and just drive everywhere v8 Range Rover & bomb up to Scotland on Friday night, do some mudplugging & bomb back MC -
Citroen Xantia (1993 - 2000) - Radiator leak - Overheating 26 May 2002 (Forum)
(The coolant has been changed every 2/3 years according to the history and I had it changed only last October). Whatever work it needs, I'd like it to be carried out at my local Citroen specialist. Is there a temp fix so that I can drive it approx 12 miles/40min, so that I don't have the hassle of having it towed there. Thanks, Chad.R -
Citroen ZX - Citroen ZX Turbo Deisel - XUD Head Gasket Repair 1 May 2010 (Forum)
Having seen many people, including myself, trying to find info on the ever so common Head Gasket failures on Peugoet/Citroen XUD Deisels, I’ve decided to give a report on the repair I did to my Head Gasket failure on a 1993 Citroen ZX 1.9 Turbo Diesel. I repaired this on my drive and saved a possible £300+ on what a garage would charge. -

Cupra Ateca 15 Jun 2019 (Forum)
Not really sure what the point is?. Fords Vignale brand, i kind of get, because it is a more luxurious offshoot. Citroen's DS brand, i get that too, as not only do the cars look different from the Citroen's, they are also more luxurious and distinctive. But the Cupra brand seems to just be a sporty Seat, and given Seat paints itself as a sporty brand anyway, i just don't see the point. -
