  • Fiesta Zetec timing belt replacement 16 May 2005 (Forum)
Hi, As a regular reader of HJ's column in the ST I know how important it is to get timing belts replaced. Well SWMBO's 51 reg Fiesta 1.2 Zetec is coming up for its 50k service and according to the schedule this is the time for the belt to be chaged. Should I make sure the tensioner or anything else be changed at the same time?

  • Mitsubishi Sat Nav system 16 May 2003 (Forum)
A friend has just bought a recently imported Mitsubishi 4 wheel drive fitted with the original Sat Nav system. The remote is missing, and the screen is still in Japanese, and is trying to tell us that we are driving around a small offshore island next to Tokyo.
  • Exhange Rates £/Euro 7 Mar 2003 (Forum)
As I know to my cost, (Living in Spain & with U.K. originating pensions paid in Euros) the current exchange rate is dreadful for buying euros with £s. All you folks intending to go the personal import route should keep an eye on F.Ex rates! There is a free exchange rate daily update, via e-mail, available from AA http://www.xe.com/cus/. AA I can recommend it
  • £4979 off UK supplied Fords. 16 Oct 2002 (Forum)
The price saving on the Galaxy (I think) is as good as you'll get from Europe and makes it pointless importing. Just a shame they cannot do it all the time on all the models. Something like 57 out of 75 models sold in the UK ARE cheaper when bought from Europe.
  • BMW 3 Series query 19 Feb 2002 (Forum)
It seems around the time he placed the order Bmw gave this model a midlife facelift, and he is unsure as to wether he will get the facelifted model or the old style one, the import company cannot clarify this for him either. Any Ideas?, thanks.
  • Corsa 2017 - Part exchange 26 Oct 2024 (Forum)
The salesperson might have adjusted the figures on the vehicle your buying to try & get the sale which in turn will affect the value offered for your Corsa.  Its the cost to change figure that's important.  Might be better to try one of the big car buying services to offload the Corsa easily.
  • Any - Hard drive for music ? 4 Sep 2024 (Forum)
My imported Honda Stream, which may have to be pensioned off, has a hard drive to automatically record all the CDs that are played. We have 125 albums on it and counting. This is a very useful feature. -Far more convenient than playing music from a mobile phone, even with bluetooth.
  • all of em - Bicycle 28 Sep 2023 (Forum)
It is worth a read, if for no other reason then just to see the plain idiocy and self importance of cyclist, and the power they have been given going to their heads.  1 of many things suggested is they now want cars to pull over when a cyclist wants to pass.
  • UK Stickers 8 Oct 2021 (Forum)
., need to be changed to 'UK' if you take your car abroad - as from now. Good to see that it's the important issues being dealt with.
  • Is it time to stop buying cars? 13 Jan 2019 (Forum)
This forum is for people who enjoy cars, and long may we continue to do so.  Cars are part of the freedom that is so important to us all.  But as time goes on there will probably be less need for them in major cities, as this London-centric broadcast implies.  In rural areas, like where I live in Dorset, we will still need cars - probably also in the suburbs too.

  • Crossland and Grandland - what dreary names 22 Jan 2017 (Forum)
The Vauxhall Crossland will soon be followed by its bigger brother, the Grandland. Not exactly sparkling names, are they? (Even with that all-important "X" suffix). In a touching gesture of solidarity, the Opel models will use the same names. Not to be confused with... Land Rover. Land Cruiser. Citroën C-Crosser. Seat Cross Sport. Subaru Cross Sport.

  • City car for Cork 27 Feb 2014 (Forum)
Can anyone recommend (a) a small, low emission car for city motoring around Cork.  My son lives there and pays ridiculously high tax on the VW Golf he imported (1200 euros a year!) as it has high emissions.  He would like something with the lowest possible emissions (b) a dealer in or near Cork he could buy something from that fits the above spec.
