  • Hit by uninsured driver 7 Mar 2011 (Forum)
They don't actually 'refuse' - they are just terminally vague about it,  and promise to set things in motion, but don't do so. Finally, the car is on finance with a settlement of £4,100.  If Admiral can't be persuaded to increase their offer I will end up with zero, and will even have to pay the additional £100 to clear the finance. All this, for something that was absolutely not my fault.

  • HPI Check Discrepancy 9 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Today, I have been contacted by the buyer who informed me that the vehicle was recently HPI'ed, and the check had comeback reporting that the vehicle had been scrapped in 2000 and had outstanding finance from 2006! Obviously, I was very concerned by this and so this evening have carried out my own checks against the vehicle. The more detailed of the two checks that I've carried out reveals the reported issues relate to the vehicle VIN... and fortunately the part detailing the outstanding finance gives the name of a model of caravan for 'description'.
  • MINI Cooper S R53 (2002 - 2007) - Convertable - I am just about to buy one... 7 Oct 2007 (Forum)
The current deal our local dealer has put to us is the following (3 year PCP): Mini Cooper S Sidewalk Cost new: £21,000 Deposit: £ 5,000 (a Megan 1.4, either we sell it or trade it) Remainder to finance: £16,000 Guaranteed value af £10,000 (after 3 years) Amount left to finance: £ 6,000 Monthly amount: £ 250 (there abouts, got him down from £280) We will have paid £ 9,000 for £6,000 of credit For comparison a loan at current rates would be: £ 6,583 Should the dealer be doing better than this, especially if he making me pay £3000 to borrow £6000 over 3 years - should I be comparing that rate with current rates, the PCP "balloon" confuses the matter as this Guarenteed future value of £10,000 might be more?
  • Nissan X-Trail - troublesome! 9 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Nissan Finance have tried the bully boy tactics already claiming that it's extremely difficult to seek refunds on new vehicles and that we will need a solicitor. They had a good laugh down the phone about this.

  • Ford Fiesta - BCA auctions - when do you break even? 3 Aug 2023 (Forum)
I understand that there is a lot of monthly fluctuation in both buying and selling - the sort fo cars I am thinking about are small cars usually bought as a fiest car or a second family car, such as a Fiesta, sold for around 6-8k so no need for financing
  • Second hand market doing really well?? 22 Feb 2021 (Forum)
Because of covid, less new cars have been sold, leading to a shortage of used vehicles, increasing prices. Not even a hint of admitting that finance companies are struggling to process defaults on payments. Well, that giant car park is not fake news and I’m sure it’s not the only one of its kind. Why the big fat lies and the artificially inflated prices?
