Renault Scenic (2003 - 2009) - 04 1.9 dCi Grand Scenic - multiple faults 27 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Had a nightmare with my 54 reg car over the last year and won't bore anyone with it now. Details on Parkers!!! I have had a turbo blow, replaced, second one damaged and knackered engine. Extended warranty refused to pay as wear and tear, but on all 17 visits to the garage not once was EGR or CAT checked. -
VW clutch burnout in 2.5yo golf 16 Oct 2006 (Forum)
I lost all transmission and the clutch peddle stayed depressed until the engine was switched off, which was also the only way to change gear. Called VW roadside assistance and they took me off to get a hire car and had the car transported to a small local VW garage, which have become the most utterly obtrusive people I have ever had the misfortune to meet. Basically, the clutch burn out did not fall under any of the warranties and they said if I wanted to sort that out, I'd have to get my home garage to contact them and so I ended up being a go between for the whole day. -
What to do! 24 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Put one or both of them as named drivers on my comprehensive insurance. 2) Sell it before I go. (what are the implications re. NCD on not having car/insurance for a year? I've got 10 years NC at the mo.) When I bought new I was intending to keep it for at least 5 years but because I'm not going to be here I'm not sure it's worth the hassle of sorting out insurance/servicing on a car I'm not going to be using for a year (and the money from the sale will be handy). -
A trivial question about air con. 14 Jan 2004 (Forum)
Therefore the question is, is it not a good idea to park on idle with the front wheels other than straight in the sense the power steering is working to no result? I\'ve had more air-conned cars over the years than my secretary used to get ladders in her tights and I haven\'t come across this one before. -
and the winner is ... 8 Mar 2003 (Forum)
... the 1999 Passat TDi Sport I picked up today. As mentioned elsewhere, the trade-in was my Clio dci plus £1100 in exchange for the approved-used Passat with 90k miles, which came with a full tank, 12 month MOT, full service and a 12 month warranty which covers fuel pump/injectors, electrics, etc. Crucially, they replaced the CV joints as well, so that particular VAG problem shouldn't affect me. -

Volkswagen Touran - PDI on new car 24 Aug 2019 (Forum)
The chain that I bought the car from do have VW franchises but this was from a Volvo dealership so not part of the Das Welt approved used program. -
Skoda Rapid Spaceback - Dealership is talking rubbish 27 Jul 2019 (Forum)
I would actually prefer to use a different word for them. Ongoing issues with the coolant levels in my 2 year old car. After a service last month the coolant light came on. Checked and it was below minimum level. -
2012 Peugeot 508 sw allure - Advice needed - buyers remorse or legitimate claim 14 Apr 2017 (Forum)
I bought it - it had a full service history and 12 months MOT, however (regrettably) I didn't clarify any warranty, Since using the car more regularly two faults quickly appeared - 1. air con not working - I had it regassed, but that quickly leaked due to a split pipe which has now been sorted and regassed again (total bill £125). -
various - VAG CR diesel maintenance costs 23 Feb 2012 (Forum)
Over 10 years these engines and their exhaust systems should require about £5,000 less work than the diesels." I'm looking for a new car, which I intend to own for at least 7 years, hopefully 10yrs if it proves reliable and hard-wearing. Various VAG cars are on the shortlist VW website claims that the DPF's on their latest diesels "last the lifetime of the car", which I assume is 12 years, based on VW corrosion warranty. -
2000 honda civic 1.4 5door - exhaust fitting problem 18 Apr 2010 (Forum)
after some help from backroomers,i took my car into budget to have the exhaust center section replaced , it was replaced and i took the car away this was two weeks ago , over the next few days i noticed a exhaust blow start to appear, i took it back to the same branch and spoke to the guy who had carried out the work,he put it up on the ramp and we both checked the exhaust and agreed it was blowing on the front joint were it bolts onto the cat,he said to give him 20 minutes and it would be sorted,i arrived back 30 minutes later he told me it was a faulty gasket and that it was all sorted i drove the car away it sounded ok, today while driving the car the blowing noise has returned,i really have lost all faith in budget now and having used them for years after kwik fit failed to comply to a warranty claim, i cant find a customer helpline number listed for budget and really dont want to deal with my local branch again, also i have heard a rumour saying that kwik fit own budget, which in my opinion if true would explain the downturn in customer care and satisfaction -
Volkswagen Touran MPV (2003 - ) - 05 1.9 door mirrors - whats the legal position 30 May 2008 (Forum)
Anyway, they keep telling me now that they are waiting for parts from VW (presumably they have just ordered a huge pile on VW warranty and will pocket whats not used), but i've been driving around for three weeks now without adjustable door mirrors and am gettig fed up with the lack of service. So, what would you do in this situtaion. -
Whats a good price for my sisters Micra? 25 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Hello everyone, my sister is thinking of selling her Micra (once the throttle body is fixed), and i was wondering how much users on this forum thinks its worth. The car is a 1994 L, Nissan Micra 1.3LX, its three door, silver metallic, 85000 miles, its been very well looked after by my sister (sadly she has lost most of the service history in the house move). Its had - 4 new tyres, regular services, synthetic oil changes every 5 months or 5000 miles (which ever comes soonest), its recently had the rear of the car professionally resprayed (paint was slightly faded), the interior is always clean (i used to be a professional valet), its had the known micra problems fixed - including the front cross member, and its just had the original gearbox reconditioned and a new clutch fitted (both have 11 months warranty left), and the car has september 05 mot, and june tax. she has set her sights on a T-reg Clio hence the sale of the Micra. -
Faulty alternator 1 Jul 2003 (Forum)
At this stage I was not entirely certain whether I would have wanted a new alternator fitted, as I would probably investigated buying a used one whilst the car is so old and the last new one lasted such a short time. Anyway as he had returned the car and seemed to have everything in hand I thought no more of it. This was back in April. -
Mini - ALL - Clock ticking on condition based services 3 Jul 2021 (Forum)
Despite loyalty (which counts for nothing) my local dealer will not get the job as I've found a franchise £50 cheaper which will fit in with a work trip. But what shoddy treatment, and a stark warning to buy a car fresh off the production line, not having sat around. Yes, we did buy at a substantial discount, but what a sting in the tail. The car has been perfect and faultless, but having a two-tier system (fluids on production and warranty from reg date) is a practice which STINKS. -
Should I spend £2000 on repairs for my Volkswagen Golf or trade it in for a new Kia Picanto? 5 Aug 2010 (Ask HJ)
I bought a 2002 Volkswagen Golf automatic in June 2006 for £6500. Milage was only 16,000. I used it for the last four years and added 20,000 miles on it,...
