  • Ford, vauxhall - Decisions decisions....5k need an mpg machine 11 Aug 2013 (Forum)
I total around 15000 miles a year with 75% of that being on the M1 or M25. 1.6 - 2.0 Diesel High Mpg (I know I won't get near the fusion but close is good) Approx 50000 miles Manual Cheap to maintain 5k top budget I've been looking at the focus cmax as like the shape, style and spec (I will avoid all automatic models after reading on here!). I am however interested to hear if anyone has any other suggestions as I have only ever owned ford cars in my short driving life. Thanks in advance Lump.

Well, i own a 406 2.0 HDI estate, year 2004. The car seems to be equiped with automatic headlight function which can be turned off or on by the button on the stalk. Since ive bought it, the light allways came on when i switched the car on weather its day or night or whatever time of day it is and it didnt matter if the auto lights are off or on.
  • How do I reject a car under SOGA? 7 Jul 2012 (Forum)
My saga unfortunately goes on, since having the Citroen C4 2.0 Automatic, within the first day of driving it the service lights flash on and off, various warnings, but the major problem is that it shudders in first gear when there is even the gentlest of slope and then lurches forward like a rocker.
  • Ford Fiesta - Buying a Second Hand Diesel Car - Few Questions! 5 Jul 2012 (Forum)
My budget is around £2500 and I've seen a few on AutoTrader at around this price. I did originally want a Citroen C2 VTR automatic but after hearing some very bad reviews I have changed my mind. Now with regards to the Fiesta my main question is, is it worth buying a newer model that has higher mileage, or an older model which has less mileage?
  • Renault Scenic 2004 (53 plate) VVT 2.0 - Electronic handbrake unit 21 Feb 2012 (Forum)
iI am having a few probs with my EHU on my Scenic, the problem is a loud grinding/squealing noise from the rear off side when the cars engine is stopped and the handbrake automatically engages. However if I reverse prior to switching off the engine no noise is heard. (I know strange ) I managed to acquire a second hand one and after a week/two weeks this squealing started again.
  • Ford Fiesta Freestyle 2001 Zetec 1.25 Code: DHA - Swapping Fiesta Engine - Must Engine codes match? 17 Feb 2012 (Forum)
Even the Ford engineers who were asked were unsure about the differences between DHA, DHC and DHF 1.25 Zetec engines and couldn't say if they are compatible. I've resorted to looking on eBay for a DHA engine and found one that is from an automatic - will this work with my manual 5 speed gearbox? Any help and advice will be welcome - I'm not at all knowledgable about mechanics, as you can probably tell. Thanks, K
  • Chevrolet Cruze - Time to change the trusty Mondeo... 10 Jan 2012 (Forum)
I've still got the trusty X-Reg (one of the first Mk 3's) Petrol Mondeo, it's done 77,000 miles now and still starts and runs no problem, had a few electrical issues recently (Automatic Windows, central locking and now the boot opening!) I also don't like the Tax band much these days. Now then onto what to replace her with.... I fancy a chevrolet cruze!, I know some people will question the looks, but I really like it!

Hi Guys, My Partner has a Renault Clio 1.6 Automatic, 2002 petrol engine. Recently the Toxic fume light and engine light have started coming on and the car stalls when idling, this tends to happen when it has been on a longish (10 mile) journey and then left for half and hour and used again.

  • Nissan Almera Auto 1.8 SE 04 - Nissan Auto Blues 18 Aug 2011 (Forum)
Hi i was looking for some help with my nissan almera automatic, 1.8 se 2004, it has just passed its MOT and has been serviced by main nissan dealer, last service at 46,000 it now has 51k on the clock. I was driving y'day on a dual carriageway and when i tried to put my foot down i felt a lack of power and the car was very sluggish, upon my return i noticed that the car felt overheated although the heatometer was normal, it also smelt like somethign was burning, i am at a loss now as it appears that the car in the lower gears takes along time to engage gears, this is not a regular occurence, this is irregular, i was thinking maybe i have cluth burning or maybe the air mass flow meter, but there is no sign of an engine management light, is it possible that i could just be the gearbox oil, i have checked all other fluids....please help before i get ripped off and spend more than the car is worth....

Therefore I can currently earn £37,400+£1,437 (=£38,837) before I pay the higher rate of tax (40%). As I earn around £42k a year will I automatically pay the 40% BIK tax monthly fee?  Or will I pay the 20% BIK tax plus 40% of the difference between £38,837and the £42,000 I earn? Does anyone know? • Does cruise control use more fuel? 26 Jun 2010 (Forum)
(No i am not the type who does 56.00 mph on the motorway, i do like to drive my car to the full within legal speeds of course ;-)   )   Imagine you are on the motorway with the cruise control set at 70 mph. You have to apply brakes which automatically disengages the cruise control. When you press resume does the cruise control make the car accelerate harder than normal hence using more fuel?   On a long journey is it economical to use cruise control compared to manual input (your right foot)?
  • Toyota Avensis (2003 - 2008) - Dishonest seller 9 Feb 2010 (Forum)
I should say, the dealer and sales person were very arrogant and rude, but as we liked the car and we wanted Automatic... we bought it. He said car underwent all checks successfully. I am not very sure of it, from the way he spoke. When I spoke to them for other issue, they did not respond properly. I am planning to take it to their boss like Toyota UK company manager or something.
  • Volkswagen Passat (2001 - 2005) - 03 1.9TDi jumping/jolting! 22 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Hi there - apologies if this topic has already been answered elsewhere but I couldn't find anything with a search! I have a 2003 VW Passat TDI 1.9 automatic estate which is regularly serviced etc and had a new alternator pulley fitted a couple of months ago. Has about 48,000 miles on it. Today it did a funny thing 3 times - when it changed between gears (I was driving around town so between the lower gears in case that makes a difference) it did a strange jolt/jump.
  • Mazda Mazda 6 (2002 - 2007) - 2003 Airbag Module 2 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Recently on Mazda diagnostics a fault code appeared on the computer B1871 - Passenger airbag deactive, module fault Automatically I was told by the mechanic, that'll be £400 odd for a new module, to which I declined as I didnt have that sort of money. Now my question is this, could this fault code be due to the passenger side airbag being deactivated for posisbly a child seat?
  • Do the VED bands mean the end of the petrol V6? 11 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Both the cars in my household have V6 petrol engines with automatic transmission. One is a 2000 Jag S type with 3 litre engine and the other is a 1999 MB W202 with 2.4 litre engine. At the moment I'm still paying the old-style VED because both cars are pre-2001.
