  Cleaned rubber hoses with a wipe of degreaser and rinse. Test run, top up antifreeze. By now it`s 5.00pm - and the evening is spent reading History - watching TV and using the Eee pc.... on The Forum. If I were to keep a recording diary of yesterday - that`s the `motoring context` it would reveal - of the day and typical of me in retirement - (garden excluded) Do you want to post your own snapshot of (preferably) 4th June.

  It\'s been sat in one place for several years now, on its wheels. The tyres are completely flat, the exhaust has pretty much disintegrated, and the body work is coated in green scum. Am I too late to save it do you think?

  Cars are a good thing, if used appropriately can be enjoyed by those that wish to use them well into the future. But liking cars does not mean liking sitting in them in heavy traffic. So what?s wrong with using cars less? 2. What?s wrong with using public transport (o.k. need to encourage an improved public transport system as part of a better transport system). I commute by train on a 110 mile round trip every day and this is a preferable alternative to a rush hour drive (even in these Railtrack days) ?

  (When the time comes it'll be a new Dacia for me) Took the car in yesterday morning having heard an unusual noise which I thought might be a broken/missing exhaust bracket.  Good news, the bracket was fine. Bad news, needed new f+r o/s wheel bearings, plus rear pads and discs. Done in the day, total cost inc. VAT £320. Spoke to guy who'd actually done job - f/o/s bearing was completely shot (shown) so well worth having done. I thought that the cost was entirely reasonable.

    I never was able to afford a car so expensive, let alone one with so oversize an engine.   Do the BRs think that the young man was a victim of the s/s salesmen ?   There used to be one of those irritating notices in the back widscreen of old cars, "I know it's old, but it's paid for".

  Having read the claimed fuel consumption figures for the BMW I was expecting to get well into the mid 70's mpg. so you can only imagin my dissapointment in only achieving figures in the mid to high 40's, despite driving as feather footed as I know how to. If there are any other 116d EfficiencyDynamics owners on the forum, or even HJ himself, I would be interested to hear what kind of figures they are achieving.

  There are two categories: a) Those who stop at the side of the road and leave the o/s car door open in traffic coming, forcing the traffic to give it a wide berth or stop if there's something coming the other way. I always either let traffic pass before opening the door or if I need to get something out, I'll open the n/s door and reach across if needed.

  the computer said code 8 right front side airbag squib not really know how to fix it , i mean i thought just a little soldering job but now it looks more serious one more thing mechanic plug off all connectors then re-connected but nothing happened.Typical just when he left i found under driver seat 1 red connector guess what light went off and stayed off all day after little play with it.if it`s really a squib then it`s costly so as usuall any of your help much appreciated thanks,guys,kuntics1

  Just checked again cable not need as i pull the trigger inside i can see a little pin moving to lock the fuel door so that`s ok but still not flip out when try to open.Looks ok nothing is broken as i see but this is soo annoying that cannot open from inside the car. Also i found a guy he said can fix it for 50£ plus part i think that`s a bit too much part is about 10-15£ at scrap yard.

  Is it false economy if it needs constant repairs etc.,    I see no end of Mk1's on the road which is a good advert  to the quality, but my gut feeling is to hold on until I might be able to afford a Mk2, that said they still seem out of my budget. If a car this old is really not an issue and I check F/S/H service stamps etc, then would the ST170 be worth looking at as it seems to have everything- only thing that concerns me is the mpg which if I am on a tight budget it seems daft to buy something that is going to consume fuel like there's no tomorrow!

  just bought a vauxhall omega 2.5 td gls automatic s reg 1998 can anyone tell me if they are a reliable motor? there is a problem that i am trying to sort out but can not seem to get any where recently i at to change the clocks in the car as the rev counter needle and the speedo clock needle stopped working the speedo needle just kept jumpping abit that side is sorted . but since i have replaced clocks the problem i have got now is that the ignition key will start engine no problem but when i come,s to turning the key to the off position the engine stays running and the alternator light cmes on but once i turn key to on position light will go out i have bought a brand new ignition switch and changed it but it is still the same. mmmm confusing but if i press the break in and then turn the ignition key off the engine will stop. is there anybody out there that can give me some advice it will be very much appreciated look forward to reply.

  After a couple of weeks i noticed every time i stopped  ie traffic lights and sat idleing i could smell rotten eggs had a diagnostics done no codes was told cat might partialy blocked and front o2 sensor was lazy. Changed the cat and front o2 sensor which is a 5 wire 2 plug  with second hand one,s which i was told was working fine on car they came off but the egg smell is still there. Engine starts fine, drives fine, plenty of power does low 30's around town,on motorway at 75mph does around 43mpg and after a decent motorway run does not smell for a few days.

  2, I have no injector earth pulse the earth side. Does any have any wiring diragam for this please?? 3, The b***** thing`s will not start as well any help would be great. 4, It open/closes on the remote, the engine turns over fine just will not fire up the fault codes are as follows DF054 Ring supply DF055 Coded line circuit DF059 Decoder->ring connection Or has anyone got a Renault Megane wiring schematic`s for the immobilier system as I keep being told is the coded line from the ECU to Injector ecu???

  Another observation about the car is that the normal fuel consumption has gradually gone from the high 30's to the low 30's.  When you touch the material on the car it feels like very thin oil with small pieces of soot in it.
